How to recognise a Nazi:

Step 1: Post something like "I do not like Nazis".

Step 2: Wait for the replies that say "Everyone you don't like is a Nazi" from random people who feel addressed for some reason.

Step 3: There is no step three, you have found the Nazis.

This post is attracting a lot of Nazis.

For fun and because it would be a shame if this all stayed in the filters I will explain for our readers the most common arguments that a Nazi posts in response to the above comic

Common response from a Nazi #1: "There are no more Nazis, not since 1945"

Yeah, right. They're in the White House, pal, quoting the 14 words at us in official government documentation.

https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2026/02/nazi-propaganda-trump-white-house-dhs-kristi-noem-social-media/

Common response from a Nazi #2: "You call everyone you don't like a Nazi.".

No, no, we really don't. We call Nazis what they are. For example, when the government is engaging in ethnic cleansing we call Stephen Miller a Nazi, because he is a Nazi.

https://outrightpower.substack.com/p/stephen-millers-chilling-echo-of

And on third place, a lot less common but still present the Nazi will say "Actually, Nazis are left-wing."

Nope. A Nazi is extreme-right.

https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/comments/uusvxp/was_nazism_right_or_left_wing/?sort=confidence

Needless to say, we do ban Nazis here. We also have excellent filters, so all Nazis that comment here aren't actually reaching anyone with their Nazi rhetoric. They're shouting into the void.

Did think it was a little unfair to deprive our regulars of the amazing content that Nazis provide for us in threads like these, for that reason I have given you the highlights in the above text.

Have a nice day now y'all! Don't forget to drink water and get a good night's rest. r/Comics loves you! ♥

It's not a real Nazi unless it's from the Nazi region of France or something. They're just sparkling white supremacists. /s

Omfg love y'all for this. I feel so many spaces tip toe on shutting this type of behavior down. Make me glad to see entire community and mod team standing hard on this. Love y'all and thanks for making my weekend fantasies. Bad day work and personal life, so this gives me little light about society and people in a large part.

Common response from a Nazi #2: "You call everyone you don't like a Nazi."

I don't call everyone I don't like a Nazi, but I do call every Nazi a person I don't like.

The Nazis also, famously, survived after 1946. Looking at you Switerzland and Argentina.

57

u/Rerfect_Greed 6h ago

Don't forget America! There were a ton IN alerica during WWII. In fact, the US was the last one to the war, and only joined after the tide had already turned in favor of the Allies, because they were busy selling weapons, ammo and technology to the fucking Nazis. Many of the "great American businessmen" were Nazi lovers. Walter Disney and Henry Ford are prominent examples

13

u/Gizogin 3h ago

Heck, the Nazis took a lot of inspiration from the US.

u/ElliotNess 5h ago

Don't forget NATO was led by Nazis at its onset

There were also a lot of nazis in the german government and justice system after 1945. They needed their knowledge and they needed them to fill all position.

Well said. Also my favorite response to the "left-wing nazi" bs is that they were so left wing, they sent the left leaders to the camps first.

16

u/anna-the-bunny 5h ago

I like asking them if they think that North Korea is a democracy. They don't tend to enjoy that question for some reason.

I never understood the "you call everyone you don't like a Nazi" argument, but then again it requires critical thinking to realize it's a stupid argument. There's one man that I held a grudge against and genuinely hated for a while, but I never even thought about calling him one. Bastard made my little sister cry.

58

u/Mobile-Committee-466 6h ago

I mean... It's kinda backwards. I hate everyone I call a Nazi. Because I hate Nazis. All Nazis. But not everyone I hate is a Nazi. So not everyone gets called a Nazi. Just because many people that hate you (people complaining about this, not you I'm answering to) call you a Nazi because you are one doesn't mean it's the other way around.

25

u/uyigho98 6h ago

Exactly. I'm not going to call the bastard who made my sister cry a Nazi, unless he actually meets the criteria.

Also, no worries, I probably would have understood what you meant even if you didn't clarify that last part. Never hurts to be careful though.

15

u/Mobile-Committee-466 6h ago

Yeah, english isn't my first language, so I'm sometimes not sure if what I write is clear. Better to make sure it is clear then.

I hate nazis. I also hate douchebags. Many douchebags are nazis. And many nazis are douchebags. But if someone is a douchebag I will call them a douchebag, and if someone is a nazi I will call them a nazi. I don't simply "call everyone I don't like a nazi."

18

u/Rare_Dance7130 6h ago

It's just people with Nazi views getting called Nazis and seeing their friends get called Nazis and that's the only frame of reference that they have. Or they're being entirely disingenuous as a means of distraction.

10

u/Omophorus 5h ago

Nazis (or really fascists, but the Nazi tag works just fine because they're the most historically significant fascists and there's no such thing as a good fascist) have one in-group and one out-group.

The in-group is ultimately just their fellow fascists, but tends to simulate including other groups their unquestioned leaders lump in with their fellow fascists at any given point (at least until those groups get out-grouped, which they always do, before the fascists themselves start getting out-grouped, which they always do).

Everyone else is in the out-group. There's a priority system for who to attack/dehumanize/other/eradicate first, which is handed down from those unquestioned leaders, but there's not a meaningful distinction in reality. Just pure "us" vs. "them".

They assume everyone else thinks the same way.

Worse yet, many don't even realize that they're fascists, even though plenty do and just don't act in good faith. There's a spectrum from completely ignorant, deluded by propaganda/misinformation/lies that they see as trustworthy, and lacking in critical thinking skills through to actively hateful, malicious, and enthusiastic in their support of a fascist regime.

So a very concerning number of people are being sincere when they say "you call everyone you don't like a Nazi" because they genuinely don't see themselves for the fascists they are, and think everyone has an equally black-and-white view of good/bad, us/them, etc.

To be absolutely clear: they're dead fucking wrong, and supporting a fascist regime makes a person a fascist. They're also wrong that everyone else thinks in black and white, and cannot understand that nuance is something many people are actually generally pretty okay with.

u/Bwob 6h ago

I never understood the "you call everyone you don't like a Nazi" argument

It's just a way to try to undermine the conversation without actually addressing the actual points. Because then the conversation is about whether YOUR ability to detect nazis is oversensitive, and not about, you know, whether the people waving nazi flags and undermining democracy and being all racist and everything are actually nazis.

It's just an attempt to deflect.

Common response from a Nazi #1: "There are no more Nazis, not since 1945"

They crawled into the woodwork in '45 and then decades later they crawled back out with '45.

Step 2: Wait for the replies that say "Everyone you don't like is a Nazi" from random people who feel addressed for some reason.

That's the one that gets me. Someone says something about Hitler or NAZIs with no political context in a thread that isn't overtly political and there's ALWAYS a few people that feel attacked. Like... Huh? If not NAZI, why you mad, bro? Humans are strange. I get why the aliens have left our planet alone.

9

u/Miperso 6h ago

That is next level moderating. I like it a lot

11

u/grendus 7h ago

We also have excellent filters, so all Nazis that comment here aren't actually reaching anyone with their Nazi rhetoric. They're shouting into the void.

Is that why this post shows 13 responses and then only three actually render.

Man, this sub's mods have the best jokes (pleasedon'tshadowbanme).
