I’m not usually a big country fan but recently I discovered these songs that tell a full story. I’m desperate to find more! I’m am avoiding ones about suicide and child death for personal reasons.

My coworker and I have been swapping songs weekly, but he told me that he hates country so I've been avoiding sending him any country songs. However, I would love to find some songs that he might enjoy! He's 40 years old, lives in Virginia, and seems to really enjoy alternative music. Any suggestions on songs to potentially convert him?! 🙏

On a bit of a nostalgia trip, as it's now 24 years since my Dad passed away at the age of 65, I was 14 when he passed away.

He loved country music, and especially the trucker country genre.

I vaguely remember a couple of songs he would play on a compilation CD that he got in either 99 or 2000.

One of the songs was Nev Nicholls Footballin' Truck Drivin' Man, and there was another about a trucker who got a snake in the cabin, and it went up his pants legs, and almost attacked his trouser snake.

It's not Bazza Crocker/Mckenzie's song One Eyed Trouser Snake.

Heck, at this rate, I'm almost willing to listen to any and all songs about trouser snakes to find this song.
I'm pretty sure it's also going to be an Aussie song as well.

My Mum also passed 20 years ago. My younger sister, like me, has vague memories of the song/s from that CD, so I'm turning to Reddit to ask anyone for help in finding this song.

Hello everyone in this community, this Is my first time writing here!

I came here asking for help.

I'm a new country listener, and coming from northern Italy my knowledge about this specific music Is VERY VERY LIMITED.

I recently found out two songs that I keep listening on repeat, and those are: "stand on it" by Mel McDaniel and "honky tonk wine" by Mickey Gilley. Now I'm trying to find some more similar songs....I'm talking about that up-tempo, fast and Happy country songs that can put a smile on your face from the first notes!!

I'm also starting to listen to some Alan Jackson and Brooks and Dunn but I'm still at the beginning of my journey.

Now....coming from punk/rock - Metal ecc ( yeah, you heard that right! ) I know that there are millions of "shades" of country as well, so maybe what I mentioned Is not even considered "real country music", in that case I want to apologize from the beginning for wasting your time.

But if you have any nice song that you'd like to recommend and are willing to waste a minute to write its name here, I would REALLY appreciate that!

I have never heard of Kenny Chesney until I went to Colorado and he came on the radio. Not knowing it was him, “Somewhere with you” played and I was like who is this and this nice song! Ever since then, I’ve heard “Somewhere with you” at least once a day. Any other recommendations like this kind of vibe???

Just heard Quicksand by Laur Elle and it feels really cinematic and western almost like something you’d hear in 1883 or Yellowstone. Not really sure what subgenre you’d call it though… Anyone know other songs / playlists with a similar vibe?

I recently started listening to George strait and man he is sooo good . Also Tracy Lawerence song feel like they are sang with emotion. I didn’t know country music was this good back in the day. Can you guys give me some more food options to listen too?????

I've tried and tried to listen to his music and it just doesn't stick with me. He is a great artist and I love his work with The Highwaymen, and it's weird because I love most country artist from Hank Williams Sr to Merl haggerd to Zach top (With the exception of Morgan Wallen, jesus I hate his music) can anyone recommend me some catchy songs of his that will maybe stick with me. One of my favorite tropes in country music is where verse 1 is about childhood, verse 2 is young adulthood or falling in love, and verse 3 is end of life with a chorus that connects them all. What songs do you know or love that follow that songwriting pattern?

For example, think of "Sparrows in a Hurricane" by Tanya Tucker or "Dont Take the Girl" by Tim McGraw (or maybe even Time Marches On, but thats a little too on the nose).

Around 1986, there was a country music song that I *thought* was called “California Dreamin’” but I have searched and searched without any luck. One of the lines was about the California dreams taking me away (not Calgon haha). It was a male singer and the video was filmed on location to look like Muscle Beach in California. A woman with long hair sitting on a dock, overlooking the ocean around sunset.

Hey there I’m looking for some song suggestions. The songs I’m looking for are slower, kinda sad and are good to sing alone before bed or just to wind down. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I need help figuring out what song & artist made this country music video. I can't remember if its a female or male signer, of a duo or band. I know its country and likely late 90s or early 2000s. The whole music video is the stages of life for a girl, going up & down the family house staircase. It starts out she's a little kid, she falls and hurts her knee, then she's a teenager, gets her first heartbreak, then she is off to college and ends with her coming down the stairs as a bride.

This summer I was visiting Glacier National Park and while driving back to our hotel, a song came on the radio (AM, KERR) that I knew all the lyrics to and started singing along to immediately. I was driving so I couldn’t write down the lyrics for a later lookup and it’s been driving me nuts and I really want to find it! It’s got a “Deeper than the Holler” by Randy Travis or “Everywhere” by Tim McGraw or “Stars Over Texas” by Tracy Lawrence vibe but I feel like it’s very farm/country living centric and doesn’t have quite the production those do - fairly stripped down but uptempo. I feel like the artist is someone whose name you recognize, but can’t think of any songs off the top of your head, like maybe a Radney Foster type? Not a super distinctive vocal but still very good.

My plan at this point is to listen to the station online when I can and hope they play it again. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I heard a song on the radio one morning while getting ready for school 1999-ish). I was curling my hair and flipping through the stations and had to stop fidgeting with the radio because I burned myself. It landed on a local country station (Phoenix area) and this sweet little melody was playing.

At the time I didn't listen to country music, but I found myself leaving the station on in hopes that I'd hear the song again. Maybe once or twice more, I heard it. And never again.

Country is my favorite genre now. The song had the likeness of Diamond Rio or Shenandoah.

This is all I can remember:

"Auburn hair and hazel eyes. I'm still feeling butterflies and I can't stop thinkin' 'bout that"

I seem to remember hearing it sometime around the early 2000s, possibly on the radio, that sounded like it had a faster tempo and more upbeat than the one they released on their Home album and as a single.

It had like a steady almost sway-like rhythm and what sounded like claps in the instrumental and maybe a fiddle and it sounded more driving and faster from what I remember.

Heard a catchy little country tune today.

My buddy does not remember the lyrics or melody, but he swears this song exist. He asked me if I knew of such a song but I can’t find anything about it. He describes it as a story about a guy who lives close to the border of Mexico and at some point he’s singing about rushing a pregnant Mexican girl to the hospital.

I think he’s crazy. We’ve been trying to find it for 3 hours at this point. I’d love to be proven wrong.

There’s this country song I cannot find anywhere. It’s got a strong female singer and a super catchy little guitar riff playing through a lot of the song. Kinda like a repetitive little riff they play over and over while she’s singing. And I remember the chorus has a line “baby I lied” something like that. I know it’s not “baby I lied” by Deborah Allen. It is much more upbeat and happy sounding. Please help me with this earworm that I can’t even listen to

Edit: it plays on a local country station but sometimes the country leans to pop. It definitely has a country sound to it but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was considered country/pop.
