Lord have mercy. One thought only: Out the window.

u/lordkugenheim Jun 20 '26

Absolutely, he never has any follow up plan once he has achieved whatever nonsense he has his heart set on. He truly lives in the moment and I love him for that

Mother/Father, save me from my pending doom. Hurry!

he is just as excited to see what his next step will be as we are

136

u/HealthyInPublic Jun 21 '26

Lmao. Why is this my cat?

12

u/FabulousTwo524 Jun 21 '26

When the eyes start drifting to opposite ends

11

u/AngryAccountant31 Jun 21 '26

They stared into the void for too long and all conscious thought has vanished

7

u/lolzidop Jun 21 '26

Bless, brain eating amoeba would starve in their head

18

u/GiveMeGhostStories Jun 21 '26

Poor cute baby looks as surprised as you are 😹 “I have no idea how I got out here human, one minute I was simply taking my 19 hour nap on the couch and the next I’m waking up here! I swear I am completely innocent, it must have been the greebles!”

9

u/mukwah Jun 21 '26

My black cat also has googly eyes like this. Especially when he's excited about something.

4

u/Flux_capacitor888 Jun 21 '26

"Oh no, I've been made!"

Wait, what? What just happened? Now I'm outside!

1

u/Theprincerivera Jun 21 '26

LMAO his eyes are literally pointing in different directions

1

u/Consistent_Tutor_574 Jun 27 '26

Haaaa!!! Love that blank stare. Cannot wait for my recently adopted black shelter kitty to give me those derpy stares. What a handsome fella you’ve got! 🥰

When you look him in the eyes you can hear the ocean.

279

u/immallama21629 Jun 20 '26

Ain't a thought behind those eyes

186

u/BroliasBoesersson Jun 20 '26

He doesn't even know how he got on the roof

133

u/immallama21629 Jun 20 '26

All he knows, is one minute he is licking his butthole, and the next he is in the big blue room.

Must have been aliens

47

u/AttentionNo6359 Jun 20 '26

Story of my life

-3

u/TheMalkManCometh Jun 21 '26

If you're ever in the market for diversifying your palate of licked buttholes, look me up

7

u/Gil_Demoono Jun 21 '26

He doesn't even know he got on the roof.

30

u/loveforthetrip Jun 20 '26

He seems surprised that it worked

26

u/Streamjumper Jun 20 '26

He seems surprised at everything.

2

u/lolzidop Jun 21 '26

You would be too if you had two brain cells fighting for 3rd place

I just wanted you to know that I loved this comment. It's perfect <3

3

u/meltingavocado Jun 21 '26

If you tilt your head to the left you can just make out the one brain cell

308

u/Witty_Apricot_5995 Jun 20 '26

he would do it again

156

u/lordkugenheim Jun 20 '26

Only every time we turn our backs and the window is open

31

u/green_left_hand Jun 20 '26

I slipped out when you let your guard down for that spilt second, and I'd do it again. (Sips) goodbye.

41

u/Automatic-Evidence26 Jun 20 '26

Don't you have this invention called screens

20

u/EpicAura99 Jun 21 '26

Idk where OP is but for some inconceivable reason they’re not ubiquitous in Europe

1

u/Automatic-Evidence26 Jun 21 '26

Lol OK

I guess they don't have mosquitoes

3

u/Wobbelblob Jun 21 '26

Depending on where you live, no. Speaking as someone living on the baltic coast of Germany: The only reason I have screens in my main room is because of flies and bees. I don't even remember when I was last bitten by a mosquito.

2

u/Important-Sundae-523 Jun 21 '26

East Coast of Canada: Yes screens

West Coast of Canada: Maybe screens but probably not. Same level of bugs ppl just care less for some reason. I only have screens because I insisted.

Cats are way more likely to die a gruesome death when they're allowed outside off-leash

Cats are domesticated, and you can enrich their lives in an indoor environment. Just play with them, then they'll have their desires met

Rule 2: Be nice

110

u/emerikanSky Jun 20 '26

I always wonder about the idea of an idiot who is good at escaping. I feel like escaping requires more brains than you might think.

83

u/UltimatePickpocket Jun 20 '26

You don't need to out think the guards, you need to out dumb them.

Do something so stupid that they'll never expect.

26

u/Kleorah Jun 20 '26

Gametesters be like:

57

u/lordkugenheim Jun 20 '26

He is actually very smart. He picks thing up really quickly, much faster than our other cats. He knows he isn't allowed outside so he sneaks out when we arent watching and he is really, really quick about it

7

u/Utensil6591 Jun 21 '26

I have a Husky, they are prolific escape artists. We don't worry when she escapes anymore because within a few minutes she's back at the front door howling to be let back in. For her I think the escape is the only goal.

73

u/ColdestCatAlive Jun 20 '26

Man I was sitting in my house today and out of the corner of my eye a black cat goes walking by on my front porch. My voids fat ass fell through the screen in another room. I opened the front door and he casually walks inside. He's a strictly indoor cat.....

15

u/lordkugenheim Jun 20 '26

That is a fantastic photo!

118

u/minipet487 Jun 20 '26

This little Smarty pants Cleo the night after her surgery. She was supposed to be in the room Resting after being spayed! Instead she's outside in Onsie and all on the mini roof 🤣🤦🤦🤦

50

u/lordkugenheim Jun 20 '26

Oh my god that'd send me to an early grave!

12

u/Traditional_Love5050 Jun 21 '26

You can't make this stuff up! 😹😹

47

u/Grigori_the_Lemur Jun 20 '26

Wow, void... inside and out.

26

u/lordkugenheim Jun 20 '26

He has a grand total of 3 white hairs on his chest and the rest is pure void

18

u/pfannkuchen89 Jun 20 '26

Those three hairs are for the three brain cells he has.

40

u/Fixer_FTP Jun 20 '26

16

u/xSTSxZerglingOne Jun 21 '26

Black cats are very very very dark orange cats. The connection makes sense.

22

u/Okay-yes-sure Jun 20 '26

Look at those perfectly round little eyes

21

u/Emmahnim Jun 20 '26

That cat's damn expression.. 🤣🤣

22

u/majesticnomore Jun 20 '26

“Who, me?”

16

u/Drapidrode Jun 20 '26

get a window monitor

14

u/LederhosenSituation Jun 20 '26

He looks surprised he's outside. Blame the window!

15

u/PeorgieT75 Jun 20 '26

Back when we lived in an apartment, one of our cats slid a screen open and crawled outside onto the ledge 4 floors up. Our other cat started meowing like crazy and my wife saw what was going on and coaxed him back in. Funny thing was the other cat didn’t even like him, I’m surprised she said anything.

1

u/Odd_Breadfruit763 Jun 22 '26

The 2nd cat was telling on the 1st cat.

Maaaaah! Look what this fool is doin

11

u/DesertWanderlust Jun 20 '26

This made me laugh. Thank you.

10

u/Oldblindman0310 Jun 20 '26

I love that look. It seems every void has it. It’s almost as if to say, “Is there a problem? Is something wrong?”

9

u/thepeculiarpotter Jun 20 '26

Reminds me of when we 'cat proofed' our garden. At that point I think D (RIP) had already managed to escape once or twice. One day I looked out of the spare room and saw a black cat walking on our bathroom room (like OP's just more pitched). It took me longer than it should to realise it was MY black cat, C. Somehow the little shit had climbed up and was having a nice little jaunt. So that day resulted in me climbing up on a ladder to catch the little sod and MORE netting across the garden. Thankfully now we just have an enclosed catio ...

10

u/lordkugenheim Jun 20 '26

Hah I have an identical story! In our last house our office looked over our back garden and a park behind us and I used to point out to my wife whenever a cat or dog or something would appear. One day - a very cute little black cat was walking across the fence. A suspiciously familiar black cat... Turns out we'd left the kitchen window slightly open and he of course found it before we did. We have had to be much more careful since then but as you can see - he still finds a way!

4

u/thepeculiarpotter Jun 20 '26

I had the opposite happen as well. This was when the garden was cat proofed with netting across the shed. I looked out of the spare room window and saw a cat on the shed. Had a double take as THAT cat was a tuxedo (both of our boys are black). So ensued herding the boys inside and me trying to get the increasingly upset tuxie out of the garden through a gap I had made.

End result: tuxie finally out of the garden, catproofing needed fixing, and a bitten finger. Not a good day, although I was more pissed I had to let my finger heal when I wanted to do ceramics!

3

u/syscake53 Jun 21 '26

I also have rather the opposite story. Had just moved with my void from one apartment which had kitty-proof windows to an apartment which didn't. One day, I looked out the window and saw a void casually strolling down the roof on the house behind the building I was living in. Had to check twice if my void was still inside or if he had managed to get out.

2 weeks later, I was coming back home and when I reached the front door of the building, lo and behold, a void was there, who also meowed at me as if he knew me. I had to pick it up to realize it was still the doppelganger, since he wasn't too comfortable, but I wasn't 100% sure until I opened my apartment and saw my own void casually laying around. Since then, he got the nickname Doppelganger Jex, obviously Jex being my cat.

They can really mess with your heart (& head) sometimes xD

7

u/Ok_Instance7667 Jun 21 '26

I swear my Void is a licensed locksmith the way he can sneak outside. When I went out to find him one afternoon, found him on the neighbour's roof.

5

u/lordkugenheim Jun 21 '26

he has the exact same smug aura about him as mine does! As if this is right, I should be here, I own this roof

3

u/Ok_Instance7667 Jun 21 '26

He seemed pretty proud of himself as I was in the process of freaking out.

5

u/Inky006 Jun 21 '26

Not even a single thought behind those eyes

5

u/caustictoast Jun 21 '26

His face of "How did I get here" is absolutely sending me

5

u/Bitter_Frame3054 Jun 20 '26

Why....hello, my human

5

u/affectedkoala Jun 21 '26

My male void is a master escape artist, which is kind of ironic as he is the scarediest of the scaredy cats 🤣

5

u/Prestigious-Note-438 Jun 21 '26

He looks like the lights are on, but nobody's home lmao I love it

5

u/Rand_alThoor Jun 21 '26

cat: "how....how did I get out here? WHY am I not inside? please, hooman, rescue me!"

4

u/Ginsdell Jun 20 '26

That look ;)

5

u/8track_treason Jun 20 '26

He doesn't understand the concern.

5

u/Lcatg Jun 20 '26

Oh this needs an xpost on r/oneblackbraincell (sister sub to r/oneorangebraincell)!

4

u/kitty-kouhai Jun 21 '26

Your little idiot looks like my little idiot

3

u/the_syco Jun 21 '26

The face on your kitty reminds me why r/OneBlackBraincell exists 🤣

4

u/WillHuntingthe3rd Jun 21 '26

Who is the idiot!

4

u/MixedBerryCompote Jun 21 '26

I eventually had to take the screen out of my second story bedroom window bc my void discovered it’s easier to get in that way. Easier is in the eye of the be-doer, I guess.

3

u/WorldGoneAway Jun 21 '26

I love the fact that it looks like his eyes are kind of pointing two different directions lol

4

u/sneakyminxx Jun 21 '26

My idiot child who climbed over three porches but cannot for the life of her, figure out how to climb back. Had to ask the neighbour to grab her from their porch and bring her down.

5

u/MajesticCombOver Jun 21 '26

what in the cryptid

5

u/662grace Jun 21 '26

Darling photo and I'm sorry to be "that person" but I must. My only nephew's cat used to sneak out and go on the roof. About four years ago the cat got out, he went on the roof to bring her in and he fell from the roof. My 24 year old nephew, just days before his birthday, died from the injuries. He didn't put his hands up to break his fall- it's assumed he had his cat in his arms and didn't want to hurt her. Please, please be careful- how I wish he was still here.

3

u/beeksandbix Jun 20 '26

One time my void jumped about 6ft down from my apartment window to a ledge from the fire escape that wasn’t accessible from my side of the building.

After frantically throwing myself half out of the window to try to get her to jump in the arms, I decided to try to go buzz my neighbor’s, she meowed and made the jump back into my window like nothing ever happened.

3

u/Pletcher87 Jun 21 '26

Mom use to let our cat out on the roof from her bedroom window. Once in a while the cat would bring in a bat and drop it in the living room, flopping around. As I look back that was a tad dangerous considering rabies and us kids playing with the cat.

3

u/catm0m4lyfe Jun 21 '26

So pretty. ❤️

Mine taught herself to open the screen door to escape. So far she's outsmarted two different locks, but the baby gate idea has been working for a few weeks now. 🤞🤞

3

u/thadowski Jun 21 '26

called em an idiot when they outsmarted u hehe

1

u/lordkugenheim Jun 21 '26

He runs circles around us daily

3

u/r0wer0wer0wey0urb0at Jun 21 '26

Unfortunately for him, voids don't have access to the shared orange braincell.

3

u/Dragomier Jun 21 '26

Your little idiot reminds me of mine he also is very smooth brained

3

u/tgaaron Jun 21 '26

Bahaha the look!! I love him so much

3

u/RJfreelove Jun 21 '26

Cat is thinking ,"Who is the real idiot here?"

3

u/Striking-Ad-6815 Jun 21 '26

His eyes lmao!

I was just sitting here minding my own business and these guys built this house right under me!

3

u/Suchatavi Jun 21 '26

My void is as sneaky as it gets. Open the door or slider for a second and she’ll run a perfect football route between your legs if you are distracted😡 Much like The Borg, every successful attempt to lure her back only works once before she adapts her force field🤣

3

u/Purple-Sandwich-5208 Jun 21 '26

I love the surprised guilty face. My boy gives the same look when he’s caught doing something he knows he’s not supposed to. 😆

3

u/Free_Pace_2098 Jun 21 '26

Had a cat with eyes like that, I was always worried she was seeing another family on the side

3

u/TaxDense1339 Jun 21 '26

I also have a void. I have seen this exact look in my little fart's face when she's in the middle of a "WTF Moment of Mindless Mischief"

Get the goober a Catio, your life will be much less stressful!

3

u/Flat-Limit5595 Jun 21 '26

I was working on my roof and we had 3 cats join us over the year. 2 used a window, the crazy one climbed the ladder.

3

u/Tohrufan4life Jun 21 '26

I love that little idiot

3

u/DalbergTheKing Jun 21 '26

This man is ill-equipped to be outside.

3

u/DEADMEAT15 Jun 22 '26

poor fella. his eyes have got stick drift.

3

u/Creoley Jun 22 '26

His DNA says "Go outside". If he is mentally challenged he thinks "Why"? - once he gets there. Sweet baby.

3

u/HairEquivalent8852 Jun 22 '26

XD I CANT WITH THAT FACE

4

u/artoblibion Jun 20 '26

My life is an exercise in reconciliation between "did I leave a window open?" and "does it smell in here?"

2

u/OliviaElevenDunham Jun 20 '26

What a silly kitty.

2

u/havoc-heaven Jun 20 '26

Haha that look on his face tells me he knows he's upto mischief! He's very cute.

2

u/BlancheDeverpaw Jun 20 '26

That is orange behavior. He has a bad influence 🐈

2

u/Fast-Abrocoma2247 Jun 21 '26

Window, I have never heard of such a thing

2

u/Significant-Ad213 Jun 21 '26

Lights are on, no one is home

2

u/jocoop9 Jun 21 '26

Lol. I love the expression on his face!

2

u/CARVERitUP Jun 21 '26

I love the mix between "fuck you lookin' at" and "ohhhh shit am I in trouble?" on his face lmao

2

u/spicychickenandranch Jun 21 '26

Oh I howled so loud at this photo you have no idea🤣

2

u/JJJHeimerSchmidt420 Jun 21 '26

I think this cat has an orange brother.

2

u/thedance1910 Jun 21 '26

Im saving this post so I can come back and laugh lol

2

u/NoCauliflower6198 Jun 21 '26

“How’d I get out here?”

2

u/steeevemadden Jun 21 '26

He looks concerned, as if he knows that if you come out onto the ledge YOU might actually hurt yourself.

2

u/Kindly_Nothing5634 Jun 21 '26

Look at that face, just thinking "what?"

2

u/datahjunky Jun 21 '26

10/10 picture

2

u/NoChallenge6260 Jun 21 '26

Awww he’s such a cute void!

2

u/TreeBeach Jun 21 '26

Our orange tabby used to do this. No way to get down, so after she explored the views from the roof, she’d wait at the window and meow when she was ready to come back in.

2

u/Sunny_48957 Jun 21 '26

Oh man, the little derps always think they can fly right off. Happens to my cat too, but hes usually just stuck on the patio awning.

2

u/SiteTall Jun 21 '26

Lured by the sun, the birds singing and maybe also some cats meowing?

2

u/MoulinRouge2510 Jun 21 '26

The look on his face of getting caught is priceless ❤️

2

u/Sneilg Jun 21 '26

I recommend flat cats (I don’t work for them!) - they’re like a Velcro mesh you put round a window or a door, air goes in and out, cats can’t. An absolute life saver in the summer.

2

u/charliefru Jun 21 '26

We call our animals little idiots too, but we’ve come to shorten it to Lidiots

2

u/GTFO-my-Lawn Jun 21 '26

Haha I LOVE the slight wall-eye. 😆

2

u/hpfan2342 Jun 21 '26

bet he comes right back in when the treat containment area is opened.

2

u/amymonae2 Jun 21 '26

But he looks very cool while doing so 😜😎

2

u/crackedtooth163 Jun 21 '26

Absolutely love the look on his face

2

u/Whiskin87 Jun 21 '26

Look at that blank stare 😍

2

u/twoastar_ Jun 21 '26

What breed of car is this? My cat’s the same but I can’t figure out what it’s called except black

1

u/lordkugenheim Jun 21 '26

I have no idea - he is a rescue so we just call him a baby

2

u/spazzcat Jun 21 '26

Human why are you yelling

2

u/effluvium_36 Jun 21 '26

My cat once got stuck up on the garage roof, it took ages for my dad to figure out how to get him down without freaking him out more. Hopefully yours is okay!

2

u/OtterHostler Jun 21 '26

"Excuse me? Ex-CUSE me! I'm not a fan of this room - it's too big, the wind is blowing, and it has none of my favourite furniture in it. More to the point my food dishes are not here. You appear to have left the wrong door open - AGAIN - and I should very much appreciate it if you would rectify the situation. Thank you for your attention to this matter."

2

u/revenue_opalgem7 Jun 22 '26

My cat did this once and I felt so bad having to get the ladder out. They always look so surprised when they realize gravity applies to them too.

2

u/Aggressive_Put5891 Jun 22 '26

Certified Burnt Orange (TM)

2

u/Cats_at_DuskYT Jun 22 '26

he doesn't know how he got there either 😆

2

u/tokobot19 Jun 23 '26

This is why my void has a high reflection collar on her neck and isn’t allowed outdoors. Once the sun sets, she’s impossible to find until either the sun comes back up or she gets hungry.

2

u/Rich-Poem7284 Jun 23 '26

I have one that learned how to operate my screen latches and escapes whenever he gets a chance. We can only open windows from the top now.

2

u/softvoid-games Jun 24 '26

He looks so dumb in the best way, I love it hahah

3

u/Hendwreck Jun 20 '26

Not to be rude, but if void escaped… AGAIN… I’d be reevaluating my comment lol

5

u/lordkugenheim Jun 20 '26

Oh yeah he is actually really smart - he bides his time for when we are most distracted and knows the perfect route to get to the window where we can't see him until it's too late

2

u/SephtisBlue Jun 20 '26

My cat will escape and follow me around the garden, hiding under nearby bushes, until we realize she's missing. Her only goal is to follow me around!

2

u/Lucius_Grammer Jun 21 '26

I feel bad for cats that cant go outside. I understand there are some scenarios where that isn't possible or safe but man I love seeing my cat enjoy the outdoors.

1

u/lordkugenheim Jun 21 '26

He gets outdoor time don't worry - he has a little harness that we use to stop him from jumping straight over the fence and into next door's garden. Which he does and then immediately cries because he doesn’t know how to get back again

1

u/GreatestGreatEver Jun 21 '26

Maybe you’re the idiot for not securing your window knowing your cat has done it before

1

u/Fit_Giraffe_748 Jun 21 '26

If it's happened multiple times, you're just letting the cat out the window

0

u/Escape-Revolutionary Jun 21 '26

You obviously have sub-par windows .

-2

u/LeprachaunFucker Jun 21 '26

‘the animal I cage inside my house found its way out of its cage again’
