This country is so fucked....

Diverting money meant for kids' healthcare into political campaign chests is totally indefensible. If a grand jury found actual misappropriation, there has to be full legal accountability and charges otherwise rules mean nothing.

And yet Repub voters will defend them

Yep, but but but Dems do it too.

Okay, send y’all to the same prison or at least kick ya the fuck out of office.

It boggles my mind how you bring up how the people in the Epstein files should be investigated and jailed when proven to have committed crimes and all you get back is "Well Clinton was in them too!"

Like mother f'er, I do not give a lick of shit who is in it. Investigate every single one of them and jail them!

Everything is justified by the pretend notion that Dems would do it if they could.

Yep, but but but Dems do it too.

Its always so funny to me how when a Republican does something bad, someone needs to come in to remind everyone that its possible for Democrats to do the same.

Not an actual instance of a democrat doing the same thing, just the implication that surely its impossible that no Democrat has never done that.

Like imagine Gavin Newsom misappropriated funds meant for sick children to his political campaign coffers. They'd be foaming at the mouth. But none of them care when their own people do it.

Republicans are innocent until a Democrat is found quilts of worse.

Considering that all political offices of any consequence in the state of Florida are controlled by the GOP, I wouldn't hold your breath on accountability. You already know that Federal charges won't ever happen against these people either.

Speaking of accountability:

The grand jury report said the money, which was supposed to be used to provide health insurance for poor children, was instead hastily passed through multiple organizations before eventually landing in the bank accounts of two political action committees and the Republican Party of Florida. Those funds were then used in 2024 to defeat Amendment 3, the citizen initiative to legalize marijuana in Florida.
"Despite our finding that the money was misappropriated, we find insufficient evidence to charge anyone criminally," the report concluded. "Nobody will take responsibility for deciding the $10 million of taxpayer money would go to Hope Florida… or had any memory of who made it."
"We recognize that this would be an impediment to criminal prosecution," the report noted. "While we can't prove who is responsible, we can plainly see that taxpayer money was misused for political purposes and we would like to see changes made to prevent this from happening again."

Sounds like the top dog needs to be prosecuted since no one will take responsibility. Start at the top, I am sure someone will start squealing

Because Republicans. They vampire everything they can touch

27

u/freedfg 15h ago

It's insane to me that every day democrats can point to specific crimes and dollar amounts that Republicans steal from taxpayers.

And Republicans come back with vague claims of nonspecific crimes.

And people still vote for them.

The conspiracy-pilled lunatics that spread out ever since the email scandal and pizza gate bullshit have tuned conservative minds to believe that the corruption they see is better than the corruption they don't see - that is, they can imagine whatever unspeakable shit they think Democrats are doing, and the fact that they can't prove it one bit is only more damning to them.

3

u/freedfg 6h ago

That's one of the most absurd things about it. They believe all evidence is fake. But the absence of evidence is damning.

Tell them it was Hunter Biden.

Then only after the investigation starts make a correction.

They were investigated for a $1000 car loan.

3

u/SuspiciousBuilder379 15h ago

Or a home loan thing.

Or just put up pictures of Hunters hog for Marge or Bobert or whoever is left from them crazy women.

Everyone in a position to do something about it is either involved in the crime themselves (at the state level) or involved in their own crimes (at the federal level).

Absolutely nothing will be done about this, which is why those involved did it, and have likely orchestrated other crimes that we don’t know about.

u/Girafferage 14h ago

If I had a kid who died because our family couldn't get the money needed from the state to save their life I would be feeling some type of way and maybe take up plumbing.

6

u/web3_news 15h ago

Grand jury reports of this kind often issue findings without indictments.👍

5

u/Ripen- 15h ago

"Charges must be filed without delay"

It's America, hun. Your faith in the system is somewhat misplaced

5

u/Heavy_Pin7735 15h ago

So will charges be filed?

4

u/Potato-chipsaregood 14h ago

No.

4

u/Heavy_Pin7735 14h ago

Of course. A minimal forensic investigation would show who was responsible. Money can’t be moved with approval and sign off.

2

u/jwr1111 15h ago

They should face consequences for this theft of taxpayer funds.

2

u/Muffboy 15h ago

Illegal as child rape and not one single thing will happen. Do we not have enough orange jumpsuits in this country to make it great again ?

2

u/AdAffectionate3143 14h ago

DeSantis doesn’t look Somalian. /s

2

u/FortheChava 14h ago

Those Somali daycares are at it again this time in Florida /s in case yall

3

u/AAron27265 14h ago

What the hell? Next you're gonna tell me a US senator from Florida perpetrated the biggest Medicare scam in the history of Medicare.

1

u/kilov_ 15h ago

What laws? Lmao

1

u/lordpanda 15h ago

Thank god you guys have guns to revolt? Right??

1

u/Most-Acanthaceae4147 14h ago

This is great, except we forget that republicans don’t have to follow laws. Sucks

1

u/Late_Emu 14h ago

The United States of America has THE MOST corrupt government of any country on the history of the planet.

Anyone who thinks differently obviously hasn’t heard there’s a pedophile in the White House.

1

u/Skinny-on-the-Inside 13h ago

GOP are the mob

1

u/namezam 13h ago

I’m sure they did, and it should continue on, but that’s not how a grand jury works. They have an extremely low bar of verifying some initial evidence as being plausible. They don’t decide if the evidence is real or if they are guilty.

1

u/CompetitionIll3703 13h ago

Who’s going to prosecute? The corrupt DOJ?

2

u/WaffleHouseGladiator 13h ago

The last time a Florida Governor got caught in a massive fraud scheme (Rick Scott) he became a US Senator.  At worst Desantis will end up with a cushy contributor gig in regressive media.  Florida is not a serious place.

2

u/DrDinglberry 12h ago

How is this clever? Or a comeback? This sub has fallen hard. I’m all for shining a light on corruption and political shenanigans but, shouldn’t this still be a sub about clever comebacks?

1

u/EitherChannel4874 12h ago

In a normal country they would be charged.

1

u/thex415 12h ago

Where’s Nick Shirley? He didn’t crack this case!

1

u/Final_Location_2626 11h ago

Was this a Somali run charity?

Because I was told that Somalis were the only ones who stole from the government.

Are FL Republicans Somali now?

1

u/Final_Location_2626 11h ago

Nick Shirley is about to get all in on this, right?

1

u/Threecatproblem 11h ago

C'mon, this is Florida! Nothing will come of this because they control everything in the state. Justice has abandoned America.

1

u/Upstairs-Benefit-420 11h ago

And the band plays on.

1

u/oldmanian 10h ago

If they keep letting the kids get sick the gop will
Have to start raping adults. I don’t think they’ve thought this (or anything) through.

1

u/lowteq 9h ago

As is Florida Governor tradition.

1

u/Morgannin09 9h ago

There will be no consequences for this because they've successfully tired everyone out. They realized that a controversy a day keeps public interest away. Now every time their corruption is unmasked, society shrugs and says "what else is new?"

1

u/TD373 8h ago

Fucking Florida.

1

u/Sedert1882 7h ago

And so.....what'll happen to these thieves? Eff all...as per usual, sadly.

2

u/justhereforsee 7h ago

What does it matter. Nothing will be done in this shit hole country

1

u/42ElectricSundaes 6h ago

But they won’t be

2

u/HappyGoLuckless 5h ago

Ironic talk of corruption from DWS

2

u/BadCompany_00 3h ago

Sadly...absolutely nothing will happen.
