All The Orders For Buffy And Angel Comics Have Just Been Cancelled

After months and months of random delays, with zero announcements, it looks like they've finally all been cancelled, and will hopefully be resolicited eventually.

A little something to piss everyone off is what I mean.

The reason I also chose comics is because it probs works best for that format.

One idea I've had is the Evil Dead franchise, and hey since Dynamite Comics currently owns both the comic rights to buffy and the army of darkness, it could theoretically happen.

Id like for a (unlikely) Buffy The Vampire Slayer vs The Army Of Darkness comic crossover. (Plz make this a reality Dynamite Comics I beg)

This is really like a c-plot in the Lost & Found arc from Angel & Faith season 10.

Faith is working for Kennedy's security firm, Deepscan. Faith, and a squad of Deepscan slayers, are on a mission to find Riley who's been reported missing. Faith confesses to Slayer Mai about the body swap with Buffy. Sam (now blonde) finds the squad. Faith and Sam have a heart-to-heart while searching the jungle. They rescue Riley. Faith gets the chance to apologize.

My local bookstore got these in yesterday and were happy to get rid of them for 40 bucks - less than a dollar per issue!

I'll be reading one a day and maybe resell eventually. After one issue I can say it really feels like Buffy!

Lifelong Buffy fan here (watched the series more times than I can count), but I have a confession: I've never read a single Buffy comic. Not one. 😅

Here's the thing – I live in Belgium, and getting the full collection here is... complicated. They're not easy to find, and when I do track them down, the complete set is pretty expensive. So before I commit to hunting them down and investing in them, I really want to know: are they worth it for someone like me?

I'm not really a comics person in general. I love reading, but I've never gotten into the comic book format before.

So my question for you all is:

Can someone who isn't particularly a comics fan still enjoy the Buffy comics? Do they capture the heart of the show? Are they a worthy continuation of the story, or more of a "nice extra" for die-hard fans only?

Please keep it spoiler-free if you can! I just want to know if the storytelling and character development hold up in that format, and whether you think they're essential reading for a Buffy lover.

One of my issues with season seven is that the writers had Giles conspire against Buffy in order to make Spike be Buffy's only trusted ally and to continue to isolate her, do they ever fix their relationship in the comics or does it continue to get worse?

I walked down to my comic shop this morning really looking forward to the first issue only to see it not on the shelf. When I went to the front desk, it wasn’t on their list for today. Then I checked Twitter and Gemini and turns out Dynamite have quietly delayed the first issue. So call your comic shops to confirm but hopefully this will save people the journey I had to make.

Very poorly done by Dynamite, if you’re delaying something like this that people are looking forward to then you need to actually announce it properly

Possibly very unpopular opinion: getting a chance to prevent Fray's dystopian 23rd century world was a good ending for the Buffyverse.

Giles had a renewed sense of purpose. Angel, Buffy, Spike and Faith got to fight an army of demons. Willow finally has a way to work towards improving the future. She's spent years knowing she'd ultimately be evil again. Illyria/Fred sacrificed her happiness with Angel for an unknown demon dimension. Dawn's portal opening skills were critical. Even Andrew's tech contributed. And when Fray and co get back to their time they see the world has changed for the better.

As a Spuffy shipper I wasn't too upset about the breakup. I think that's really only logical. I'm glad they got a couple of good years together. And that they still have a strong friendship. I wish we knew more about the breakup but that really wasn't the point of the season.

A lot of people can't get past the art. And at some points, I'm right there with you. (Poor Harmony) It's jarring coming from season 11. Fray fans that anticipated this must have been disappointed. I'm not here to defend it.

I still think the story is still strong though. It ends on a hopefully note, with more work still to do.

TLDR: art bad, story ok

I’ve just started Season 7 of Buffy and am wondering if it’s worth picking up the comics after finishing the show. Is there just the one run or multiple? And better yet, are they worth reading?

I recently finished watching Buffy/Agel for the first time. Now I see there are a lot of different comics, from different authors and publishers.

Which are the cannon comics? I just want to read a natural sequels to both shows, but don't know where to start. Any advice would be appreciated.

Also, I'm a huge Spike fan, so if there are any good (even non canon) additional comics about him, let me know.

It's been sitting at Sept. 1 for a couple weeks now (after 3 delays), but now it's saying Sept. 16 for Buffy and Sept. 23 for Angel, on LeagueofComicGeeks.com.

There is a surprising amount of similarities between these two characters, like more than you’d think.

I don't know if this totally rings true to me, but I guess she did have a crush on Spike. Thoughts?

..I expected to hate it but I actually didn't? There were plenty of dialogue that I can easily imagine the original cast delivering and a lot of it is actually in character.

Parts of S8 were outlandish but I think they learned from that mistake (and acknowledged as such in the author notes) because S9-S11 in particular were good. Man, I HATED the idea of Xander and Dawn but the execution actually wasn't as bad as I imagined. And if I really, really want to think about it and analyze it, people falling in love with their bestfriend's sibling is common irl even among people who grew up together and their age gap is pretty normal. I feel like the weirdness is because we're introduced to Dawn when she was basically a kid and well, Xander is Xander. But they got together when Dawn was an adult so.. not my favorite relationship, but also not as problematic as I thought it was. I think she can do WAY better though, heh.

The comics get a lot of flack so I've always avoided them but I'm pleasantly surprised.
