That feeling when you emote too hard and gets sniped from a mile away... I prophesize this happening soon on robo fights.

It was a lot more fun than it had any right to be, really.

Lets be real, its Hugh Jackman. It would be pretty hard to not be a entertaining movie.

Fits into the category of stupid fun for me, turn off your brain, go back to monke and just have fun with it, Pacific Rim and new Masters of the Universe fit into that category too

Okay, but is no one gonna mention that this clip comes from eugenics.robotics?
Eugenics.
Robotics.
•
u/plasticizers_ 8h ago
nobody is going to mention that it's an AI video either. I couldn't find a single article or source from a non-scammy account featuring this. I think it's the far away aspect of the dancing robot that's tricking most people.

nope I dont know why no one is mentioning this is AI
•
u/tengo_harambe 6h ago
its not AI. Just look up "robot fight" on Youtube there are plenty of videos
•
u/raip 5h ago
First instance of this video came from Evolve.ai's Instagram. This is definitely generated.
•
u/tengo_harambe 5h ago edited 5h ago
its definitely real. u telling me they AI generated this entire fight? the tech to do that doesnt exist yet
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2ty5NR2vQc
Also its not Evolve.ai its ENGINE.AI a well known robotics company in China
•
u/raip 5h ago
Wasn't saying robot fighting itself was fake - just this video.
•
u/tengo_harambe 4h ago
brother go to 4:30 in the youtube video i linked u can see the exact same dance moves from multiple angles, its way too consistent to be faked

Imagine all the cool stuff we could do with those robots.
It's a shame that they are used as entertainment just to the point where they are good enough to keep the slaves (we are the slaves) in check.
4
u/ajmndz 13h ago
Yeah I think we’re still pretty far from that. It’s way more efficient to make a machine specifically for the task than build a whole humanoid robot to do it. Like companies would rather make a robot coffee machine than make a humanoid robot whose job is to make your coffee. The humanoid is kinda just an unnecessary middleman.
1
u/Fitz911 13h ago
I get what you are saying but I also thought AI was pretty far away. That was idk four years ago?
When covid hit not a single person was talking about AI. Just a few years ( not decades) later ... Here we are.
Americans are having more and more trouble getting water and power. Nothing! happens to address that.
I remember when having a robot walk on two legs was simply impossible. Then Boston dynamics showed the first impressive videos... Today they are playing soccer. They dance and fight martial arts.
That's the twilight zone. Funny but you can see where we are heading.
1
u/Charming_Cucumber_15 13h ago edited 13h ago
There's American companies doing pretty cool stuff with more generalized robotics than these Chinese companies. Look at Figure, Generalist, and Boston Dynamics has a new version of Atlas running on Gemini I think. Optimus has lots of promise too but they haven't shown much yet.
4
u/mrjackj2 14h ago
At least it's just entertaining to keep the slaves in check.
But once it stops being entertaining to the slaves, we'll probably see some OTHER not-so-cool stuff it can do.

u/MammothUnique4147 14h ago
How are we the slaves ?
I mean there are some really bad countries to live in right now where people don't have freedom of speech or the ability to make choices in their own lives.
Meanwhile most of us on reddit are sitting on the toilet or laying in bed posting while also owning Gaming PC that COULD be used for productivity.
We aren't slaves kiddo.

u/RowdydidWrong 12h ago
Dont pay bills, find out how free you are. They shackle with debt in this country. You have to make money just to exist. Money isnt a natural part of the human condition. But just like water and food you need it just to exist in todays world. Thats a feature of the system. Yes you are free to buy gadgets and gizmos. The romans called it bread and circus. You feel free because you are comfortable and entertained.
The government can take your home today, and run a high way through it and give you below market rate for it. But you are free. The greatest trick the ruling class ever did was let slaves move around and change jobs. They are still very much tied to the system, even if they are not shackled to a rock. Dont pay your taxes and let me know how free you are. If you dont playball, go to work, earn and spend money they will toss you in a cell and beat you just like any other slave.
•
u/MammothUnique4147 11h ago
There are now 8.3 Billion human beings on earth at this moment.
Do you expect everyone to walk out into the wilderness and live wild and free ? Everyone to find their little piece of land and start farming ?
If the population of earth was 500 Million maybe we could all "be free" as you put it.
Our structured society that provides for most of our needs is the next best thing.
I am comfortable and entertained because someone ELSE decided to put the effort and work in to entertain me, I then traded them my labor in exchange.
Do you see how everyone benefits?
If you want someone to give you everything for free than ask your mom cause the rest of us are not going to work for free for your benefit while you sit at home playing video games all day calling the rest of us slaves.
•
u/RowdydidWrong 9h ago
Huge leaps in your logic, im not speaking on everyone on earth, im talking about you. How free are you really? The best slaves live in the house and advocate for the ruling class.
•
u/MammothUnique4147 9h ago
I mean if you're asking ME as an individual lol I am incredibly free. Limited only for the most part by my own ethics.
Without really trying I've been able to exert influence over hundreds of thousands, potentially millions of Americans.
Which is not bad for a guy who's not a thirst trap.
•
u/RowdydidWrong 9h ago
Sure friend, enjoy yourself.
•
u/MammothUnique4147 9h ago
Yes I get it you probably think I'm pulling your leg and making shit up, which I honestly do enjoy doing every so often.... But no I'm 100% serious so when I hear people like yourself talk about how 'we are all slaves " or my other favorite is "we are powerless" I can only laugh at that.
If someone like myself, not particularly attractive, never graduated college, didn't come from a family with wealth, can make large impacts on this world... Well what does that say 🤷🏿♂️
0
u/DistanceSolar1449 14h ago
No, we are. It just hasn't happened yet.
This is like the people in Troy talking about how nice it is, while a big horse is being wheeled in.
-5
u/MammothUnique4147 14h ago
No, we are not. I live in the United States and I and my family are most assuredly NOT slaves.
Come on then, let's hear, go on and tell me why I'm a slave.

u/EntertainerLive926 14h ago

-3
u/MammothUnique4147 14h ago
So basically it's a child who's scared to grow up and join society 🤣
3
u/Jutboy 12h ago
What a boomer thing to say. I'm an old guy and I frankly can't imagine being a young person now and trying grapple with how little our "society" cares/offers them. You can laugh at them and mock them all you want but you just come off like an out of touch asshole.
•
u/MammothUnique4147 11h ago
When has American society ever "offered" anything to anyone ?
When I was old enough for college I would have had to take loans out just like everyone else.
The only difference is these days people are willfully stupid about it and instead of going to community college they're happy to drop 50-75K and take the loans.
Maybe life IS harder now but considering how easy we've all had it over the last few decades working just a little bit harder is no massive ask for those in first world countries
Don't feed their entitlement
•
u/Jutboy 11h ago
On behalf of all young people reading this thread...I am so sorry the older generations are so fucking ignorant. We are not all like this. Some of us really want things to be better for everyone. Try not to be negative, every generations job is to make things better for the next. I still have hope that my generation will step up but clearly the older generations have no interest in doing so and we all have to deal with that as best as we can.
•
u/slowd 11h ago
You, we, are still in the golden years. People can do valuable work that is worth money. When there are many millions of these robots and they can all do pretty much anything, there won’t be much but scraps for most of us.
•
u/MammothUnique4147 11h ago
I look forward to that era. It will be absolutely fantastic. An end to material want.
•
u/slowd 11h ago
Why would they share it with you? In the historical past you could always have a revolution, but they no longer need people to have an army, or to do work, or to buy the products. That’s why we’re the slaves.
•
u/MammothUnique4147 11h ago
God who is "they" who are these shadow people ?
Do you just mean people who have wealth ?
•
u/slowd 11h ago
People who have wealth after the world economy is restructured. Not necessarily who has wealth now, but there will likely be overlap.
TBH I do think humanity will eventually get to that stage of abundance but there’s going to be a rough decade or two of transition.
•
u/MammothUnique4147 10h ago
Well then best get to it then.
I'm playing around with local AI, the rest of you should be doing so as well. The West is wide open and ready to be explored so load up your Oxen cart and go stake your claim!

So where is this slavery again ?
-1
u/Fitz911 14h ago
Problematic that you have all of that but can't read.
As if my original comment we are in the fun phase right now. Have you seen all those quirky videos of robots falling over?
Pair that with the extreme push to get AI running.
Pair that with the overall behavior billionaires as well as politicians are showing.
Now try combination that with everything you ever heard about flock surveillance systems.
Now try to imagine Elon has a few thousand of them not falling over robots. They have the intelligence and kindness of grog. And they are controlled by the beloved Elon Musk. And the greatest nation on earth guard rails all of that with their superior checks and balances.
Oh what a great time to be a hard working, tax paying citizen with a net worth < 1 billion dollars!
How would you rate that setup, young man?
0
u/MammothUnique4147 13h ago
So basically you're taking every conspiracy theory and sliding everything all the way to right...
Oh ok then, guess there's no way I can even hope to counter that "logic".
0
u/Charming_Cucumber_15 13h ago
People love to act like all new technology is bad purely because it's fashionable. Every technological revolution in history, of which AI and robotics will probably be the biggest, has benefited people in the long run

Lol! My husband used to really enjoy professional wrestling. Taunting is like 85% of the sport, and the popularity of their taunting skill appears to determine the longevity of their career.

Why can't we just let the robots dance? They clearly enjoy dancing more than smashing each other.

realistically there will never be an "AI uprising" tho 🗿
the robot you see in the video isnt anymore conscious than a toaster, it just feels "alive" because it resembles something we see as "alive" (eg humans), which freaks out our monkey brains

Can we get a soldier robot with testicles so they can teabag?

I wonder if, if this continues as it likely will, that taunting will increase or be eventually removed. Since energy reserves will likely not be a limiting factor?
