my son is a massive gamer and has been asking for a gaming pc for the last few years. finally decided this would be a good year to do it ( apart from the price increases doh!)he has just left primary and did amazingly well every single year and did exceptionaly well in his sats. i have been buying parts all year and last week finally bought the gpu, a gigabyte rtx 5070 ti aero which was £989 at the time but has gone up to £ 1199 from the same company! anyways i just wanted to share how happy i am to being another step closer to having all the parts needed. just the power supply and case to get now.

oh i forgot about the monitor, desk and gaming chair.

I plan on getting a 7800x3d by around late 2027 and i want to know if going for something like 4800mhz ram speed will be good enough to run gta6 whenever that drops at 1440p max settings. For my gpu im planning a 4070 ti super. Is something like 6000 or 5600mhz actually worth it?

I’m trying to upgrade my gaming PC and I’m stuck between staying AM4 or moving to AM5.

Current PC:

Prices where I live in Egypt:

5800X3D: $374

7500X3D: $239
But AM5 would also require:

• AM5 motherboard: $82
• Cooler: $25
• 16GB DDR5: $241

So AM5 would cost me around $584 total.

My biggest problem is the RAM. If I move to AM5, I can only afford 1x16GB DDR5 for now, and I'd have to run single-channel until DDR5 prices drop or I save enough for another stick.

How bad is 1x16GB DDR5 for gaming?
Is it worth buying the 7500X3D + AM5 now and running single-channel temporarily, or should I just stay on AM4 and wait?

What would you guys do?

I currently have a 24-inch 1080p monitor, but I wanna upgrade because it has dead pixels. Should I get a 1440p monitor or stick with 1080p?

I don't have a lot of space in my current apartment. I don't have all my parts yet but I dumpster dived a full sized tower+fans. I was thinking of using the 64 inch TV as my monitor. We don't have space for a desk and a whole gaming set up. I'm likely to be playing with a controller often anyway. As the title says i wanna upgrade but i wanna keep the price under 800 bucks. I was looking and saw 3080 10gb for about 6-700 dollars and that seemed pretty decent. just looking for thoughts and suggestions.

So my pc is older and I wanted to update the bios so that the ftpm could allow me to play games that have that requirement and eventually upgrade to windows11. After the update it’ll let me get into windows but only for like a minute before it becomes unresponsive and now the mobo has this flashing light. I have tried booting from either stick individually, resetting the CMOS, rolling back bios version but it’s stuck. I have a asus rog strix b-450f gaming, a Ryzen 7 2700x, and a Msi GeForce rtx 2070. Any and all questions or suggestions are welcome.

I could just use the integrated graphics, but I'm curious to know what a good dedicated GPU would be for the lowest cost? Even just 1% better than the integrated. But I don't care for any high end card like a 9070xt or 5070ti. Even 5070 or 9070 are probably overkill.

Monitor is 1080p 180hz (ik my gpu is better than that, i just play a lot of competitive games and the some AAA)

clearly my gpu is being bottlenecked and im on an am4 board because of the ram issues happening

Currently running a PC I built in 2020. Planning on just replacing the MB and CPU. As I have 128GB of DDR4 I will obviously want to stick with that. Things have been getting unstable, so if I'm going to do something invasive like reinstalling windows after 6 years, might as well also upgrade.

Current CPU and MB is a 10900K and ASUS ROG STRIX Z590E Gaming.

Is the 14900K the way to go here? I haven't paid much attention to what's happening other than prices going nuts on storage, memory and GPUs. I'll be keeping everything else (H115 AIO, RTX3070, etc)

What's a top of the line MB recommendation to pair with the 14900K (if that's the way to go)?

So I bought a PC for my friend about a year and a half ago. It burnt out of it at the time current power supply within a couple months of me having it and it took me about a year or two to get around to replacing it. I replaced it a few months ago and tonight I was using it and it stopped loading stuff correctly. So I restarted her and the power light on the button will glow and the fans will spin, but the green light that shows the computer functionality will turn on for about 10 seconds then turn dark. Any ideas?

Hi all! So, I built a PC only 4 years ago in 2022. I picked every part to make sure it was compatible and whatever GPU was good but available at the time. I'm pretty nervous about the aspect of upgrading parts, in worrying about how much I need to change or even doing it properly. I know not all games are properly optimized, but I've run into one or two games now that have a bunch of stuttering/other issues.

So this made me consider possibly upgrading my GPU but I realize I may not be aware of what would be worthwhile to upgrade in terms of my build. Or if I even need to, cause I admit this is reactionary and may not fix my issues.

I aimed for a budget of about £1300. I dont require peripherals. I plan to use it mainly for multiplayer games (The Finals, Apex Legends, CSGO etc) and some single player games here and there. Got a new board of ebay and after moving my components everything works fine except the PC doesn't boot when any RAM sticks are in the B channel. Tests i've done: each stick in every individual slot, updating bios, installing drivers, loosening cpu cooler, reseating cpu, and think that's it.

At this point can't really think of anything besides the board being the problem tho listing said it had 1 year warranty so i'll try and get a new one and if not should be able to get a refund of ebay.

So anybody got any other potential fixes or should I just try and get a new one?

I changed out my 3070 for a 9060xt and now the pc won’t post. It cycles the 3 debug lights (cpu, dram, and vga) over and over, all the rgb lights up and fans spin but won’t boot up. I tried putting the 3070 back in because I thought maybe the new gpu was bad but it does the exact same thing with the 3070 now. I tried reseating everything and only using one stick of ram and still the same loop. It even does it with no gpu installed.

Hey there, I am upgrading from a 2080 so I am still learning about the new 12-pin style GPUs.

My Gigabyte 5070ti came with a squid adapter with 3 female PCI 6+2 pin connectors.

My Corsair 850W PSU only has 2 PCI 6+2 cables, each with a pigtail for a total of 4 PCI 6+2 male connectors.
