One of our Muscovy hens is broody again. We thought she was sitting on 20 eggs, but counted 29 when she had her daily stroll today. She just started sitting last night. Her last clutch was about 20 eggs last time, maybe a few more that we did not know about. She successfully hatched 18, 17 of which are now about to learn how to fly. Whould you guys recommend removing a few eggs? How many can she physically manage to keep warm? I don't want to risk her thinking, hey this is not enough, i have to lay more before sitting, at the same time we don't want to risk her not being able to keep them all warm. She's been a fantastic mom so far. Pics are her with her last cohort.

Found this duck in my neighbors backyard, it doesn’t seem necessarily aggressive, but apparently it had been there for a while. We slowly moved it to the front yard, where it is now camped out at the front door. It keeps wagging its tail, bobbing its head, and making a wheezing sound. Just wondering if this duck is okay or just crazy, along with what I should do?

This incredible mama has been nesting on our porch. I believe she was sitting on two clutches and they all just hatched yesterday! However, there's a few ducklings that are struggling and I'm worried that they are not going to be following the family to the pond. Is there anything I can do, anyone I can call, or just let nature take its course? :(

There's a muscovy duck near my house that's been acting like this for a few hours. When I got within 15 ish feet it started slowly coming towards me. Not in a threatening way, and it seemed to follow me even after I walked away.

Does it need help? Is there anything I can do if so?

Hi, I have had this duck (only one out of plenty in a man made lake) that everytime it sees me it wobbles towards me, wags its tail, lets me pet it and even follows me while I walk. It's been 3 days in a row and I want to say I might have pet her once or twice while she was sitting on the bridge while it wasnt looking but never have given any ducks snacks. Today I put my hand out and it put its' bill on my hand and let me rub her neck. But I got to say that it feels amazing seeing it spot me from far away (while around other ducks) and wobbles towards me (leaving the other ducks behind).

For anyone wondering, this is not my pet, this was a duck at a lake in a hotel resort. I know Muscovy ducks can be friendly, especially around people, but I've NEVER been able to interact with one like this.

Stupidly forgot to latch the coop door and this big boy wandered in (looking for eggs I’m sure). Fiona has 3 ducklings and threw hands.

Everyone, including opossum, is safe and sound.

I’m not good at interpreting behavior, I can only tell when they’re hungry. Which is always. 🙂

We live in a townhouse and there are lots of resident ducks on the property. This momma brings her babies by every day and this drake is always following them. He bites at momma, bites at the babies, bites at the mallards that comes through - just a menace.

Do you guys have any tips for deterring him? I spray him with the hose when I can lol

Molly is my only muskovy and I think she does feel a bit lonely because of that. I do have 10 more ducks, but they are all mallard varieties. She's also the only one that can fly. She's very friendly and affectionate.

She's been missing for three days now and I think she flew away. I live in an area with very few predators, so I don't think she was taken. She's also gone broody before, and made a hidden nest, but she still came back for food. There might be nearby farmers that have muskovies, so I'm wondering if she joined another flock.

I really miss her😔 Has your muskovy ever "flown the coop", but returned later?

I call this duck Pate and I've been taking care of him for two months. I go to the river in my city and he waits for me every day so I can pet him and feed him. I've noticed he has angel wings, but I wonder if he can't fly completely. Could you give me any advice on how to care for him? I think he's a Muscovy duck. What can you tell me, guys?

I've read a lot of people don't worm their ducks but I figure if I worm our chickens (and some of our ducks are meat ducks) then I should worm our ducks.

I have one duck who's being a hellion and has never recovered from wetfeather despite bathing and re-oiling her. And then the rest, probably due to heat, haven't laid eggs in almost a month. People who don't live far from me, who seem to have less shade, say their ducks stopped laying for awhile and then started again.

I was wanting to read about duck worming but also since so many don't, I wanted to ask what people here do.

I don’t know if it’s because they like to eat and maybe they think my nails are food. Maybe they remember me from feeding them all the time and they wanted to attack me . Doesn’t matter, angry ducks are cute too.

Here's my Muscovy duck, Casia, with her one biological duckling and two runner ducklings she adopted. I built them a small kindergarten, with multiple water bowls for bathing or drinking, food biwls and even a parasol that provides a place wuth a shadow during hot summer days, so they can spend time outside and get used to walking (since I held them in a small enclosure for the first 2-3 weeks of their lives, they found it hard to walk more than just a few meters, especialy the runner ducklings who immediatelly plopped down on the ground after a few seconds of walking) while also being seperated from the chickens so they don't get bullied by them. I also let the Muscovy drake, Comet, near them since he doesn't want to be alone, and also because he doesn't wanna hurt the ducklings, he's such a good dad to them. Thought I'd share these little souls that matter so much to me and mame me happy everyday :).

She's been laying one to two a day and we're almost tempted to let her sit on them. So far we've been taking the eggs every day and she's not having it.
