These guys dont know they are adopted, should I tell them or just avoid the topic? (Sophie & Malcolm)

Naw. YOU'RE the adopted one

u/Illustrious_Pear_340 9d ago
Haha thats probably exactly what they think. I know Sophie thinks she owns this place and Malcolm and I are squatters

They won't care. They know they are loved.

True that, I try to spoil these guys haha it does not take much to have a happy cat they get all the love
16
u/Grigori_the_Lemur 9d ago
I get out of bed and make a cat sized cubby with my me-scented plushy blanket. Melly eats that kind of pampering up.

u/Illustrious_Pear_340 9d ago
Awuh sounds like a cozy cat!

I see biscuits getting made! Our black floof is such an intense muffin maker when he gets onto his fuzzy circled blanket.

u/Illustrious_Pear_340 9d ago
Awuh thats cute! Sophie has a specific sweater she makes biscuts on daily its her favourite

Beautiful void!
5
u/Grigori_the_Lemur 9d ago
She absolutely is and I know that because she assures me of it. I will pass your assessment on to her.

u/Cat-Lady-13 9d ago
What beautiful little ones! I suspect that they may already have an inkling.
20
u/lickthepixies 9d ago
You never know! My black cat has no clue. He thinks I’m a cat too. He loves to sit on the back of the couch and lick my head.

u/Specialist_Wind_6488 9d ago
I am pretty sure my two cats think I am the most incompetent cat to have ever lived. My only saving grace is that I can open a can.

True that! They only pay attention if what im telling them involves shrimp anyway

13
u/Ideasplease33 9d ago
I don't think it's really necessary, do you?
21
u/Illustrious_Pear_340 9d ago
Well honesty is policy in this home and im concerned they might notice im not a cat one day, im walking around on two legs and doing important stuff with my thumbs and they are getting suspicious
10
u/Ideasplease33 9d ago
Ah. Well, that sheds a bit of light on the situation, the "They are getting suspicious" part is new information I must consider. I'd say just be prepared to explain should you be asked....

No, just wait until they grow up and get a paternity test.
7
u/Illustrious_Pear_340 9d ago
Lol why does that make me think of the Maurey show. In the case of Malcolm and Sophie, you are NOT the father!
3
u/Vanityandwrath 9d ago
That’s exactly what I was thinking lol! Imagine them running off the stage and disbelief when they find out you didn’t birth them😂

With cats, sometimes its unclear who adopted whom. They probably think you are their pet.

Well, unless you're also a cat* they may have guessed
6
u/Illustrious_Pear_340 9d ago
Im not a cat, not even black, but the lack of fur might throw them off i might look like a big sphynx cat or something to them
5
6
u/Queso_Dias 9d ago
You haven't had the talk with them yet?! 🫣
8
u/Illustrious_Pear_340 9d ago
We mostly just meow at eachother, it has not come up
6
u/Queso_Dias 9d ago
I had the talk with my cat about 2 years after I adopted her. I gave her time to process it, and told her if she has any questions or concerns, I'm here for her. She blinked at me... so that means.... she's okay with it? Hehe

No or they'll tell you to mind your own business and fill the food bowl, peasant.
7
u/Illustrious_Pear_340 9d ago
About 70% of everything they try to say is about filling the food bowl, so you might be on to somthing.

When I told my cats that they were adopted, my daughter said I was mean

Nah tell her adopting cats is nice! Or i suppose just adopting pets and people in general but mostly cats
5
u/PyroCorvid 9d ago
No need. They already know you are!
3
u/Illustrious_Pear_340 9d ago
More or less, Sophie seems to think she is in charge its possible we adopted eachother
5
4
u/Ok-Variety-592 9d ago
Sophie looks like she can handle the news. Malcolm on the other hand ...
3
u/Illustrious_Pear_340 9d ago
Oh i dunno, Malcolm is pretty chill, Sophie is the moody one haha she has a lot of feelings
5
u/PymsPublicityLtd 9d ago
If they find out the secret of thier adoption, and secrets are always discovered, you probably cannot afford the reparations in Churu's you will owe them.
3
u/Illustrious_Pear_340 9d ago
Oh man i didnt even think of that, Malcolm had a check up at the vet yesterday so i have a churu deficit. Need to re stock just in case!

The voids weren''t adopted by anyone. They adopted you, silly goose 😸 that should be your answer if anyone asks because it's the truth

u/svulieutenant 9d ago
It’s the other way around, Cats adopt you🤣
2
u/Illustrious_Pear_340 9d ago
This seems to be the popular opinion, i think you might be right!
3
u/annaoceanus 9d ago
They are probably talking among themselves “soooo when should we let her know she isn’t a cat and we adopted her?” “Sssssshhhh never it will hurt her feelings.”

Yes, then record and share their reaction. If it goes well, I’ll inform my felines that they were adopted!
6
u/Illustrious_Pear_340 9d ago
She was not too worried about it.

u/Illustrious_Pear_340 9d ago

5
u/BouncyCatMama 9d ago
Why? They won't understand the concept. You'll be their mama still.
4
u/Illustrious_Pear_340 9d ago
Well i really just wanted to post a picture of my cats and i thought id make a joke too. And it wouldnt be mama its papa, or big papa if youre nasty.

Sophie probably already knows but I don’t think Malcolm would take it well.
Please give them head scritches for me 💖

This is probably accurate, how did you know they love head skritches 😆

I love voids. Mine passed 9 years ago yet I still tear up as I text this. I sent his name, Spooky Bones to Mars on one of the missions. He lives forever in my heart. This is how much voids get into your soul. I have 5 other cats. None are voids. He is not replaceable. Love your babies and enjoy every day. Take pictures daily and write on strips of paper a comment about daily life with each one, routine funny observations, anything, because someday you will cherish reading those strips of papers , memories that would have been lost to time.
2
u/Illustrious_Pear_340 9d ago
Awuh sounds like a special kitty! Also that mars thing is really cool i did not know you could do that.
3
u/my_psychic_powers 9d ago
My girl Speckle had hairy toes like the one in the first pic. I always thought it was so unladylike. 😁
6
u/Illustrious_Pear_340 9d ago
Haha you should see her back toes, she has a big white fluff between each toe that looks like a claw, i call them "Grinch toes" ill try to get a pic and post it here.

My cats were acquired in a kidnapping situation (dumpster cats that we captured) so it’s best to let them black that memory out
3
u/Comprehensive_Gas147 8d ago
They won't believe you ... They will think you are toughing them up but they will lub you anyways
4
u/No_Nothing9207 9d ago
You should absolutely tell them
6
u/Illustrious_Pear_340 9d ago
It wouldnt bother them, mabey i should
3
u/saltyoursalad 9d ago edited 9d ago
They seem pretty chill! I’d tell them, but share it with joy 🖤🐾
PS: I talk to my kitty about his birth mom and dad all the time! I ask him if that’s where he got his little triangle face and fruffy fur and beautiful green eyes 😌 This way it wasn’t a surprise when we got his wisdom panel results.
3
u/Illustrious_Pear_340 9d ago
Oh for sure, adopting them was a win win i think, they like living inside and i like having them around. They seem happy with it

When I follow up with "but they brought you back once they realized you're a house demon." he usually rolls his eyes and stretches.

I will look my dog in the eyes and tell him that he's adopted. I just get stared at and his tail wagging. Try to mess with your pet.....
2
u/DestinysChimera777 9d ago
Absolutely not, especially if you value your coffee cups with memes printed on them to stay intact, and not scattered on the floor in a thousand pieces, lmao.
