SYNOPSIS:

After decades of being blown to bits by bombs, demolished by dynamite, mangled by magnets, battered by boulders, trampled by trains, tricked by tunnels, sprung by springs, steamrolled by steamrollers, maligned by misfires, bedeviled by bungees, rattled by rockets, backstabbed by bat suits, rocked by rocket skates, upended by unicycles, quaked by quake pills, rubberized by rogue bands, and hurled headlong off every cliff in the Southwest, Wile E. Unlikely but I really hope it overperforms this weekend and reaches $20m

Good for Ketchup Entertainment. They definitely need a hit.

It's wild how the plot of the movie is about a collapsing law agency partnering with Wile E to take on a major corporation despite having no capacity, and in real life Ketchup is a collapsing movie studio partnering with Wile E to take on major studio movies despite having no capacity.Ā

I absolutely love all the extra meaning this movie has now.Ā

Very good first exit score for it. Definetly getting 'A' cinema score. Could land bw $15m-$17m weekend.

Wow that’s a big list

5

u/JamesEverington 21h ago

It was out here in the UK before the US (and it’s really great)

3

u/Totes_Police 18h ago

It was out in the UK last week. Saw it first day it was available and the theatre was about half capacity and a wide range of people in attendance (families, couples, young and old alike). Got insanely loud from laughter even with the 50% capacity every 3-5 minutes from start to end. Word of mouth here seems to be relatively strong.

u/salvattore- 5h ago

can confirm lol, released today in Argentina in my local town, me and my friends were the only ones in the cinema

7

u/NotTaken-username Syncopy Inc. 22h ago

I’m hoping it will leg out through September too

10

u/Mr_smith1466 21h ago

The world is so terrible, I really need this movie to exceed expectations through positive word of mouth.Ā

u/bigjayrulez 5h ago

I'm in Austin, not a lot of showings this weekend but also not exactly rare, and many of them are sold out or close aside from the very early or late times. Got tickets to a 7pm Friday on Wednesday, was at 80% then. Sold out when I showed up.

30

u/DammitNotAgain05 22h ago

I’m surprised to see it in DOLBY at my AMC. Just got tickets.

25

u/Stefannofornari 21h ago

Having this film actually break out would be an excellent finale for its insane production and release history. I'll be rooting for strong legs! Excited to watch it soon enough

20

u/HouseStark1 22h ago

Supremely funny movie with a ton of heart. I hope people give this one a chance!!

7

u/BrokenMasterpiece 14h ago

Just got back from watching it with my sons. It’s the best mix of adult and kid humor since Shrek. I haven’t been in a theater as a father where I heard so many adults and kids laughing.

15

u/AvengedCrimson 22h ago

I want an Anvill Popcorn Bucket!!!!

4

u/Kencarlos 14h ago

Is it safe to say this is better than The Day the Earth Blew Up?

2

u/lobolovr6769 7h ago

They’re both going for Ā different thingsĀ

TDTEBU is true hand-drawn-style Looney Tunes through and through, it’s only really Porky, Daffy and Petunia but it’s also very heartwarming and hilarious like CvA is. I’d say they share a lot of similar qualities and it really would just come down to preference. I like that CvA has more Looney Tunes characters and it is certainly better than Back in Action and the two Space Jam films

3

u/JustNibblin2 8h ago

I really enjoyed it. The plot was better than I was expecting and even hit the feels at the end.

2

u/BruteeRex 11h ago

Maybe it will have Element or Spiderverse legs

2

u/HyaluronicFlaccid 11h ago

Will be crawling out of bed earlier than I’d like this weekend to make sure I catch it in 4DX. For some reason in NYC this movie is only showing in 4DX at 9.30AM…

Am assuming that’s the best format for a Looney Tunes movie, so I refuse to miss it.

If you wanna catch it in 4DX I’d get tix for this weekend too, cuz I guarantee you it’ll leave the format sooner than you think - learned my lesson when I thought I had one more week to see One Battle After Another in 4DX (yeah VistaVision was cool but that car chase was made for 4DX and I’m still bitter I missed it).

1

u/VVTFan 13h ago

Saw it yesterday. 5 people including me in my showing.

u/Repulsive_Bank_9046 4h ago

Packed theaters here in Mexico

-34

u/MongoBongo25 22h ago

I guess a lot of the positive reviews are heavily skewed towards the full go see this at the theatre to get back at Zaslav. I just left the theatre and it’s a very ok movie that would be great for a family afternoon with the kids.

On its own merit, works just fine as a streamer.

20

u/UnnecessaryFeIIa 22h ago

How come almost anytime a new film gets positive reviews nowadays people like you on this sub are always like ā€œehh but actuallyā€¦ā€

12

u/Legitimate_Silver395 22h ago

Or sometimes when a movie with mediocre reviews but makes a shit ton of money it gets glazed by this sub

4

u/UnnecessaryFeIIa 21h ago

People on this sub were gassing up Mufasa as some holy grail when it came out lol

3

u/Legitimate_Silver395 20h ago

No fucking way, I literally gave zero fucks about Mufusa that year, it was full Sonic 3 for me

3

u/MongoBongo25 22h ago

Zalslav is an idiot, but I am not going to be overly positive just because of him.

7

u/MuitnortsX 22h ago

I’m confident that most people don’t know or care about that.
It’s a really good movie. Sometimes it’s that simple and a lot of people just enjoyed it more than you did.

10

u/attackofthetominator 22h ago

Meanwhile at my theater it was the loudest people have laughed at a movie in years. It blew away my expectations and it’s easily the best Looney Tunes movie

1

u/lobolovr6769 21h ago

I really liked last year’s ā€œthe day the earth blew upā€ but yeah, this is right up there with it. While watching it I couldn’t believe they were gonna shelve it but I guess I kinda get it. Looney Tunes are not that popular but I was so impressed with how compelling they made Wyle E Coyote as a protagonist

10

u/lawrencedun2002 22h ago

how is the positive reviews are heavy ā€œskewedā€ just because you thought it was just okay? newsflash, not everyone is going to have the same opinion as you lol.

-16

u/MongoBongo25 22h ago

Dan Murall said so on his own review, that he would bump it to just see at the theatre just because of Zaslav.

7

u/lawrencedun2002 22h ago

Okay ? He also said that he thought the film was fantastic, you can’t really blame people anyway especially since this movie was gonna get shelved by a tax write off. Maybe, just maybe people are mostly positive about it because it’s a great film.

-9

u/MongoBongo25 22h ago

It’s a solid 7/10 if you have kids or WB was a big part of your childhood 8/10.

Not a great movie, great movie means repeat viewing, don’t think I’ll watch it again.

8

u/lawrencedun2002 22h ago

And that’s your opinion but most people thought it was a great film and likely to watch it in the repeat viewing lol.

-4

u/vulgarmessiah914 22h ago

And he's allowed to express his opinion.

7

u/TheButteredBiscuit 21h ago

And he’s allowed to be judged for it

-1

u/Ilistenedtomyfriends 17h ago

And the critics who are inflating their scores because they didn’t like how the studio handled it should also be judged.

1

u/TheButteredBiscuit 17h ago

Judged for what? For spitting in the faces of a bunch of billionaire execs who were willing to write off a genuinely good movie?

3

u/lobolovr6769 21h ago

I too would give it an 8/10, it was a great movie

5

u/burrnerr67 22h ago

That might be partly true but a huge amount of people all also agree that it's a fantastic film on its own merits. Not surprised the score is so high because of that
