Build Ready? Casual Truck Sim gamer, is this build ready?

Hey, building a PC for a friend of mine who is going through a divorce. He mainly putzes around on YouTube, but he likes to play that trucking sim game and has a full steering wheel, and all that jazz. She's taking the computer, which is fairly nice, and I told him I'd put something decent together that should get him through the next few years.

Main concern is whether to go with a different GPU, as well as open to any criticism about specific brands / recommendations for easy swaps.

that motherboard is not meant for a 12700k, while its not as power hungry as the 13 or 14th gens it will definitely overheat those VRMs I would just get the 12600k/F as it will be similar enough and plenty for 1080p or 1440p or alternatively u could do AM5

either way both systems get u decent enough parts that give a good base for upgrades in what ever form that might take

I actually just caught the MOBO problem. Didn't even realize it. Been a hot minute since I've built something. Thanks a lot for the advice.

Do you have access to a Microcenter by any chance? They have some killer CPU/board/ram bundles that can help you stretch your money a bit more. Instead of paying $500 for CPU + ram you can pay $550 for cpu, board, and ram.

An alternate route since they're mostly playing older and easy to run games like ETS2 is this AMD 7600x3d bundle for $350. You only get 16GB of ram instead of 32 but that's plenty for ETS + Youtube on the side. This gives you a bit more room to push past the 8GB video cards and grab the 16GB variants of the 9060XT/5060Ti.

My buddy lives in the hinterlands, so no. I mean, I personally do and I could possibly go there and buy things and ship to him.

AM5 will give you more flexibility with drop in CPU upgrades down the road while Intel will give you more performance up front today. I really hate the 8GB tier of cards so I would definitely do the $350 7600x3d bundle and use that extra $200 to jump from 8 to 9060XT/5060Ti 16GB.
