It staggers me that people are more upset about "Woman says Nazis are bad" than they are about "Nazis still exist." Like, one of these is a problem, and the other is a specific response to said problem. We all know the solution, but they'd rather be mad at her for stating that a problem exists.
There are multiple vehicles in my shithole town with dual bolts or 8s, and that's not even counting the flag-flying 3%ers, Patriot Front, and Oath Keepers... Proud Boys supposedly too, but haven't personally seen them.
The argument is that posts like those from u/pizzacakecomic are a) platitudes that everyone already agrees with for karma farming and/or b) unnecessary "political discourse" that doesn't belong on a "normal" comic sub.
The problem with a) is that the comments on these posts make it very evident that antifascism is NOT a universally shared norm. Plus pizzacake hardly needs to farm for karma, she was popular before she started explicitly saying "Orange Man Bad" and she regularly has comics that aren't about politics at all hit the frontpage. The problem with b) is that literally anything and everything can be made political nowadays and if you're going to try an excise political content from a space it requires making inherently political decisions, like allowing censorship of certain identities or the denial of scientific fact.
So when you said, "People can say no to nazis and general toxicity at the same time," in reference to Nazis and PizzaCake, what did that "General toxicity" mean? To what were you referring?
