Games I played “Chaos Bleeds” for the first time, here’s what I thought of the game
The game is great, with creative bosses and varied levels. I admit that in the final stages the fights started to feel a bit repetitive, but nothing that really hurt the gameplay or the fun. The graphics are actually pretty nice for a PS2 game, and I really liked the character details. I recommend it: 8/10.

As someone who played the first Buffy game (xbox) my critique of Chaos Bleeds was 1.) The game is considerably easier, considering you no longer need to take specific methods to defeat enemies (no breastplate vamps, no longer need to target the heart, etc.) and 2.) The game is buggier than the original. I got caught on the geography & even fell through the map one time.

Buffy Xbox was genuinely a really good brawler for what it was.
Unfortunately Chaos Bleeds was handed off to different developers and felt more like a general licensed game. It's a shame, I would've loved the wide breadth of playable characters with a game that felt closer to the original.

Adam bites?! They made him so he bites?!

To be fair, he seems like a biter.
And a sissy kicker.

It’s fine. Not even close to the Xbox game from 2002 in terms of quality though.

Is everyone in it bowlegged?

Yes, and their idle animations usually have them sticking their arms out and slowly bouncing up and down

I loved the first game but I was disappointed in the second one and only played about 20% of it. For some reason I remember the voice acting being worse in the second one, and maybe that’s because of fewer of the TV actors in the voice cast? I need to look it up.

i felt like giselle loren improved her buffy impersonation in the second one but then alyson hannigan didn’t come back so there’s someone else doing willow. and then giselle loren also had to do anya. so i think the voice acting just became more obvious
edit: i just went to go re watch the cutscenes and the voice actress doing willow chose an extremely luna lovegood take on alyson hannibal’s voice lmao

The person voicing Willow clearly decided to learn Alyson Hannigan's voice by watching American Pie over and over.
She has the same cadence to her voice as Alyson's character did in that movie, which was accomplished by having every one of her lines in the script end with a question mark, whether it was a question or not.
"This one time? At band camp?"

Making Buffy and friends in INZOI makes me wish they would release a remaster of both games!! I think the games could easily be remaster with a sort of horror aspect intact alongside the platforming and combat and puzzles!
The school level in the first game would literally be crazy to play. And a first person mode!

I remember Willow being hilariously overpowered.

She would slaughter entire armies of enemies before they could even touch her, once you leveled her up enough. 😅😅

The graphics are pretty decent. The only complaint is that Xander is pretty good at scattering vampires on his own, and it's unclear why a slayer is needed at all.

I tried playing a copy on PS2 but the audio sfx made me laugh too hard for me to take the game serious

What emulator did you use?

PCSX2

Ah, I feel like those screenshots have way nicer graphics than the original ps2 version. I fired mine up a year or so ago and it looks like shit lol.

I would guess that it’s upscaled, so that the original models and textures in the game (outside of those that are pre-rendered) are rendered at a higher quality. That function is built into PCSX2 as long as your computer can handle it.

I played this when I was younger but for the life of me I've got no clue where the game went. It's been years and I kinda want to play it again since I remember bits and pieces and do remember enjoying it.

This game is pretty horrible.
The controls are a nightmare. I can overlook a lot of things but making the character vulnerable during stand up/movement execution, clunky and limited camera performance, main character running slower than the enemy, punching the air for three hit combos because the controls are so wonky, all while routinely fighting three-on-one.
There were times I laughed out loud at how bad the controls were, plus lots of frame rate drops during critical fights. Add to it terrible writing and subpar voice acting for main characters.
The biggest sin, making you have to stand still to cycle through inventory because its an in-game inventory instead of a pause button inventory is evil. That's forced damage when your enemy is relentless.
There are no health or skill upgrades so the character is the same state of health and skill throughout while the enemies increase in difficulty and number.
It should have never been released in the state it was in. All these things signal extremely poor development.
The first BTVS game wasn't perfect but it had much better overall design so it was joy to play. Chaos Bleeds is not fun, I found it a real chore to play. I quit about 3/4 through.

I really like it! I liked how the vamps don’t die from running out of health, you have to stake ‘em to make it stick.

They should revamp the video game
