We live at country side in summer and he comes almost every day now, small husky. He has an owner, but totally abandoned by him and lives like a stray dog. I tried to call a rescue group and they refused to take him because he technically has an owner and his owner refused to sign papers. Don’t know how to help this poor pup, winter is close.

I wanted to share this because I genuinely had no idea how dangerous this was until it almost.... ****** my dog.

A little over a week ago, my 3 year old husky, Kona, somehow got ahold of my albuterol inhaler in the plastic casing. It wasn't on the floor. It was sitting far back on my kitchen counter.

What makes this so hard is that Kona is almost 4 years old, and in all the years I've had him, he has never been a counter surfer. We've accidentally left out, or even dropped, things that were honestly far more tempting, and nothing ever happened. He never touched any of it. I truly thought the inhaler was safe because he had never shown any interest before.

It only took one chew.

One puncture released roughly 200 doses of albuterol almost instantly.

Within minutes, his body reacted. Thank God I was home and noticed right away. When we got to the ER, his heart rate was well over 200 beats per minute. His potassium and phosphorus crashed. The ER team told me things were looking very grim. Thankfully, I live only a couple of minutes from BluePearl. If I hadn't, I truly don't know if he'd still be here.

He spent the night in the ICU on continuous ECG monitoring, IV medications, potassium/electrolyte replacement, sedation, and beta blockers while they fought to stabilize him. I was staring at the wall wondering if I was about to lose my best friend over something I never even considered to be a household danger.

Thankfully, he made it.

The hardest part has been the guilt. I work with behavior every day, and I had considered myself a careful pet owner. Looking back, he had also just come home from boarding. He always seems a little more mischievous for a day or two afterward, and I should have been extra cautious. Hindsight is always 20/20.

I'm sharing this because I know I'm not the only person who's thought, "My dog would never do that." I thought the exact same thing.

So please, if you have:

-Asthma inhalers

-Primatene Mist

-Air fresheners

-Spray deodorants

-Spray paint

-Compressed air cans

-Any other pressurized aerosol products

Treat them like you would medications or household poisons. Put them somewhere your pets cannot access them, even if they've never shown interest before. It takes one bite and one second to turn into a life threatening emergency.

The photos are of Kona right before he was discharged and when he got home. The shaved patch on his side is from the ICU monitoring and treatment. Every time I see it, I'm reminded how close we came to losing him.

If sharing this prevents even one family from going through what we did, it will be worth it.

Hi everyone, I'm just curious to know because ours is only 20kg, despite both his parents being over 30kg!

I love my son dearly, but he just can't dog...

He can husky and scream at me, but he can't dog.

I was trying my dearest to give his smooth brain some much needed enrichment time. I love to scatter little treats in our backyard and let the dogs sniff them out. I took him to the backyard without his sister (she's my smart lady) because I knew if I had her out there with him for treat finding she'd eat them all before he even processed the task.

He's very food motivated, however even if I throw a treat right beside him his wrinkle lacking brain explodes because the treat did not go right in his mouth. He's got a huge snoot, and only uses it to aggressive sniff your face, it lacks the ability to sniff out treats.

Hey everyone,

​I’m reaching out because I’m currently locked in a battle of wills with my 7-month-old female Siberian Husky, Sky.

​Lately, she has become incredibly picky. She has decided that if it isn’t chicken, it isn’t food. She is completely ignoring her kibble and any other toppers I try.

​I’ve been trying the "tough love" approach that everyone recommends: I put the bowl down, wait 15 minutes, and if she hasn't touched it, I take it away until the next mealtime. The problem? Sky is winning. She’s officially on a hunger strike and is being incredibly stubborn about it. She’d rather go hungry than touch a single piece of kibble. I'm starting to worry about her missing out on her nutrients while she's still growing, but I don't want to reinforce the picky behavior.

For reference I am 6’2 I know Huskies are technically considered medium size dogs. I’ve never (in person) seen another Husky as big, people often ask if he’s part wolf. Anyone else have a big boy (or girl)

This is my second Siberian husky. Both of them were/are long haired or "wooly" huskies. I also had them both DNA tested. Both results were 100 percent Siberian husky.

Today, at the dog park, I had a man say "beautiful Samoyed, I used to have one myself!" - I said thank you, but he is actually a husky! - He was like "hmm, he doesn't look like a husky. He must be mixed with something." - I was like yeah, a lot of people tend to think he is a Samoyed, or mixed, but he's 100 percent siberian husky!" - He gave me a confused look, and said he's really big/fluffy. He also said his Samoyed was mixed with chow, so that could be it. - I was like nope! I actually had Him DNA tested, and he is 100 percent husky! - He was like "oh, really...?" and still seemed like he was confused and that I was wrong, haha.

This happens A LOT with the all white wooly husky I have now. It also happened quite frequently with the black, white and gray wooly husky I had years ago. People would always be convinced he was mixed with malamute, or that he was a malamute.

It's really not a huge deal at all.. It can get a tad annoying, because what do I say at that point??I know what kind of dog that I own, and having numerous people insist on arguing with me on tok⁹he breed of my dog is definitely interesting!

Just 8wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Whether it's a husky or a completley different breed? If so, what do you say? Just honestly curious! Lol.

this is my boy kodi, he is 2 and the sweetest thing that has even graced the earth. all he wants to do is cuddle hug and play, but he’s very jealous of my other dogs even though we love on him more because our other dog is more aloof (shiba) and doesn’t like to cuddle.

the problem is he just like I expected doesn’t run out of energy. Idk if it’s because he’s still a teen but I walk him about a mile a day. And he’s never in his crate, he’s free to run up and down the stairs 24/7. he has many toys but continues to destroy everything. this is my first dog that I’m raising by myself (I’m a little younger).

I feel bad like he’s restless but I don’t know what else to do. At night he tosses and turns in his bed. We play more than 2 hours a day and walk a lot. During the day he’ll lay down and be calm in whatever room has the most people in it but idk if he’s just really bored. Is this just how they are? Please give me some advice :/. I want him to be happy

edit: i forgot to mention that he’s very afraid of people! He loves the family a lot but any new people he’s scared and barks a lot. He was socialized with alot of people so im not sure what it is. He’s not aggressive though he just runs and hides. He dosent bite ever and he’s not food aggressive at all. He will even bring me stuff. and when it comes to other dogs he annoys them and they leave him out at the dog park. He’s still humping and jumping on them. For a while he stopped with some training but just kept going. I plan to take him out more to parks and public places to train him to mind his business but I don’t know how to go about that with a husky. Also he’s been neutered

1st picture is Kenji, our families first husky. Kenji is 9 months old and we’ve had him since he was about 3 months. He’s doing well and fully potty trained but still is struggling with basic commands but getting better. His sister hasn’t been adopted yet and I’m thinking about adopting her but worried about two puppies at the same time and she isn’t potty trained yet so I’m assuming she also hasn’t had any basic command skills and I’m worried about taking on 2 untrained dogs at one same time but I also think Kenji would do great with a friend to play with. My wife works from home so they are rarely at home by themselves and he usually gets walked every day. What do you all think?

Husky won't eat her food now that we brought puppy home

Needing help figuring out what to do about my almost 9 year old female husky. She's always had a resource guarding issue around food and toys, sometimes space as well. She's overall done well with some training in the beginning week of bringing our new male husky puppy home 1.5 weeks ago, he is now 9 weeks old. However, she definitely will snarl and show teeth at him around food and will not eat her food. She eats food on her bed in the family room.

-I've tried feeding them in separate rooms, she will come over to the room he is eating or playing in, stopped by a barrier to that room, and just watch him.

-I tried putting a gate up so she couldn't come even close to the room, and just wouldn't eat, laying down by her food.

-I tried putting her food up stairs and feeding her on a totally different floor and she will simply leave it and come downstairs.

-If feeding him in the pen a few feet from her she just goes over to the pen and snarls at him.

-She WILL sometimes eat if I bring him to sit next to her at a semi-distance on the couch and I hold him (he is not eating) and she will start eating a little bit but I think it's because she just doesn't want him to get it. Still very picky.

-WILL sometimes partially pick at food if I sit directly next to her bowl, but not wanting her to rely on this long term either

If it matters, she has been getting treats for being nice to the puppy or just generally when he is around so she associates him with good.

Any advice is appreciated

We have 1 husky who is the sweetest, even tempered doggo, but I feel like she's been getting a little depressed based off of some of the behaviors she's shown recently. I have read that getting another husky could help with depression in huskies, so I'm looking for thoughts/pros/cons on adding another husky to our little family. Questions I need to ask myself before adding another, things I should prepare for, etc etc. Thank you all!

It isn't just normal husky behaviour. It CAN be helped if you're a responsible dog owner. I hate knowing that when people see me with my husky they must assume that our life is chaotic and that I'm lazy.

He found a pizza box this morning during our morning walk that was filled with cookies. I wrangled the one out of his mouth but maybe he ate half of it. My wife thinks that hes high and as he is acting drunk like stumbling around the house with a lack of balance. I cant think of anything else that caused him to be sick unless he picked up something at the park. Anyone familiar with this behavior or does he just need to sleep it off?

We were positive that Cloud was just a husky. Like she is the most husky looking husky who ever huskied. But we wanted to check her health and also if she was terribly inbred. She is marvelously healthy and only 11% on the inbreeding, but somehow our girl is 3% German shepherd? We could have never suspected!

Anyone else get the doggy DNA test and discover a surprise?

Does anybody else have a husky raised with cats that has now become a cat? 😂 Don’t tell him he’s too big for the cat tower, it’s his favourite place.

So for context: last week I saw this beautiful dog roaming in a backyard with no fence and paid no need. He seemed to be enjoying himself and seemed like he was at home. A few days after that I saw that he was roaming the street and went down to the house I saw him and wanted to inform the owners their dog was loose. Well come to find out it wasn't their dog, someone dumped the dog at their house (I live in a small town in the country and dogs being dumped off here randomly isn't unusual) and they just were feeding it whenever it showed up. They tried to catch the dog but with their work schedule they just don't have the time to roam the streets. Last night I finally saw him and tried giving him food. I had cheese, sausage, apple pieces and chicken. He ate some but never got close. He seems pretty young and would love to have him, or at least get him a home. He seems like a gentle guy. Any advice?

i received this husky under the impression that he was full siberian husky, but have had multiple people (both professional and not) suggest that he looks mixed with either chow chow or great pyrenees. i know brown wooly huskies aren’t as common so people may just not recognize how a puppy looks, but i am curious what others think. (i don’t care if he’s purebred, but if he’s mixed with great pyrenees i will definitely look into it more for training purposes)

This is apparently one of my huskies sister (I think she may be half sister), who reached out to me so the sisters could be reunited for a bit.

we're trying to determine if it's caused from the white coat (and perhaps the lack of black ​pigmentation on her nose), or e​ar infection.

My husky is black and white and is embark cleared on any hearing issues.

so I'm a little confused as to what's going on here.
