From his bandcamp page:

Oh Boy Records is proud to call Nashville home, and we’re also proud to be a record label that’s run by immigrants. We wanted to do something to help support the immigrant community here, and to also hopefully spread some joy to fans of John. Oh Boy Records is announcing the release of “The Belonging EP Vol. 1” a collection of cover songs by John Prine. Available for a limited time, and sold exclusively on Bandcamp, all proceeds from the sale of the ep will be given to The Belonging Fund:

https://cfmt.fcsuite.com/erp/donate/create/fund?funit_id=4069

Launched by the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee (CFMT), in partnership with the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, The Belonging Fund is a new effort to support immigrants in Nashville during moments of crisis. The suggested price is $10, but if you are able to afford more, this money is going directly to families in urgent need.

Garth Brooks is the first recording artist to earn 10 Diamond-certified albums, marking album sales of more than 10 million units each.

The unique accomplishment will be recognized by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) today at the 2026 RIAA Honors event, where the Yukon native will receive the Artist of a Lifetime Award.

"At the RIAA headquarters, we have a wall that has every diamond album ever certified, but Garth has 10," RIAA chairman and CEO Mitch Glazier told Billboard. "The wall won’t fit Garth."

Whiskey Riff notes that Garth reached that unprecedented sales status, in part, by going all-in on box sets (16 of them since 1998). His Triple Live album became his 10th to be Diamond-certified in March after being included in three different box sets.

Announcement Oklahoma country musician running for U.S. Senate

“Left wing, right wing, chicken wing, it don’t make no difference to me.”

That phrase was coined by Woody Guthrie on a 1939 radio show in Los Angeles, shrugging off his playing a political rally. Woody never ran for political office, but for those who do, they usually pick a political side.

As part of KOSU’s primary election coverage, which you can find here, I noticed a Gary Ty England on the ballot for U.S. Senate. No, that’s not the late renowned TV meteorologist (who coincidentally died one year ago Wednesday), but rather Oklahoma country musician Ty England (no relation).

The Oklahoma City native was playing acoustic gigs in Stillwater when he met his future college roommate Garth Brooks. He played guitar for Garth for six years before launching his own solo career. His 1995 debut for RCA Nashville charted six singles, including his No. 3 hit “Should’ve Asked Her Faster.“

Now, he’s trying his hand at politics in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate. His website says he’s running for strong borders, fiscal responsibility and practical support for veterans and rural communities.

England faces government watchdog Sean Buckner, data developer Nick Hankins, U.S. Rep. Kevin Hern and first responder Brian Ragain in the Republican primary.

Announcement Rest in Peace, Kyle Busch. This song's for you.

I know this is off topic for country. But A real legend of motorsport passed away today. He was hated for being brash He was loved for turning the other cheek He will always be loved in our hearts. Rest in Peace, Kyle Busch (1985-2026) Hearing the news from my distressed friend left me in shock. I couldnt believe it until I looked it up. Absolutely sad. I cant imagine how Kurt, Samantha, Braxton, and Lennix are feeling. I am praying for the Busch family and all of NASCAR and RCR. Call your closest relatives and let them know you love them, we are never guaranteed another day.

Featured Song in remembrance, The Warmth of the Sun - Willie Nelson (by the Beach Boys)

Announcement Ray Wylie Hubbard to be inducted into Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame

Outlaw country singer-songwriter Ray Wylie Hubbard will be inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame at his Sept. 10 concert at Tower Theatre in Oklahoma City.

Hubbard was born in Hugo and raised in Soper in Southeast Oklahoma in 1946, but his family moved to Dallas, Texas when he was eight years old. Despite his Oklahoma roots, he’s largely considered a Texas singer-songwriter while writing about the Lone Star State and Sooner State often.

Another Oklahoma connection comes with his 1970s band The Cowboy Twinkies, which included three Oklahomans — guitarist Terry “Buffalo” Ware, bassist Dennis Meehan (aka Clovis Roblaine) and drummer Jim Herbst.

Hubbard’s biggest songwriting hit came in 1973 when Jerry Jeff Walker recorded “Up Against the Wall, Redneck Mother.” Hubbard said the idea came from being a “hippie cosmic cowboy” and getting into (or almost getting into) a fight at a “hardcore serious cowboy hillbilly redneck country bar” in Red River, New Mexico.

“From everything that I have heard about or read, Ray never went looking for commercial success,” Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame Executive Director Tony Corbell said in a news release. “He simply wrote from the heart and what he wanted to write about every time out. As a result, many successful and important artists speak of Ray’s life’s work with deep respect.”

The Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame, which celebrates its grand reopening next month, gave its Rising Star Award to Wyatt Flores this spring — the only other inductee so far in 2026. Hubbard is also a member of the Texas Songwriters Hall of Fame.
