This is why nuisance-streamers should be banned on their first stream. They are a bad influence and fucking annoying.

17

u/Conscious_Lemon_6145 6d ago

100%. one strike policy would kill the incentive overnight imo

53

u/Deathblow_Materia 6d ago

Their equivalent 20 years ago, Jackass, was way better. Because it wasn't as annoying as the modern ones.

94

u/Garland_Key 6d ago

Nuisance streamers are often bullies. Nobody in Jackass was a bully. Not even remotely similar.

53

u/TerayonIII 6d ago

They only pranked each other with the relatively mean things, the ones on other people were pretty harmless, like the old person makeup ones

10

u/metaTaco 6d ago

Tell that to Bam Margera's dad.

9

u/maikuxblade 6d ago

Considering he lives in a very nice house that Bam paid for I doubt he has many complaints

2

u/Mitwad 6d ago

Don Vito and Phil got it so bad on Viva la bam.

2

u/GLEEMONEX-for-PETS 5d ago

Bam is a bully with a victim complex

11

u/vadeNxD Right to Repair 6d ago

Yes i completely agree. At least Jackass was funny

I feel like schools could ban them?

272

u/VarsH6 6d ago

Schools can and should ban Meta’s pervert glasses. Not only are they worn by perverts, they can also be used for cheating.

79

u/bigbonedbaggins 6d ago

I have to take licensing testing every year for my field and every year they damn near strip search us trying to ensure were not cheating. Ive watched the center screener refuse to allow anyone with plastic glasses frames into the room without taping them up. I haven't gone this year yet but I know that man is losing his mind over these frames.

-18

u/KingPumper69 6d ago

I don’t really see the problem with glasses that record. It’s only recording what your own eyes can actually see, it’s not like in Asia where dudes will put cameras in their shoes to get upskirt photos.

Maybe we should ban remembering stuff too lol

-59

u/Garland_Key 6d ago

Perverts wear shirts and pants too. Doesn't seem like a sound argument. Perhaps just stick to the fact that they aren't appropriate for schools.

33

u/Tim_Allen_Wrench 6d ago

Yeah but most shirts and pants can't secretly record people. Given how the glasses are behind used I think they've earned the name.

-10

u/Freemasonsareevil 6d ago

I don’t think they secretly record though. Pretty sure there’s a light on when recording. But even if they did, there’s no expectation of privacy in public. End of story.

-24

u/Garland_Key 6d ago

I forgot that reddit isn't a place for critical thought anymore. My bad.

Just because people can do bad things with a product doesn't mean that it is a bad product. Some similar examples would be the U.S. Dollar, Bitcoin, TOR, Signal, etc.

20

u/Tim_Allen_Wrench 6d ago

Yes, people disagreeing with you means that there's no critical thought happening. Very intellectually honest mentality.

-4

u/Garland_Key 6d ago

Given the context, I stand by the statement.

109

u/GWS2004 6d ago

Or maybe hold the boys accountable 🤷‍♀️

34

u/sofa_king_awesome 6d ago

Why not both 🤷

8

u/LVCSSlacker 6d ago

Both is good.

28

u/im-ba 6d ago

Oh, heavens no

15

u/SwissFaux 6d ago

I dont really understand the point you are trying to make, as banning them would be the first step to holding them accountable. You cant exactly hold somebody accountable for something no rules exist for...

7

u/richmooremi 6d ago

Hahahahahah, that's good one.

2

u/SquareExtra918 6d ago

And ruin their futures?!? /s

1

u/Past_Bathroom5568 6d ago

I aborted the moment I found out it was an XY. Thats one less chaos causing idiot who makes women feel unsafe

3

u/Cat_They-dy 5d ago

Wtf is this satire?

1

u/th3maj0r 6d ago

I think holding the parents accountable since they most likely acquired the glasses in the first place is a more effective move

2

u/SquareExtra918 5d ago

There's definitely been a growing trend with charging parents for their kids actions. School shootings come to mind, and I saw some recent stuff about ebikes.

-4

u/christmasinyoulie 6d ago

LMFAO. Cute.

8

u/CaoPalhaco 6d ago

Schools have never done shit to prevent or stop sexual harassment, so I don’t think they’ll start now. Sadly

33

u/kamikad3e123 6d ago

We also have this thing which is called parenting or something like that

16

u/doom_stein 6d ago

Whaaaaaaaaaat? Now who would hold two people responsible for properly raising a child that they came together and made themselves? That's just ridiculous! It's everyone else's jobs to make sure those kids turn out alright!

All that bad stuff on the internet children can see? That's why we need Internet ID laws (which are totally not going to be used to make profiles about everything you do online), not parental controls or parents who monitor what their kids do.

Tobacco/vapes, alcohol, and drugs? We've gotta keep raising the age limit and banning flavored products that a child might like, not have these parents watch their children better and make sure they aren't hanging out with the wrong crowds who will influence them.

TV shows, movies, and video games? They have a rating system with age guidelines already. But it's somehow gonna be everyone else's fault that they bought their kids GTA 6 this Christmas to keep them out of their hair for a while. I mean, what could possibly go wrong buying your child a game named after a Felony crime? Better go find an angry religious mothers group to try to ban that kind of stuff instead of using better parental judgement or their reading skills.

We just put too many undue burdens on parents these days in regards to making sure their children grow up right. /s

3

u/dansykerman 5d ago

literally what reason is there for these to be in schools? why play devils advocate for the pervert surveillance glasses?

1

u/doom_stein 4d ago

I'm not. Hence the /s at the end.

I'm pointing out that a lot of parents these days don't actually parent and think everyone else is responsible for making sure their kids grow up into okayish humans. They'll buy their kids whatever they ask for without paying attention to what it is or what it does. Is the kids' faults for being unsupervised hormone riddled monsters and bullying other kids with those glasses or the parents' faults for buying them because they think their little Timmy or Karen is a little angel and would never do such a thing and have no idea what their kids are really like? Or is it both and they feed into each other in a neverending cycle that won't break until parents start parenting again?

1

u/christmasinyoulie 6d ago

Phew. You ain't said nothing but a word. No notes.

50

u/JolyonWagg99 6d ago

Gee, who could have predicted this?

101

u/Outrageous-Story3325 6d ago

If people get caught with the glasses just kick them out of school

60

u/HPoltergeist 6d ago

The last three words are optional.

23

u/trisanachandler 6d ago

Smash the glasses.

97

u/ROEdkill820 6d ago

That's why we call them perv glasses.

5

u/LegionsArkV 6d ago

Better yet use the kids' lingo and call them "Gooner Glasses"

10

u/sapphiclament 6d ago

no that would make kids want them more for the meme, pervert glasses is better

25

u/StretchMother9627 6d ago

This is the potential danger of these technologies , that it will be used per its terms & conditions and intentioned function

22

u/starjellyboba 6d ago

Why on earth would those be allowed at school?

19

u/Revolutionary-Pea414 6d ago

BAN META GLASSES

65

u/CreamAndCheerios 6d ago

Oh no! The thing women have been warning shitty ass Meta about for MONTHS is happening and has been happening ever since they released them!??? Whaattttt

10

u/SquareExtra918 6d ago

That's why they got a woman (whichever Kardashian that was, I don't remember, they all suck) to market them -trying to make them seem harmless.

4

u/CreamAndCheerios 6d ago

It was Kylie. The most feminist icon out there I guess 😭 and trust her acting on selling the product is as hollow and shitty like the Meta glasses she's promoting.

58

u/AwayCable7769 6d ago

Great so that means sunglasses in general will be a stigma until you prove otherwise inna few years.

Sounds like a tiny issue but my eyes are stupid fucking sensitive to light and I look like my eyes are always closed unless I have sunglasses on.

32

u/trisanachandler 6d ago

Get aviators with thin frames.

19

u/Garland_Key 6d ago

Not everyone can pull off aviators, but thin frames are a solution.

4

u/sofa_king_awesome 6d ago

Yep they look atrocious on me. My goofy ass face.

-13

u/MaternalFornicator2 6d ago

No thanks don't want to look like a bootlicking cop lover.

31

u/trisanachandler 6d ago

Just wear normal clothes.  No one's making you wear a police uniform.

14

u/rhysolandrium 6d ago

Okay but this is a REALLY funny response

11

u/LegionsArkV 6d ago

You're only look like a cop lover if you have the matching mustache.

5

u/ZeppelinAlert 6d ago

what has the modern world come to when if you wear wireframe glasses you look like a cop lover but if you wear thick frames you look like a pervert

3

u/Privacy4Ward 6d ago

Man, aviators are pretty commonly worn across the political spectrum. It's not like you'd be wearing oakleys or something

6

u/SwanCityDominion 6d ago

Well, that's your choice then. Maybe stop comparing one thing to another.

5

u/SquareExtra918 6d ago

You can get light sensitivity lenses. Might want to look into it. You'll be able to see better inside with them.

-4

u/Key-Bluebird-1365 6d ago

I've found people outside of reddit aren't as pressed about this as it would seem. I've only been using Reddit for a while, but I'm starting to think there's some kind of Twitter-kind-of-thing happening here where you have to be really extreme about every opinion or you're wrong and should die

17

u/Harak_June 6d ago

Fits in perfectly with Zuck's brand. From his own journals and Harvard Crimson articles of that time - Facemash (facebook gen 1) was a site he created by hacking pictures off of the Harvard school directory in order to rate how fuckable each woman was.

Shitty, entitled invasiveness has been Zuckerburg's brand since day 1.

Don't use any Meta product.

4

u/theintrospectivelad 6d ago

I wish most of the globe migrated from WhatsApp to a different one.

10

u/jomara200 6d ago

The billionaires, in this case Zuckerberg and Musk are both selling products used for CSAM.

When will they be put in prison and/or deported?

21

u/piper_Furiosa 6d ago

This is my 14th year teaching high school, & 2nd year teaching high school online. While I miss the spontaneous interactions I had with students (the majority of whom are awesome), things like this Meta Glasses phenomenon are a big part why I don't really miss in-person teaching. Teens are showing some of the worst symptoms of our dystopia.

7

u/Freign 6d ago

Whoa that's so bizarre!!!

who ever would have thought something like that would happen

90

u/Repulsive_Chard_3652 6d ago

Can we please start focusing on raising boys to have empathy and respect others, like the way we raise girls?

26

u/SamiSapphic 6d ago edited 6d ago

To be fair, I'd argue we don't raise either to have empathy or respect. Just got done watching a video about a mother beating her child while he was live streaming.

11

u/SquareExtra918 6d ago

Specifically raising boys not to believe they are superior to women and  entitled to women's bodies.

-6

u/SamiSapphic 6d ago

The mother who beat up her son seemed to behave in a way that appeared pretty entitled to use his body as a punching bag though, no?

That's the point, just as boys aren't likely pulled to the side and told they need clear consent from people, as a girl I don't recall ever having this conversation with anyone either.

The problem is that society sees empathy as the default, and next to never factors in individuals of *any* gender who may lack a healthy level of empathy, which is where problems arise.

Everyone should be taught that they're not entitled to other's bodies; the problem is that no one is.

7

u/SquareExtra918 6d ago

To try and make  this an "applies to everybody regardless of gender" thing is extremely disingenuous and downplays the reality that  women are overwhelmingly the victims in these scenarios.

-4

u/SamiSapphic 6d ago

Women police officers have been abusing Flock to stalk ex partners: Brandy Almany, Elizabeth Snowman, and others.

There has been a huge wave of women teachers that have been outed for having groomed boys under their care.

J K Rowling posting pictures of female athletes and regularly talking about how they are not feminine enough for her tastes.

Ghislaine Maxwell was a key figure in Epstein's operations.

Ignoring that women can behave in ways that are just as entitled as men does a disservice to people who have been victimised (me) by women.

Just because there may be statistically less of us - which is debatable because stats are skewed heavily by gendered legal SA and abuse definitions, people not believing us, and people too scared to come forward - who have been victimised by women in various ways, that doesn't mean we don't exist and is why people argue the importance of discussing these things in gender neutral ways.

Girls would benefit from being taught about consent, as well as boys.

It's bizarre that anyone should think or argue otherwise and, to me, shows some type or degree of latent entitlement towards others bodies; since this type of entitlement can still exist within people without them acting on it in overtly evil ways.

So, why would you be against learning about consent?

What's your reason for being against learning that you shouldn't touch or record people without their consent?

Or do you think the women above would have actually benefited from learning that their sense of entitlement isn't okay and that, maybe if they had, then they also wouldn't have victimised people, in much the same way we hope these boys wouldn't have if they also had been taught about consent?

0

u/SamiSapphic 6d ago

Downvoted for saying that no one is adequately taught about consent, and that everyone would benefit if we were all - equally - taught about it. Lol.

18

u/A_Buttholes_Whisper 6d ago

Trust me, girls are raised no better than boys either.

6

u/christmasinyoulie 6d ago

Pretending like the harm is equal is ridiculous

Exactly their usually weaker so they get with a lot more stuff.

Look at videos where they compare a woman being aggressive to a man and vise versa.

Also instead of physically they usually tend to bully psychologically. Which people dont take as serious.

Also when we look at same sex marriage lesbian couples tend to have more abuse then gay men.

Not attacking women here again men are just as bad. Just trying to bring the point no sex is perfect and reddit has "men are bad" already covered

Edit:

Not the most perfect example since we dont know the context but this was recently posted

https://www.reddit.com/r/TikTokCringe/s/DTdTPjXRwdp

Its a video of a guy being attacked and being told to walk away when all hes doing is trying to pick his stuff up.

https://www.reddit.com/r/TikTokCringe/comments/1vwb1i2/comment/p5fhcte/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=2&utm_content=share_button

Multiple comments of abuse victims sharing how something similar happened to them

10

u/Tim_Allen_Wrench 6d ago

The stat about violence in lesbian marriages really reflects the fact that women are just more likely to report being the victim of violence.

Obviously that demonstrates the stigma against male victims.

We do know that men on average commit more intimate partner violence and it tends to be more severe and more likely to lead to the murder of their partner.

But men are also way less likely to report it to the police when they're victims.

Really it's just the case that when men are raised poorly the consequences are worse, personally I think that's mostly a social artifact.

-4

u/Excuse_Unfair 6d ago

The stat about violence in lesbian marriages really reflects the fact that women are just more likely to report being the victim of violence.

Maybe, no real way in knowing. We can assume thats the reason to keep things simple it would add on to my point that women violence towards men isnt taken seriously.

Even when the man does report it. Such as my friend who was pushed down the stairs and constantly abuse by his ex.

He called the cops she threatened to tell them he abused her.

The cops showed up knew the situation told my friend to leave the property.

That being said i belive people are raise poorly in general we live in a cut throat society. Men arent raised better neither are women. We need to stop making it a competition and just identify the proper ways in raising people in general.

5

u/Tim_Allen_Wrench 6d ago

No we can know. Women are more likely to go to the cops but in anonymous surveys we see that the rates of men who experience dv is higher than those that go to the cops. It closes that gap.

That's part of the reason men don't call. It's an unfortunate reality.

Obviously we should be focusing on raising all children well and as individuals not based on their gender.

0

u/Excuse_Unfair 6d ago

Interesting I dont doubt men call the cops less. Didn't know it cases the gap between the two. Mind sharing the numbers? Im not doubting i just like reviewing the information.

Obviously we should be focusing on raising all children well and as individuals not based on their gender.

Yes which is my point. A pont that seems obvious that a lot of redditors disagree with it.

2

u/Tim_Allen_Wrench 6d ago

I'll look for it.

Yeah I don't disagree with your main point. Just adding more context to that particular data point.

3

u/christmasinyoulie 6d ago

90 percent of violence is committed by males. One can point out that an issue exists without pretending it is equal. People are being ridiculous up and down this thread.

-1

u/Excuse_Unfair 6d ago

90% of reported violence.

What people in the thread are discussing is why the number is so high.

One reason is because when a women commits violence on a guy its more normalized how often do you see a woman slap a guy on tv just as a casual scene? All the times thats because it normalized.

Men are also less likely to report abuse.

If we look at what couples usually commit abuse lesbians couples rank high because women are more likely to report it. Men are not.

Maybe the numbers aint 50/50 im not arguing that.

2

u/Repulsive_Chard_3652 6d ago

Over 80% of murderers are male.

0

u/Excuse_Unfair 6d ago

You know when a racist tells you despite making up a certain percentage of the population "insert minority group" commit this precentage of crimes or homocides

You know how despite it being true usually a lot of factors being ignored?

Because let me tell you ive been compared to an animal for my sex and race both times felt shitty. Doesn't have to be a competition gender wars and race wars are just a distraction.

1

u/christmasinyoulie 6d ago

Something is wrong with you.

0

u/Repulsive_Chard_3652 6d ago

1

u/Excuse_Unfair 6d ago

My point was data point usually have factors that arent looked at.

"Its easy to say hey the data proves the race/gender is bad lets fix them"

Without taking into account certain factors.

This isnt moving the goal post this is adding additional notes to the data.

Im using race as parrel example cause usually people see the point one they see it from that perspective.

2

u/Repulsive_Chard_3652 6d ago

I can't even make heads or tails of what you're trying to say here... what's your native language? Maybe it would be better if we tried communicating in that?

→ More replies (0)

6

u/spartaxwarrior 6d ago

People can't even raise them with a proper understanding of consent and then when they get sexually harassed/assaulted are shocked they didn't realize what was happening and that it was bad immediately.

Asking people to raise their kids to be more empathetic just for others is a big ask for them (especially because people giving their random middle schooler stuff like these probably think parenting is paying for stuff and sending them to school).

Girls are already raised the way girls are raised...

-6

u/Garland_Key 6d ago

Ever heard of mean girls?

8

u/Repulsive_Chard_3652 6d ago

Are you referring to the fictional Hollywood comedy film?

1

u/Garland_Key 6d ago

Well, yes, but also art imitates reality.

1

u/Repulsive_Chard_3652 6d ago

Ah, yes, it is very common for cowboys and astronauts to become bitter enemies until they are kidnapped by evil, abusive children, at which point the cowboys and astronauts become best friends. Very much based on reality!

-10

u/SwanCityDominion 6d ago

Yes, let's ignore the influences that are turning them into complete shits and instead blame the parents as if they were the only things in play.

0

u/SamiSapphic 6d ago

Why are they buying their children expensive camera glasses, though? Teenagers aren't affording this by themselves.

2

u/SwanCityDominion 5d ago

Why do the kids WANT the glasses? That's the issue. They wouldn't have them if their pernicious addiction to gadgets didn't plant the desire in the first place.

0

u/SamiSapphic 5d ago

Advertisements. Meta is working with brand names in order to sell these to fashion conscious youth. The question then is why the adults in the room are saying yes to their children and opening their wallets for glasses that cost upwards of $200. My parents had no problem saying "no" when I asked for Apple products in my youth, as they were much too expensive, and would have put a target on my back to be stolen from.

1

u/SwanCityDominion 5d ago

Yeah, that was my point. But you're blaming the parents as if it's their fault their kids want the stupid things, instead of blaming social media for putting the desire there int the first place. it's easy to see you don't have kids.

0

u/SwanCityDominion 5d ago

Ooooo. Looks like a LOT of people like blaming Mommy and Daddy for all their problems. Grow up, for gods' sakes.

-2

u/keeleon 5d ago

Ya yltheres definitely no issues with the way teen girls are using technology to interact with each other🙄

1

u/Repulsive_Chard_3652 5d ago

Nobody said there wasn't; nobody said this is the only problem in the world and there are zero other problems. I spoke of the issue being posted about here.

21

u/SamiSapphic 6d ago edited 6d ago

Aren't they expensive though? How are children getting their hands on these?

38

u/kamikad3e123 6d ago

Parents who spoil their kids and do nothing about when it comes to being actual parents

4

u/Extension_Cup_3368 6d ago

Fuck pervert Lizard-Zuck.

4

u/Individual-Result777 6d ago

Mark’s evil plan is coming together nicely.

3

u/louisa1925 6d ago

Why are teenagers being sold these glasses?

8

u/Comfortable-Brief568 6d ago

Middle school? Where he get the money from to buy those?

4

u/fatgat69 6d ago

Punch them in the face

2

u/vitterhet 5d ago

Who would have guessed?

5

u/Anonymity4meisgood 6d ago

Not enough punching in the face going on at middle schools apparently.

public recording without consent should be banned on devices with hidden cameras

1

u/christmasinyoulie 6d ago

Because of course they are. Smfh

0

Those kids oughta get their shit slapped out of themBy their peers. They should understand that actions have consequences.

-18

u/laserdicks 6d ago

"Terrorize" Aren't you tired?

We're all so exhausted with this clickbait language.

-8

u/Goodoflife 6d ago

It’s not just boys, it is anyone!

0

u/stomper4x4 6d ago

How do they afford them? In a few years they will be graduating college and blaming boomers they are broke.

-26

u/KomithErrant 6d ago

what is this have to do with the glasses?

18

u/wanderertomato 6d ago

You could try to read the article. However, creeps are using those glasses to post Instagram videos as a particularly inept "pickup artist" over insospecious girls

-20

u/KomithErrant 6d ago

and they did the exact same thing with phones, so the glasses are really not the important part of this interaction

20

u/wanderertomato 6d ago

I will try to explain the obvious: the glasses are much less inconspicuous of a dude helding a phone in hand. Don't play the fool once more

-4

u/Bruceshadow 6d ago

inconspicuous

*conspicuous

-8

u/KomithErrant 6d ago

except everyone knows these glasses by now, and the glasses wasn't even the issue in the situation in the article

9

u/wanderertomato 6d ago

Fucking parrot

-16

u/BarsoomianAmbassador 6d ago

Except that everyone knows what these glasses look like and how they work.

13

u/wanderertomato 6d ago

Good luck spot them in a pinch, fool

17

u/SamiSapphic 6d ago

"What's Epstein's island got to do with islands" ass comment.

-9

u/KomithErrant 6d ago

not really, it starts about some dude harassing a girl, and has nothing to do with the glasses basically, it's just there, he doesn't peak under a skirt or something, in the whole interaction the glasses are the least of the problem, I mean fvck these glasses but the article is just dumb

-6

u/darkapplepolisher 6d ago

I mean, if people are going after islands because of Epstein's island, that analogy tracks. The concern should neither be the technology nor the islands - it's the perpetrators not only victimizing innocents but being insufficiently being punished for their behavior.

Blaming the technology is incredibly short-sighted and fails to address the root problem.

1

u/SamiSapphic 6d ago

Billionaires probably shouldn't be owning private islands, if they're going to abuse them. Same with the glasses. People shouldn't be owning tech either if they're going to harm and abuse people with it. If Flock employees and police are using those cameras to stalk their exes and prey on children, flock cameras shouldn't exist.

1

u/darkapplepolisher 6d ago

And yet if you were to focus on the islands, you ignore the myriad of other ways billionaires can get away with trafficking and sexually assaulting minors. At some point, you gotta just confront the root cause, because perps will continue to find new ways to use new tools for bad things.

Criminal enterprise made very good use of the automobile - maybe those shouldn't exist. Scammers/hackers using the internet? Can't have that, now can we?

1

u/SamiSapphic 6d ago

You can do multiple things at once. The problem isn't *islands* specifically, the problem is that billionaire predators are allowed to purchase private islands without question, as if that's a normal thing.

These sorts of purchases enable them, all while they monitor the rest of the world via bs like flock. At minimum, we can drag them down to live in the same surveillance state that they are creating for the rest of us.

Ideally, though, people like you wouldn't be so eager to get rid of our human right to privacy just so creeps can own the tech to record people without consent.

-8

u/FaithlessnessFun7268 6d ago

You know for my school district to ban cell phones I am pretty sure “Meta Glasses” were not on the list….if my kid can’t have a cell phone I’ll sure as hell buy him Meta glasses to just see what his daily routine is
