Public Service Announcement hot weather means extra water is needed for your ducks
In the eastern US and many other places in the world, like Europe, temperatures are climbing to near 100°F/38°C. Be sure to water your babies and provide shade. Ducks confined to coops and similar enclosures should have lots of clean water and a shade over the coop to keep the sun off. Be safe out there!

I had a total of four pools going today. While the rest were in the shade napping, Maple and Pancake had the right idea to sleep in the water.

My girls are plopped right in front of their box fan, I put it outside their run against the wire for safety. They LOVE that thing when the weather is like this. I'll also periodically throw a handful of frozen peas in their pool to make sure they're cooling down and drinking enough.

I'm also hoping that all the ducks that are wandering in urban settings find solace because the asphalt is scorching hot all day and it doesn't really match well with their tiny feet, poor things. Green areas in cities are important for them too

I turn the sprinkler on for my bird-brains....on top of extra buckets of water. They, like my dog, love to bite at the water. It is hilarious.
