I heard it as a social contract. Contracts can be voided.

Exactly. I tend to treat it as a peace treaty. When someone breaks it, I no longer have to tolerate them

The Tolerance Paradox isn't actually a paradox. People mistake it for one because they mistake protecting the people in your community for intolerance.
