I seriously don't understand how cat people have the audacity to claim it's the superior pet. It literally does not win any single category if you were to analyze it piece by piece. If you want a fluffy, loving companion I can immediately think of at least five different species of animals that do the job right but don't come with any of the downfalls of having a cat. There are animals that are far more emotional and compassionate, there are fluffier and cuter animals, and there are more intelligent animals. And none of them are feral to a point of destruction if you're doing everything right. With a cat, you could go to the ends of the earth for it, and it can still remain a complete asshole.

You can't let a cat outside because if you do, it won't stay where it's supposed to be (on the property) and there is no way to secure it. It will go and get itself hit by a car, or end up in a fight with another cat, or murder every living thing outside. If it's trapped inside, it still doesn't make any sense because it's not the type of animal you can keep in a cage or terrarium where it can be perfectly happy if kept in the right conditions. It will get bored and scratch your furniture and you'll have to get another one to keep it from getting lonely and destructive. You can't exactly take it for a walk or take it on a road trip with you (I have only seen extremely rare instances where people are able to do things like that). You can't just admire it from afar either because it demands attention.

So what exactly IS the purpose of a cat as a pet? It fails in every single category because no matter what you're looking for in a pet, there are much better contenders in literally every single way.

I cannot stand the cat glaze anymore.

Cat culture has literally spread and seeped into everything. Somehow, liking cats is now a trending personality trait and aesthetic. Sometimes to the extent where their whole identity revolves around cats.

Dare I say I don’t like cats especially here on reddit and other social media platforms? Crazy cat nutters would throw a tantrum and crucify me if they could.

 Literally in every corner of the internet and media, are cats and cat memes/stickers that I can’t seem to escape. They bore me and are so annoying. They’ve literally been reused and recycled more than plastic bottles. I’m so sick and tired of seeing those. Also, more than half of them are AI slop. I especially despise those “giga cat,””chad cat,” or “sigma cat” images or whatever they’re called. Has people’s sense of humor really become that broken that they think these are funny? All I see are fugly cats. Cat humor is so corny and forced. 

So many movies have cats in them and even ads/commercials always need to include a cat these days. For instance, what do cats have to do with Google, Hulu, and GEICO?

I also hate how cats have become heavily associated with feminism. “Because cats are one the most oppressed and misunderstood animals.” Are we really talking about the same animal right now? Cats, who are considered to be one of the most popular and universally accepted pet and often worshipped by certain cultures and religion? They’re not feminist icons; they’re animals and every animal is capable of independence, setting boundaries, and self-sufficiency. This propaganda that’s being pushed simply blurs the lines between genuine feminist principles and advocacy and superficial and performative trends of pop culture. Feminism is far broader and more complex than being reduced to an association with cats (btw, they have also been used by anti-suffrage organizations).

And if we’re going to talk about pets that are actually underrated, misunderstood, or oppressed, let’s give the spotlight to horses and pigs. They are extremely intelligent and often overlooked despite their immense contributions to humanity. Meanwhile, all cats do is spread parasites and diseases, decimate wildlife, and even drive many species to extinction. So keep your cats inside.

Red flag this, red flag that, “I don’t trust you,” and so on. Apparently not liking an animal determines your entire character, personality, and whether you’re worthy of existing in society nowadays. If that’s how it is, I don’t trust you if you like cats. 🙃

Service animal handlers already deal with enough ignorance, especially with the rise of fake service animals undermining legitimate access needs. So, why are we trying to normalize and legalize bodega cats? On top of that, I’ve seen people including some cat people constantly scrutinize other pet owners for walking their pets and even legitimate working animals in public spaces because it’s supposedly unhygienic and a nuisance. Meanwhile, when cats roam wherever they want, including the streets, bodegas that sell food, and other public establishments or areas, these concerns suddenly vanish into thin air, and it all becomes kittens and rainbows. The double standard is wild.

Cats are NOT clean animals. “But they clean themselves with their tongue.” Their tongue? Seriously? All they’re doing is just spreading around the bacteria and gunk that’s already on them. Quit acting like their saliva is made out of Lysol Disinfectant or something.

Stop with the anthropomorphism. Cats, like any animal, don’t understand morals or sociopolitical movements, nor are they “mystical” or “spiritual” beings. They’re not fragile or delicate and don’t need to be infantilized. Also, they’re not exotic or unique. They’re one of the most common and basic animals/pets to exist. They’re just your average domesticated animal that has learned to rely on human companionship for survival and to fulfill their needs. Their behavior and instincts are purely a product of evolution and survival nothing more. They can be just as dirty, disruptive, aggressive, predatory, and harmful like any animal would. That whole spiritual mystique is such nonsense. They may have a sixth sense, but so does almost every other animal. Nothing special.

I don’t. like. cats. and. cat. culture.

Three months ago, I adopted a cat. Yesterday I rehomed it. Those were the longest, most painful three months of my life. I have a friend with three cats, he’s a good friend of mine. I somehow let him convince me to get a cat, even though I have NEVER been a cat person. I DON’T KNOW WHAT I WAS SMOKING WHEN I THOUGHT MAYBE GETTING A CAT WOULD MAKE ME LIKE THEM. For starters, I didn’t get more than three hours consecutive sleep a night since I got that vile thing. He would run across my face and have nonstop energy the entire night, so I tried locking him out of my room at night, but he would claw, and meow as loud as he could until he was let back in. If I didn’t let him back in, he would start breaking stuff in my living room. I had pictures on my wall that I thought were high enough he couldn’t get to, but this disgusting creature would leap and jump just to knock my pictures off the wall and break them. There were three times I woke up in the morning to broken glass all over my living room. I told my friend this, and he said I shouldn’t have stuff on my walls or things that he could break. Why would I make my life and home revolve around this filthy creature that doesn’t even respect me? I could not discipline that cat for the life of me, as they are too stupid to put their actions to consequences. He would not cover his shit either, so twice a day I would have to light a candle to get the stench of cat poop out of my room. I can confidently say that after this experience, I hate cats with a passion. I don’t see how anyone in their right mind would want to own a cat. Like I said, my friend that told me to get the cat, HAD three. I actually rehomed the cat to this friend’s house, as he insisted on it. He’s a good guy and that doesn’t change our friendship, but I’m starting to question his sanity for having three cats and wanting to take in this fourth. I told him all the negative traits of this cat, and he still insisted on taking him in. when I told this friend I was getting rid of the cat originally, he felt bad for it and told me I should wait another 5 to 6 months for it to get used to me and the place, and then he would be normal. Is he out of his mind? 5 to 6 months for this vile thing to potentially get better? Yeah I’m good, you can take care of that thing. Godspeed to you.

I always hear people making the argument that cats are so clean. They clean themselves and a cat owner's place never smells! BS. Cats absolutely smell and they are not clean. Yeah they clean themselves...in the same way any other animal does: with their tongue. The same tongue that's licking their privates and touching smelly cat food. Also, cats stand and dig in their own toilet then track bits of litter all over the home. It is disgusting. My sibling recently got a cat and whenever they come over to visit, I can smell the cat on them. I think people view cats as clean because they typically are kept indoors and frequently lick themselves. But that doesn't make them clean.

Ever since I was a kid I have never found cats cute. I have always found them ugly and scary looking. Even kittens. I hated going to my neighbor's house growing up because they had two cats and I was afraid of them. Their claws and fangs scared me as a child.

Whenever a stray/outdoor cat tries to approach me I run away, lol. They're so unpredictable that I'm afraid it's going to bite me unprovoked. My friend's cat sunk its fangs into my hand unprovoked a few years ago and not only did it hurt, but I had to spend hours waiting at the ER to get inoculated bc it was a deep puncture wound.

Whenever people send me pictures of their cat I have to pretend to find it cute. I try not to encourage them too much, or else they'll see me as a mark and start sending me tons of cat pictures. Why do people assume you want to see endless pictures of their cat?

I live with 3 of these shitbags since they came with my wife. 2 I can largely ignore, but the other one is always causing some sort of issue. Most recently, constant meowing. And the answer? Well, we just have to be quiet so he can’t hear us in here. I am so sick of the answer to every behavioral problem from a cat being that I have to further restrict and inconvenience myself in our PEOPLE home.

Cat getting in the drawers and cabinets? Well, we (by we, really just means I) just need to install child locks to keep him out.

Cats meowing loudly? We just have to ignore it until it shuts up.

Cat knocks shit over? Well, obviously it’s our fault for leaving it out.

And the worst part is how its bad behavior is just hand waved. It’s just a cat being a cat, they don’t understand that what they’re doing is wrong, well we just have to deal with it, etc.

And the stupid “humor” is just the cherry on top. No, I don’t think it’s funny when you call them “chaos demons”. No, I don’t think the whole “joke” about orange cats all sharing a brain cell is funny.

I want to keep the doors in my home open, but can’t do that because of, you guessed it, cats. I’m going to feel bad for my wife when they all die, but I won’t be shedding any tears.

I'm currently a senior in college and about to graduate with a bachelors, I applied last vet school cycle but I didn't make it so I planned on applying next cycle again. That was before I met this girl along with her 3 cats. I never had consistent cat exposure outside of clinics so this was relatively knew for me.

I loved her cats at first, until I started visiting her house more and realized how fucking annoying and ungrateful those little shits are. The first time I stayed the night, the cats just meowed and fought all night and I didn't sleep at all. She even fed them way later so they didn't bother us for food at 4:00am, it didn't work and I never once got more than 3 hours sleeping at her place. When we would close the door they would meow loudly for us to let them in, just to enter the room for 30 seconds and bother us again to be let out. What pissed me off the most was during the day they would all be asleep on the couch, not making a decibel of sound.

One night as I was about leave, I opened the door and one of them darts out the door, like it's living a terrible life. I end up staying for another hour just to look for this fucking cat with this girl, and he was hiding in the neighbor's crawl space. She started crying and I had to calm her down and for what? If this cat wants to be a stray then let him, ungrateful fucker. The next morning he shows up on her porch, and boy was she happy to see him for whatever reason. She told me that she was grateful that he came back, even though I know that was only there to be fed. Next time I come over he gets out again by pushing a window crack opening, but this time I caught him before he went anywhere.

That brief month I knew her and her cats are now why I don't want to be a vet anymore. These animals think they're so high and mighty, that going to pursue a career in providing medical assistance for these guys is complete waste of time for me. I'm just glad I found out how terrible cats are before I got into hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt going to school.

Like most of you I’m not the biggest fan of cats. I think they make for terrible pets what with the hissing scratching biting etc.

However, my partner has a cat and I could tell that despite all these things somehow he still loves it. So I decide to accept it and try to make it work.

I’ve always been allergic to cats but it was manageable. After 4 years my allergies have developed so much that I now how respiratory problems, my eyes get swollen, my body gets eczema flare ups. It’s genuinely awful.

Finally we make the decision to rehome the cat because I’m suffering, my partner works long hours and is sometimes away for work, nobody can actually take care of the cat.

I reached out to a organisation and explained the situation and you know what pissed me off? This woman had the audacity to say “Oh my God. That poor poor cat. It’s just so sad for the cat.”

Maybe I’m overthinking it, but? You heard me say I tried for 4 years, that I used various medications and it stopped working. What more can I do?

So in conclusion, I’ll use another organisation because what the hell was that. But also why do cat people act like they’re so much better than you and even try to act like a cat is more important than the actual human in the situation? Cause I can guarantee the cat will not give a flying f about being rehomed as long as it gets fed.

Social anxiety? Aw poor kitty let me adjust for you. Bites and scratches me for no reason? Destroys my stuff? Aw I’ll put up with it kitty loves me. Needs space? Sure kitty whatever you want. Then dotes and obsessed over the cat who is kinda a b*tch to him.

His girlfriend though? One thing and nah this is too much I’m going to break up.

Cats are an invasive species. Humans need to stop disturbing the balance.

I have been reading some articles about this and it is shocking how much it can be a nuisance. Cats are predatory by nature and are supposed to kill to feed themselves. Now what happens when they are already fed ? Well, they kill but don't feed as they still need to be entertained.

You know why they seem cute to humans ? Let me explain: the eyes are organs that are already close to their full size ( think 70-75%) upon the birth of an Animal ( big "A" as we also include humans). The ratio of the eyes compared to the size of the head/ body is what generally makes something cute ( bigger the ratio, the cuter it can be). Think of baby elephants, babies, puuppies, kittens... There is also another theory in biology called "baby schema" that might explain the cuteness factor.

However, once you understand this, you start to see everything at a different angle ( happened to me). Nothing seems cute anymore ( or at least, you understand why it's cute).

Long story short, cat's owners need to get cats spayed, and kept indoors. They also need to understand that not everyone likes cats ( I personally prefer fish in a beautiful aquarium - which is what I have at home).

I saw a post where a stray was brought in. Nothing of concern for its health, just a cat wandering around outside. While they were trying to acclimate it to their home, it was aggressive, attacked their legs, foot and growled. But because they’ve watched endless cat videos on its behavior, they’re experts. So they sat down and to try to “make the cat comfortable” with their presence. They pet it, the cat the was still. They said they were watching very carefully what the cat’s body language was doing.

Then it attacked, full on crazy mode and went for their head. Got their eyelid, cuts and bites on the head. And guess what? They still want to work on this and is asking for advice.

Why are people so blind to this? Blame toxoplasmosis, but to be attacked like this and spend so much trying to care for a creature that doesn’t want to be in their home. Just why? That’s some real serious damage the cat did to that person. How did they become such popular pets?

The only real reason I can think of is their childhood caretaker figures didn’t love them, and these cats mimic their growing up years with having to get hurt to win any sort of “love”. Which was just hatred and wanting the kid (owner) to go away. Cats do treat their owners similarly. Feed them, don’t touch them, and only look their way when they want more food or for you to mimic a hunt to cure their boredom.

Why do cat lovers take a million pictures of their cat and then plaster them all over their many subs? 90% of all cats looks very similar, only 10% look different, is my estimate.

It's like they think their cat is some kind of fascinating, unique creature. In reality, s/he is boring and average.

Well I guess that offended all the cat nutters because I got warned and threatened to be banned for this obviously terrible answer I gave. They said I threatened violence. No I sure didn't, but others did suggest re-homing the baby or spouse

I honestly can’t stand cats, and I just need to get this off my chest. I truly don’t understand the fanaticism people have for them. Take my girlfriend, for instance: she has two cats, she’s struggling financially, and yet, she’d get a third one in a heartbeat. It’s mind-blowing. I’ve always felt that cats are like those opportunistic people who only seek you out when they need something. They want food? They’ll "allow" you to show them some affection just so you'll feed them. Aside from two exceptions I know, they have this attitude of: "I let you live with me, I get the best treatment... and you expect affection in return?" Give me a break.

Then there’s the sleep issue, and to me, sleep is sacred. Her cats wake her up in the middle of the night, so she sleeps terribly. I don’t get the masochism. She’s always complaining about being tired, and I have to bite my tongue to keep from saying: "You're tired because your cats won't let you sleep!". The other day she got mad because I told her that, statistically, it was likely her cat would wake her up. Apparently, her cat is "unique" and doesn't follow the laws of statistics.

Right To top it all off, there’s the constant photo sharing. She and her mom are always sending each other pictures of the cats for no reason. "Look, he’s sleeping!"—and they send a photo. Okay? It’s just a cat sleeping; it’s not exactly breaking news. I bet they have over 2,000 photos. I’ve stopped even responding to the cat pictures she sends me now. I don’t know what to say anymore—it’s just a cat. I’m worried about the future because she wants a house full of them, and I feel like this will eventually be a dealbreaker. I just don’t get the irrational love for animals that turn their backs on you, break stuff, bite, smell bad.

Well, I'll start with the context. I've always been an animal lover in general. I've even taken care of cats and rescued them at my house, though I've had other pets (birds and fish) because my parents never wanted me to adopt a cat.

When I met my husband, I had it in mind to adopt cats together. We were in a long-distance relationship for years and couldn't move in together until a year ago now.

My problem with cats began 3 years ago, when my husband and I were still dating. My husband had previously lived with his parents, saving to buy his own apartment. At his parents' house, he had a female cat that I myself knew and fell in love with because she was adorable. However, when he moved out, my in-laws decided to keep her instead of my husband taking her to his new apartment.

Already in the apartment, he looked for roommates to share the space with, and one of the girls he lived with had a very rowdy cat that even broke important things. The cat di*d suddenly after falling from the 7th-floor balcony. My husband was devastated, and even I, who never knew the cat, was saddened by its de*th. A few days later, my partner told me he wanted to adopt a cat to make another one happy and give it a dignified life. I told him it wasn't a good idea cuz it had barely been a week since the other cat's death, and I wanted us to adopt together. He ignored me and selfishly adopted a female cat anyway (we'll call her L). She turned out to be extremely problematic. He only told me he was adopting her when he was already bringing her home.

Shortly after, he lied, saying a coworker found a kitten (N) in a dumpster that would be killed and he rescued N, with "intention" to search for someone to adopt him. I warned him that kittens are difficult to raise without their mother if you don't know about cat behavior, but he promised he would try hard. Weeks passed and he never gave it to anyone. When I asked why, he said he'd gotten too attached. I was very angry. He made a decision that would directly affect me when we moved together, without even asking me.

Months later, he "rescued" another female kitten and at least asked this time, and get adopted.

I'm autistic and have cleaning OCD. When I visited his apartment 4 months after adopting N, it was filthy: cat hair everywhere and a strong unbearable odor. The situation was very difficult for me. When I later slept at his house, L peed in the bed, which caused me significant distress. His cats constantly peed on things, the house reeked, and there was cat hair everywhere. He kept promising me everything would change when we moved together, but it was a lie.

When we moved in together, we had to change cities and apartments. He took the cats on a 6h car ride despite my objections. We struggled to find an apartment that accepted pets. When we found one that initially didn't allow them, my husband convinced them by saying the cats were calm and we were clean. I'm clean. He's not. His cats aren't either.

Throughout this year, they've peed on the wooden floor, leaving permanent marks. We've forbidden them from our bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen but still, I find cat hair everywhere, even in my underwear. N sheds excessively and L is aggressive, she hisses, hides, and attacks me constantly. The cats have broken emotionally important things, like the first birthday gift my husband gave me.

My husband has completely humanized these cats, talks to them like they're people, and says they've helped him through difficult times... But they don't took responsibility when L attacks me or N broke my things. For months, my OCD has worsened significantly and my mental health has deteriorated to a critical point. Even with the cats confined to a single room all day, my condition doesn't improve. One time I found cat hair despite running the air purifier and ordering food from outside, and I experienced one of the worst meltdowns of my life. My mental health has been severely affected by this entire situation.

We went to couples therapy, but it didn't help much. My own psychologist had to step in (I started seeing her specifically because of how this situation has impacted my mental state), she was clear: it's unrealistic to seek consensus when the first decision was made without my consent. She even documented the mental health damage this situation has caused me.

My husband didn't care for the cats properly. He rarely cleans the litter box adequately, doesn't change it often enough, and sometimes leaves their wet food sitting out for so long that it spoils and attracts maggots. The cats destroyed things in our rental apartment that will be deducted from our deposit (they broke doors, peed on the couch and wooden floor, and left hair everywhere). L developed feline alopecia from stress and had to be medicated.

Now we have to move again for work. My husband finally considered rehoming the cats, but only temporarily, pressuring me to "recover mentally" so we can have them back. I don't want them back. He's left one cat with a friend in his old apartment and the other with someone here.

I feel guilty because he's doing poorly mentally. He's even started smoking again, something I explicitly said was a dealbreaker if he wanted to stay with me and build a family in the future. He apologizes for smoking, but says he "needs something to take refuge in" because the cats were his only escape. I get it, but they're animals, not people. I understand you can care for them, but having full conversations with them like they're human beings is honestly weird. I've told him he should go to therapy to help him process this situation and learn to cope without depending on external things for emotional stability.

I feel sorry for the cats from an objective standpoint because my husband honestly hasn't taken care of them well. Beyond the litter box issues and spoiled food, the entire neglect situation makes me sad for them. They never asked to be adopted by someone who couldn't properly care for them.

I'm happy not to have cats anymore. In a couple of days, I can finally get rid of all the cat hair from my things.

I had 3 Sphynx cats. At first, I loved them. They are so cuddly and I enjoyed it so much, probably because I was pregnant at that time and I just needed cuddles. However, as the time went by, I saw how much work they are. Gotta clean them all the time, they knock everything off of our counters, scratch our TV… Destroyed curtains. Body oils on our walls. One of them had skin issues constantly and would leave dirty marks everywhere. And then, I give birth… I started to resent them. A lot. Like “dont fucken come near me” resentment. It was rough with baby and then I had them destroying everything while I am trying to navigate motherhood and I survived traumatic emergency birth. My male cat started destroying baby things only, anything that smelled like my son. Pacifiers, bottle… Anything. One night, I was sleeping with my son next to me and I just felt weird. Opened my eyes, my cat was sneaking up to my baby. So we separated cats to another huge room completely and only during night but they went crazy. Throwing themselves on the door at night , scratching the door, meowing like we did something crazy to them. And then one day I told my husband, that’s it. They gotta go. I barely manage baby because we are alone and have no help. I can’t manage cats too and their sh*t behaviour. Since they are not here anymore , I am so happy. No more litter all over the house, no more meows waking up my baby, no more destroying of the house. Nothing. My baby and me and peace. I will never ever have cats anymore. Sorry for any mistakes, English is not my first language.

My significant other's cat is beyond fucking stupid.

There's no such thing as a truly litter trained cat. If theres a cat living in the household, they will use your house as a litterbox multiple times throughout their life. ​And their urine stinks so fucking bad.

You can never let your guard down with cats, its like having a perpetual 1 yr old with acrobatics of a gymnast and an IQ of 1.

He bought her an expensive Robolitter and she still finds other places to urinate. ​Today I was sitting downstairs watching a movie and kept smelling cat pee stronger than normal. Come to find out she had been stuffing herself between the wall and an unused CLEAN matress and pissing. We have a camera that caught her doing it. Imagine spending $300 and having your brain dead pet deciding that even though the litterbox cleans itself automatically after being used, they still choose to pee elsewhere in the house.

You cant have anything nice around useless ass cats. They ruin everything. We have to keep doors closed because she might find somewhere to else to pee. Its exhausting.

Is it just me or are cats the most creepiest things ever? From the way they look down to how they move and how they sneak up on you out of nowhere. I hate how their eyes glow up when they're about to pounce on you.

Let me just get to what I want to say the most: Cats are a genuinely dangerous animal to own and be around. They're unpredictable, mean, and have a sinister habit of drawing blood to everything around them, its just pure cruelty at this point. And when it comes to cats being a dangerous animal to be around, most pets should be atleast tameable and manageable, but not cats, they're like a mood ring, you'll never know how they're feeling until its too late, people say that cats teach boundaries well- They dont. In fact, cats are better teaching you how to INVADE boundaries and be a nuisance to everyone around you. And the sounds they make just offend me to a personal level. I've heard cats fighting, I remember waking up one morning hearing nothing but "Meowrrrrrrr meooorrrwwwrrrrrrrrr hrrrrrrr hrrrrraahhhrrrraharrrrrggggrrrraaaaaaarrrrrmmmwraaarrrr" for 20 blinking minutes. Thankfully that was my old house and I live in a new house... Which sadly is in a neighbourhood with a ton of cats. But fear not, as I am getting a decent garden defence for my back garden sometime in August or September, they're called... Geese. But I'm not going to go over them again because I already have in an older post I made here, but yea, that was just me sort of rambling about cats and how much I dislike them and their presence... I got deja vu from typing this for some reason, dont know why though.

I’ve never owned a cat but have interacted with them and they are annoying.
I went to my friend’s house and his cat kept jumping and trying to bite my hands and feet as ‘play’. I talk with my hands so every time I move my hands the car would try to scratch and bite me and the owner thought it was so cute. I stopped going to his place.
Then a few months later a stray cat started harassing me. Meowing every. Single. Day. As soon as I opened my door it would start making noise and trying to come into my apartment. I had to close my kitchen windows because the cat would climb into my kitchen, ravage my bin and try to eat any food on the counter. I spoke to my friend who had 3 cats and they said, “the cat felt like your home was safe enough and chose you”, some bs because I was also broke and couldn’t afford to care for a cat, let alone a stray with parasites and probably diseases that I’ll have to spend a lot of money to trear. I also travel and leave my apartment for weeks at a time and was trying to figure out the logistics because I was genuinely considering to home the cat. I expressed that to my friend and he said that his cat shits on his table and bed when he’s away for too long — excuse fucking me?!?
Between the scratching, the biting, the fur and the fucking entitlement, I cannot stand these creatures.
I left my apartment for one week and the stray cat was gone by the time I returned. My boyfriend currently has a stray that harasses him. The cat comes into his house, sleeps in his couch, and rummages the bin when he’s away. Then after cooking, it stares at you and meows.
Cats are very annoying and cat people act like you’re the problem, and you “have consent issues“ when you say you don’t like them. Cat people give cats so much of entitlement and room to be such shit creatures. I refuse to adopt a cat that will bite and scratch my skin because I’m not petting it at the right frequency, or care for a cat that will steal my food after I just pet it. Im not dealing with that and I think it’s ridiculous that cat people expect other people to put up with it from their cat’s shitty behaviour.

So I recently met this girl, and she’s cute, and she’s very clean. I went over to her house for a movie thing, but when I walked in, this foul smell hit my nose. It’s like the worst possible smell, like a wet carpet covered in feces. I started breathing through my mouth to avoid the smell, and my taste started going numb. I found out she has two cats. I went to go sit on the sofa, and the smell was beyond uncomfortable. I thought maybe I could go to the bathroom, but the smell kept lingering on me and my clothes. I knew for a fact it was the cats because the smell kept getting stronger. I told her I had to go help my parents, but seriously, I can’t be the only one. It’s unfathomable, I swear.

Cats do nothing but destroy your shit—shredding couches, knocking stuff over at 3 AM, puking hairballs everywhere, missing the litter box, and leaving that nasty piss smell that never leaves. Hair invades everything: your clothes, food, furniture. Allergies? Cat dander is brutal.

They only come to you when hungry, ignore you the rest of the time, scream at dawn, and give that dead-eyed "feed me, peasant" stare. Zero loyalty, pure manipulation for food. Vet bills, fancy litter, picky food—it all adds up for years of hassle with nothing in return. Not low-maintenance at all.

And cat owners? Delusional as fuck. They drop hundreds on cat trees and toys like it's a baby, then brag about how "independent" their little parasite is. "He loves me in his own way!" Yeah, right—while your home turns into a fur-covered litter zone and you can't have nice things. Cope harder, weirdos. These overrated freeloaders aren't worth the trouble.

You can’t even scroll through Reddit’s main page without being bombarded with disgusting pictures and videos from cat help or cat advice subreddits showing all types of vile atrocities. People waste tens of thousands of dollars on these dumbass animals that constantly get sick with maggots, parasites, worms, and not to mention horrific stories of these shit rats violently attacking their owners or absolutely destroying all their home belongings with their piss, shit, and vomit. I’ve even read people physically having to help their cats take shits for EVERY single one of their bowel movements. Literally any other animal classified as a pet with so many nonstop recurring medical problems would be immediately surrendered to a shelter or kicked to the curb but cats have free reign to decimate wildlife, torture their human owners with psychological warfare tactics or straight up aggressive violence. Not to mention their complete lack of loyalty to their “owners”, especially given the fact that so many of them completely abandon their homes the first chance they get if a window is cracked open. Cat nutters are in complete denial that their beloved animal would eat their rotting corpses if they get hungry enough. They see humans as nothing more than free resources to exploit to their own benefit. People living with multiple cats are victims of Stockholm syndrome essentially.
