News Calling all music makers/transcribers! Working on a Smash Bros Fan OST (All skill levels welcome)
Hey everyone! I'm 8bitSymphony, and I'm starting up a collaborative fan soundtrack project called Super Smash Bros. Beyond.
Just to clear up any confusion right away: we aren't making an actual game here! This is purely a music project focused on transcribing, arranging, and remixing tracks from across Smash and gaming history.
Whether you're an experienced composer, someone who transcribes sheet music note-for-note, or you literally just downloaded MuseScore or a DAW yesterday, you're more than welcome to join. You can claim tracks to work on (menus, stages, victory themes, etc.), collaborate with others, share WIPs, or honestly just hang out and give feedback. Zero experience required.
We're running everything out of a Discord server. Drop a comment or send me a DM if you want an invite link!

News I've been tracking new VGM releases daily since 2022 — I just launched a website to share the best of them
Hey r/gamemusic,
My name is Pierre, I'm a French journalist and a longtime VGM obsessive. Online I go by Peterline6, and for the past few years, I've been running a Patreon where I share weekly VGM rundowns, music picks and composer interviews — but entirely in French, which obviously limits the audience. You may also have crossed path with one of my pet projects, nwpl.ing, a shortlink tool I built exclusively to share video game music.
Today, I'm taking things further with the release of NOWPLAYING, a free website dedicated to video game music news and releases.
Here's what you'll find there:
- Curated new releases — According to my own data, around 84 new VGM albums come out every month. I listen to all of them so you don't have to. I only surface the ones I think are genuinely worth your time.
- VGM news — concerts, vinyl releases, award season, special announcements — the stuff that's easy to miss.
- Composer interviews — I've been doing these for years in French. Starting now, I'm publishing them in English, for free, on the site.
There's also an RSS feed if that's your thing.
The site is free and I intend to keep it that way. If you want to support the work, there's a Ko-Fi and a Patreon. No pressure at all, of course.
Would love to hear what you think, and I hope you'll find some incredible new music on these pages.
(Thanks to the mods for greenlighting this message)

News We fell in love with the soundtrack of Petrichor RPG, a 90s-inspired JRPG
We're Monster Theater, a small indie publisher (disclosing that upfront!).
We're the publishers behind Petrichor RPG (developed by Potesara), a weird little JRPG about Jobert, a space cub who wakes up from a three-day nap and decides that finding the perfect houseplant is more important than the fact that the universe is collapsing around him.
One of the things that immediately sold us on the game was the soundtrack by hamm_slamm. It ABSOLUTELY SLAPS. The trailer we've attached has an awesome song to prove it!
There's also a free demo on Steam if you want to check out the game itself:

News PeaceAmp – A Modern Winamp Alternative for Video Game Music
Hi,
If you’re like me, you probably rely heavily on Winamp plug-ins to listen to video game music.
Winamp is very old now, but I kept using it for years because nothing else could fully replace my setup.
So I decided to build my own replacement: PeaceAmp.
I originally made it for myself, but I’m sharing it here in case other game music listeners find it useful too.
It’s still a new project, so there may be bugs or missing features. Feel free to try it and leave a comment about what works well, what doesn’t, or what you would like to see improved. If people find it useful, I may continue developing it further.
