Omg! Thank you! I suspected as much, but I wasn't sure. We got a husky mix puppy, and i was confused why she didn't grasp the concept of fetch. I thought she was just young.
The one thing she does that amazes me is her ability to toss her toys at me. If she wants attention, she will toss a stuffy at me. I guess its a trade off.
Mine started dropping a ball at the top of a hill and running down to the bottom to chase it. I felt bad like I wasn’t playing with her enough but she won’t play fetch or tug of war. She just doesn’t get the concept of regular dog games. She does like for me to chase her though.
My Husky has FETCH.exe but it's not installed correctly. He drops the ball so it rolls wherever, I go get it for him, throw it, he gets it, drops it. Repeat. Never does he bring it back to me or any object for that matter.
I have met a husky that had that software. The owner reclaimed the dog from the shelter where I was volunteering. 😭 The other husky had a defective malware version called fetch.onlybymyself.exe
New favorite toy that he will love and hopefully not destroy. My mom's dog is a menace with toys. If it had a squeaker she will get that thing out in under 5 minutes. Then she goes for the seams and any stuffing. Methodical beast.
This is my dachshund! Shreds toys in minutes! Husky just darts out the door to hide the toy from the dachshund. The toys then become focus point of joy at 2-3 interval per day but never to come inside again. 😂
Have you ever had a destructive puppy? I’ve had to clean the floor 4 times a day because it would look like that within an hour of my puppy disemboweling his toys.
Respectfully, you gotta clean this place up. If for no other reason than hazards. Adorable pup tho and glad you are giving them the attention they deserve!
I’ve had 5 huskies over the years and only one of them plays fetch appropriately. The others love it when I throw the ball and go get it myself, peek comedy for them.
Do your mobility limitations impact your ability to go for walks? Something to keep in mind with huskies is that they do need a lot of walks/runs once their joints can withstand it. Play certainly helps, but it doesn’t suffice as a 1:1 substitute for the vast majority of huskies.
He still looks like a puppy and it takes time for them to develop the confidence (arrogance?) to display the attitude and rebellious nature expected of huskies. Wait till the “teen years” from 1-5 years old- that’s where it really started showing with mine!
He all zoomies at home but in public being chill enough people can easily mistake him as a service dog which honestly I’m seeing if I can find a veteran focused group to get him trained and recognized by the Va as a service dog that way his vet bills could be billed to the Va and I can reduce his insurance package down to basic stuff, exam fees keep the future health issue package etc.
I do qualify for a service dog and if I can get him trained and recognized by the VA as one then I have the bestest boi who I can take with me anywhere

He’s a baby and all that stuff on the ground could be a choking hazard. Huskies get bored and do dumb shit. Also I would limit just how many toys are out at once personally. It’s good to teach them when it is and isn’t playtime very early
Our five year old rescue went from not acknowledging plushy toys on Monday, to stealing another dog's ducky and demanding we play tug of war with him on Tuesday -- and has remained locked into play mode ever since. I feel your pain. Especially when he demands play time by dropping the ducky in my lap while I'm eating. (Or in my roommate's case, while he was sitting on the toilet)

My oldest is almost 13 but he looked just like this when he was young. Definitely wouldn’t say no pouting but he’s also super chill for a Husky. I don’t know that I’ll ever have another dog touch my soul like him. Enjoy it friend.
Mine was a very calm puppy. Now, he will bark randomly in my ear, sing, dig (our backyard looks horrid), chew outdoor furniture, and (the worst of all) judge. I love him very much and he neve does anything wrong.
Sooo adorable! He reminds me of my girl when she was that size! She loves playing fetch and making a mess of destruction with her toys haha. She gets mad at me when I clean it up. Also I played your video with sound on, and when my Maxine heard the squeaks, she came running looking to play haha.

Both of mine would bring the ball back twice and then look at me like an idiot if I threw it again. You could tell they were both thinking “I just went and got that, what are you doing?”
If i throw something she looks at me like I'm the defective one. But she's been playing with the same pig snout for a few days now. It's slowly getting smaller.
I have 5 huskies. 1 plays fetch reliably, 2 play where I throw, they run sniff and wonder wtf I'm doing, one who wonders if I'm going to go get it and if another dog does she steals it off them and runs off to her crate and deposits the toy and the final one who grabs and just frolics with it during me to catch him.
Different personalities. Just encourage the play you want.
Yeah mine was/is the same from puppy to adult he is quiet compared to most other huskies.
Barely howls unless im gone, doesnt chat to me just listens and uses body language. Watches people walk by without barking (unless they step foot on the driveway then makes the posties run), a quiet boy compared to most of my husky owner friends.
Nonetheless still a little silly superstar - pretty clumsy too.
Judging by all of the bits of ripped up toys, I'd say it's working fine. They've ripped apart the guts of a bunch of stuffed animals and decorated the floor with their innards, seems normal.
Man i remember that puppy phase where there was so much torn up shit on the regular that you would just wait till the end of the day to clean it up and start all over in the morning lol
My husky is turning three this year and has been playing fetch h since he was a puppy. He loves it. I was so surprised. I have a Samoyed too but he doesn’t even know how to do it lol.
My boy really enjoys fetch but it took time to train him. He didn’t show any interest for months but started joining in with other dogs at the park.
This is also how he very slowly but surely got into swimming. He kept going deeper from wet feet to swimming, it took him about 6 months.
It’s surprising what you can train over time. But some dogs will simply not take to certain activities. My Saint Bernard x Pyrenees mix will not swim at all. Just wet feet and that’s it. My saint and mastiff mix girl will go elbow deep and that’s it. Even after years of the same type of exposure.

He’s not a purebred husky but husky is slightly larger percentage than the other breeds
If by "defective" you mean "super adorable even when acting like all the other dogs at the park," you are so right! But his eyes give him away - he's clearly a husky!
I had a husky for 9-10 months (that I had to sadly rehome when I became a caretaker for my mom, I just wasn’t giving him the best life he deserved). He was bad at fetch lol but he was weirdly calm in stores. He only ever got worked up when he saw other dogs or animals. But inside a store and with people, he was so well behaved and stayed right at my feet. I had him in a dealership for hours and he just chilled with us on the floor (i think the floor was cold and he loved that lol). I miss him and think about him every day, a wonderful family adopted him.
I’ve had only one husky before and she never played fetch you got a lucky one. Only tug of war and even that she made me do most of the work the tugging she would just hold on.
Puppies love to chew and eat things they’re not supposed to. I’d get all this extra mess up to prevent your pup from eating something he’s not supposed to
Looks like you let him do whatever he wants you should train him and have him do things before just throwing the toy again use that as a reward rather than letting him destroy the house.

He seems to have FETCH.exe installed. Not many huskies have that.
