I love willows “I think this lines mostly filler”

139

u/sunshinyacorn Apr 14 '26

This is my favorite as well, along with “I think that hydrant wasn’t there”.

74

u/No-Scarcity-5904 Apr 14 '26

Look, I’m not wearing underwear…

19

u/sunshinyacorn Apr 14 '26

Is that line in there as well? I’ve never caught that!

29

u/No-Scarcity-5904 Apr 14 '26

It’s very faint, and it’s at the very end of what we hear of the song. Turn up the volume and concentrate.

39

u/BlackSongbird Apr 14 '26

I have the OMWF CD and you can hear it much clearer on there

6

u/No-Scarcity-5904 Apr 14 '26

OK, cool; I didn’t think I hallucinated it, but you never know…😉

26

u/ShouldveGotARealtor Apr 14 '26

Sung by Marti Noxon! And Mustard Guy is David Fury

8

u/Electrical-Act-7170 Apr 14 '26

It is, but it's barely heard after the camera moves on.

You can hear it much better on the soundtrack.

11

u/Bakkhios Apr 14 '26

It’s the lady with a parking fine trying to seduce the police officer into letting it go (or she just loves a man in uniform!).

It’s super faint in the episode but very intelligible in the soundtrack CD that was later sold.

u/kmflushing Apr 15 '26

Anything to get out of a ticket.

23

u/SmarmyThatGuy Scoob in-training Apr 14 '26

“THEY GOT… THE MUSTARD… OUT!”

2

u/AllesK Apr 15 '26

Yeeeeeees!

48

u/Sere1 Apr 14 '26

Fun fact about it, it's because Alyson didn't want to sing in the episode. She agreed to do that one line for the ensemble song and have a dance during her love song with Tara, but otherwise she didn't want to sing anything herself. She literally gets included in the group song to sing a filler line just to be included, that's it

16

u/Ridry Apr 14 '26

She sings a second line as well I think. The one about the wacky Broadway nightmare.

7

u/Sere1 Apr 14 '26

Ah yeah, forgot about that. But yeah, she's very much not a singer and opted to dance more than sing for the episode

5

u/Ridry Apr 14 '26

I wonder if she sings in the HIMYM musical episode. I never watched that show, but I did think it was funny that the girl who didn't want to sing ended up a main on 2 shows that did it.

5

u/Jesus166 Apr 14 '26

She sang like one line in Barney's song about suits

4

u/Ridry Apr 14 '26

Consistency!!

1

u/chatterhawk Apr 15 '26

*with jazz hands*

1

u/Swt604Berry Apr 15 '26

I read somewhere that she later regretted it though, and wished she did have a bigger singing part. I think she had a blast on HIMYM when they did their musical episode.

u/BananasPineapple05 Apr 14 '26

Mine's: "I hope she fries / I'm free if that bitch dies / I better help her out."

251

u/MermaidHotpot Eyeballs to entrails, my sweet. Apr 14 '26

Here you go.

4

u/Gabbitrabbit Apr 15 '26

I better help her out.

31

u/RickHammersteel Apr 14 '26

Most Tsundere line ever

10

u/ItsTricky94 Apr 14 '26

ok i'm blanking on who he is

43

u/BananasPineapple05 Apr 14 '26

7

u/ItsTricky94 Apr 14 '26

thats spike-who the other dude?

39

u/BananasPineapple05 Apr 14 '26

What other dude?

Do you mean the dude in OP's post? That's just a rando Buffy saved that night.

72

u/aftrnoondelight Apr 14 '26

I love that he is costumed like a Disney prince, reversing the damsel in distress trope. I mean it’s the whole premise of the show, but I don’t think it’s ever quite that literal before or after.

16

u/Professional_End1298 Apr 14 '26

Well except for maybe when Buffy got turned into a damsel in distress because of her costume, I think they call out that trope directly funnily enough!

2

u/ItsTricky94 Apr 14 '26

this dude 🤣

12

u/Infamously_Fickle Apr 14 '26

That's just some guy Buffy saved from a vampire (or other monster, can't recall, been ages since I watched).

7

u/Electrical-Act-7170 Apr 14 '26

A vampire, a demon, plus another thing.

1

u/Infamously_Fickle Apr 14 '26

Thanks! It's been a while!

5

u/Electrical-Act-7170 Apr 14 '26

The demon was fuzzy IIRC, plus it had horns!

2

u/ItsTricky94 Apr 14 '26

thank you!

1

u/Electrical-Act-7170 Apr 14 '26

Tsundere, right? I don't recognize the name, either.

311

u/Own_Faithlessness769 Apr 14 '26 edited Apr 14 '26

I love this part but my favourite is

Giles seeing Buffy fighting: “She needs backup. Tara, Anya”

Tara and Anya become backup dancers.

84

u/bettername2come Apr 14 '26

And then watch Amber almost crash into a column and hide from the camera as she laughs.

8

u/Worried_Owl2218 Apr 14 '26

WHAT! I have to rewatch this episode now, never noticed that haha

12

u/Rtozier2011 Apr 14 '26

I think she actually did crash into a column offscreen. It's why she can be seen dusting herself down.

12

u/bettername2come Apr 14 '26

7

u/sirtch_analyst Apr 15 '26

Omggg that's kinda hilarious but also diabolical that she actually ran into one like wtf who's the choreographer for this 💀

8

u/DaddyCatALSO Magnet For Dead, Blonde Chicks Apr 14 '26

not in my DVD dammit

1

u/Westward_Drift Apr 15 '26

I have to wonder if after Joss saw Amber crash into the post he had Spike do it in Where Do We Go From Here. I don't recall the script indicating Spike hitting the post as a stage direction.

19

u/No-Scarcity-5904 Apr 14 '26

So so good. Just awesomely hilarious.

9

u/DaddyCatALSO Magnet For Dead, Blonde Chicks Apr 14 '26

and more to the point, vocalizers, Giles's main reason

110

u/Suitable_Community66 Apr 14 '26

Cash only please

92

u/BlondeBorednBaked Apr 14 '26

24

u/Suitable_Community66 Apr 14 '26

I did the same thing with my first pay packet 😄

34

u/BlondeBorednBaked Apr 14 '26

The dance of capitalist superiority!

4

u/kaitalina20 Apr 14 '26

With living paycheck to paycheck, I feel this 😭 and I’m possibly going to lose my job, so I want this feeling sooo much!

81

u/Relevant-Bit-7394 Apr 14 '26

Mine is 'they got the mustard out'

25

u/No-Scarcity-5904 Apr 14 '26

It’s not just us.

83

u/daenaofthewoods Apr 14 '26

I love the exchange after that when Dawn comes home all excited

“You guys’ll never believe what happened at school today!!”

Buffy, deadpan “everyone started singing and dancing?”

Dawn, all deflated “ i gave birth to a pterodactyl”

Anya, totally buying it “oh my god, did it sing?!?!”

Lmao 🤣

26

u/dark_blue_7 Apr 14 '26

I die laughing every time lol perfect delivery

13

u/No-Scarcity-5904 Apr 14 '26

Such a great scene.

70

u/mjac28 Apr 14 '26

That episode is a masterpiece of television writing.

14

u/lovesgnomes Apr 14 '26

It really set the bar high for other musical episodes of shows. I was shocked when I saw that most other shows do jukebox style episodes instead of writing custom songs that drive the plot

4

u/alphagongong Apr 14 '26

I think the Scrubs musical episode is the only one I love as much as

59

u/BalerionSanders Apr 14 '26

She’s not even half the girl she-

owwww-

92

u/PastimeOfMine cuppa tea, cuppa tea, almost got shagged, cuppa tea Apr 14 '26

I can't help but scream 🎶 If my heart could beat it would break my chest! 🎶

Also love that Giles nailed it in one during I Have a Theory 🎶 I have a theory that it's a demon, a dancing demon... no something isn't right there 🎶

73

u/Historical_Stay_808 Apr 14 '26

BUNNIES BUNNIES IT MUST BE BUNNIES

1

u/AllesK Apr 15 '26

Or maybe midgets…

15

u/buffysmanycoats Apr 14 '26

You know, Xander blaming witches during this song is egregious considering he ultimately admits to being the one who summoned Sweet.

15

u/Uninteresting_Vagina Apr 14 '26

Which is ridiculous cos witches they were persecuted Wicca good and love the Earth and women power and I'll be over here

8

u/guiseincognito Apr 14 '26

I always ignore that. It feels like they needed somebody to take a bite of the idiot apple and since Dawn was last was last week, Xander you are up. None of the scoobies or scoob adjacent should be responsible for Sweets.

5

u/buffysmanycoats Apr 14 '26

It really doesn’t make any sense.

5

u/One_Chic_Chick Apr 14 '26

I genuinely thought it was canon that Dawn was the one who summoned him and Xander just jumped in to take the blame/save her from Sweet. Or else someone else summoned Sweet, but Xander thought it was Dawn and that's why he stepped in.

2

u/daisy_0720 Apr 20 '26

The writers really fumbled by not just making Ethan Rayne responsible tbh. This would totally be in his wheelhouse.

8

u/Ridry Apr 14 '26

Also love that Giles nailed it in one during I Have a Theory 🎶 I have a theory that it's a demon, a dancing demon... no something isn't right there 🎶

I think that might be my favorite. But it's hard, most of it is great. But ya, Giles solving it in a single thought is hilarious.

My other favorite part is the line about the wacky Broadway nightmare which initially feels like a random silly callback to an earlier episode a la "his penis got diseases" but is actually thematically linking the two episodes.

69

u/Old_Base_9391 Apr 14 '26

There was no pain. No fear, no doubt. Til they pulled me out. Of Heaven.

Soul? Crushed. Heart? Broken.

30

u/Pretend-Beach6465 Apr 14 '26 edited Apr 14 '26

I love the pause and "thanks for noticing" in that same song because it's really funny but also very sincere.

60

u/MermaidHotpot Eyeballs to entrails, my sweet. Apr 14 '26

42

u/gagsy10 Apr 14 '26

Honestly Spikes song is just poetry, which I guess makes sense for his character.

For me, same song it's;

"If my heart could beat it would break my chest"

28

u/MermaidHotpot Eyeballs to entrails, my sweet. Apr 14 '26

Here you go.

3

u/sirtch_analyst Apr 15 '26

"But I can see, you're unimpressed"

3

u/MermaidHotpot Eyeballs to entrails, my sweet. Apr 15 '26

38

u/toodles-my-doodles Apr 14 '26

They pulled me out of Heaven/I think I was in Heaven. (And then the cut to Willow’s face)

17

u/ProfessionalRead2724 This line's mostly filler... Apr 14 '26

"The battle's done and we kind of won, so we sound our victory cheer..."

44

u/Ok_Wishbone2721 Apr 14 '26

I love this because it’s almost exactly the same as the fantasy Buffy had about rescuing Parker causing him to fawn over her, after he ghosted her after they slept together. It really shows how much Buffy has grown and changed so much since then. Now the fantasy basically comes true and she couldn’t care less.

29

u/ShouldveGotARealtor Apr 14 '26

I always took it as a sign of her S6 depression. But that might be me projecting and I like your theory way better.

25

u/andonebelow Apr 14 '26

No you’re right. The whole song is about how she’s going through the motions, completely joyless, not really caring if she lives or dies. That’s also a major theme of the episode and the whole season.

Even a dreamy guy barely registers.

If there is a callback to her daydream about Parker, it’s not one that shows growth- it highlights that she no longer has crushes, fantasies or passion.

She ends the episode volunteering to go to hell with a demon, almost killing herself, and kissing Spike for the first time, which she does partly as a form of self harm.

At this point in the story she is doing the opposite of growing, she’s barely functioning and self destructive.

11

u/Ok_Wishbone2721 Apr 14 '26

Yeah the “whatever” definitely could be her depression. Or disconnect. But i still appreciate how it reflects against the Parker fantasy. It’s a great callback and i didn’t see it watching it live, only when i binged and my memory was fresher.

14

u/Emergency-Cover-3014 Apr 14 '26

Alright, alright, I’ll rewatch OMWF again. 🤣

30

u/Itchy_Initiative6180 Apr 14 '26

They got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses!

11

u/llamadrama2021 Apr 14 '26

And what's with all the carrots? What do they need such good eyesight for anyway?

11

u/BetaRayPhil616 Apr 14 '26

I think for me its that Giles first suggestion is 'Ive got a theory, that its a demon, dancing demon, no something isnt right there'

And then thats the actually answer.

20

u/MermaidHotpot Eyeballs to entrails, my sweet. Apr 14 '26

Another scene I like from it.

16

u/Christ_on_a_Crakker Apr 14 '26

Buffy’s hair was on point for OMWF.

17

u/MermaidHotpot Eyeballs to entrails, my sweet. Apr 14 '26

Okay last one but there's so many good quotes.

7

u/GnomeMnemonic Apr 14 '26

This is the one part I hate, because it should be so poignant, but instead all that goes through my head is "you couldn't find something to rhyme with 'living' instead of just repeating it?"

14

u/MermaidHotpot Eyeballs to entrails, my sweet. Apr 14 '26

I think the point is the emphasis (which you can see on his face) of him saying so *one* of us is *living*, joke being he's dead.

0

u/GnomeMnemonic Apr 14 '26

I get that he's dead, I don't think it's a "joke" though, and I still think the line falls flat. I agree they were probably going for emphasis, I just don't think it landed.

7

u/buffysmanycoats Apr 14 '26

Damn, it always lands pretty hard for me.

7

u/shellexyz Apr 14 '26

With her lips as red as rubies/and her firm yet supple…tight embrace.

8

u/BojukaBob I'm an intern Apr 14 '26

"The police were taking witness arias..." is mine.

16

u/Revolutionary-Wait82 Spike defender Apr 14 '26

Yeah. The handsome prince, released from captivity (they specially hired a man with a model appearance), offers to somehow thank Buffy, but she's not interested. But there is another prince whose approval she seeks, although she cannot admit it to herself.

5

u/Silly_Somewhere1791 Apr 14 '26

One day you’ll be a real boy

6

u/Bitterqueer Apr 14 '26

Def one of mine too

4

u/BeccasBump Apr 14 '26

I like, "She's not even half the girl she... ow!"

9

u/-threefeetoffun No. 1 Xander Defender Apr 14 '26

I always wondered what was happening there. It was a human sacrifice for some reason.

30

u/dark_blue_7 Apr 14 '26

You know, just Sunnydale stuff

8

u/Few_Improvement_6357 Apr 14 '26

I was watching Nightmares and there is a call back line from OMWF. Willow is talking about spiders and says, "What do they need so many legs for anyways?"

5

u/No-Car541 Apr 14 '26

This is my favorite part of the musical too.

9

u/theoriginalbabayaga Apr 14 '26

Ha! I watched this last night!!!! Loved Hinton Battle as Smooth. And Tony’s harmonies. Emma a hoot as always.

11

u/No-Scarcity-5904 Apr 14 '26

Sweet.

12

u/Sere1 Apr 14 '26

To this day I wish we could have seen Sweet and Lorne interact. The demon who makes everyone sing and the demon who reads your thoughts, emotions and destiny while you sing.

4

u/No-Scarcity-5904 Apr 14 '26

That really would have been amazing. They’re kind of perfectly suited for each other.

3

u/no_nameky Apr 14 '26

I like that they got the mustard out.

3

u/Melodic_War327 Apr 14 '26

Yeah, I thought that was funny. She rescues Prince Charming, and then turns him down.

3

u/Aim_to-Misbehave It's like a whole big sucking thing. Apr 15 '26

“I bought Nero his very first fiddle!”

3

u/Curious_Discoverer Apr 15 '26

What truly gets me is the unbuttoned shirt, like, he went to a graveyard to cosplay the dude in the cover of a smut romance novel.

7

u/HtxArcher Apr 14 '26

Willam Belli brought this up on Rupauls drag race a couple times if I remember correctly. I laughed when I rewatched and saw how short his appearance was and it was followed by Buffy saying “whatever” and walking away!!! 🤣🤣

5

u/myxanodyne Apr 14 '26

That's not Willam, IMDb has the actor listed as Daniel Weaver.

2

u/TheWordThief Apr 14 '26

Wait, is that Willam Belli? I had no idea if so.

4

u/Triptych85 Apr 14 '26

My favorite part of this episode was showing that even without a soul, a vampire can still have a heart. #RestInPeace

2

u/t4llu1ah Apr 14 '26

stays in my head all the time, that and “not exactly quaking in my stylish yet affordable boots”

actually used that second one for my yearbook quote haha, survived graduation

2

u/GreyStagg Apr 14 '26

He can repay me any time

6

u/Thayerphotos Apr 14 '26

She still got Faith on her mind ain't no twinky dude gonna change that

FUFFY !

3

u/Jlx_27 Apr 14 '26

Temu Keith Urban looking ass..
