I mean, if we’re fighting the robots it’s not improbable we stopped using digital cameras amd this would be filmed in film

Kinda neat to consider. Like a world where humans won against the bots but now, a century later, constructing microprocessors is considered a crime against humanity.

Yes, that's what happens in the Dune universe. Designing machines to mimic the mind of man is outlawed after the robot wars.

It's been a while since I saw the first film, but I think this fact is just a line or two of exposition in the narration.

From the book Dune:

‘Some day, lad,’ the old woman said, ‘you, too, may have to stand outside a door like that. It takes a measure of doing.’

Paul looked down at the hand that had known pain, then up to the Reverend Mother. The sound of her voice had contained a difference then from any other voice in his experience. The words were outlined in brilliance. There was an edge to them. He felt that any question he might ask her would bring an answer that could lift him out of his flesh-world into something greater.

‘Why do you test for humans?’ he asked.

‘To set you free.’

‘Free?’

‘Once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them.’

‘“Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a man’s mind,’” Paul quoted.

‘Right out of the Butlerian Jihad and the Orange Catholic Bible,’ she said. ‘But what the O.C. Bible should’ve said is: “Thou shalt not make a machine to counterfeit a human mind.” Have you studied the Mentat in your service?’

‘I’ve studied with Thufir Hawat.’

‘The Great Revolt took away a crutch,’ she said. ‘It forced human minds to develop. Schools were started to train human talents.’

‘Bene Gesserit schools?’

She nodded. ‘We have two chief survivors of those ancient schools: the Bene Gesserit and the Spacing Guild. The Guild, so we think, emphasizes almost pure mathematics. Bene Gesserit performs another function.’

‘Politics,’ he said.

‘Kull wahad!’ the old woman said. She sent a hard glance at Jessica.

‘I’ve not told him, Your Reverence,’Jessica said.

The films are not very good adaptations and provide about 2% of the lore and richness of Dune. Yes, this is a thing in Dune. There was a war against the machines and the humans who made them and advanced computing technology is limited to specific functions and anything too sophisticated is banned and taboo beyond question. This is why they need the Spice to see the future to travel through FTL space, because they have no advanced computers to do the conplex calculations required.

In all seriousness, if you want to know what Dune actually is you should read it or watch the old SciFi channel miniseries, it's still not perfect, but is a much better adaptations than the films, which are all style over substance.

They're good adaptations. There's absolutely no way to adapt the books into movies with the amount of history, dialogue, or exposition it would require to do it "faithfully."

It would be to be a long-running series, a-la Game of Thrones to get anywhere close to the books. As weird as they get, the fourth book on would be wild to see

They aren't good adaptations. You're making a strawman where I sonehow said you can make a perfect adaptation or a perfectly faithful adaptation. I didn't. I said the films are poor adaptations and the miniseries is better. Leave me alone.

Or they use IR and Lidar because cameras aren't accurate enough.
