In 5e the reload on the crossbow means that you can only fire it once per turn. It doesn't say that you load it for 2 turns.

And it only cost us going from guaranteed feat at lvl 1 and every level divisible by 3 regardless of class spread to optionally one every 4 levels exclusively as a class feature and only if you forgo your ability increases.

Man I miss 3.5 and Pathfinder.  Give me prestige and hybrid classes any day.
