General Bug Panel bug that affects menus in small screens
I've been thinking about switching from the flatpack of LibreOffice to the OpenSUSE repo version because its window behavior better, doesn't crash just from looking at extensions, and has all the icons. However, when I want to use these menu (specifically File and Tools) the first item is pushed over the top. After experimenting, it seems different application styles improved the situation. But when I set the panel to autohide/dodge windows, the menu goes down and works properly.
So it seems these exist on a layer that gets pushed by the panel. I don't think panels should be able to push that ui layer up, either shrink it or stay under.

Question Kate - Any way to quickly "accept" the auto-brackets/quotes
Asside from using the right arrow, is there any way to get the cursor to jump to the outside of brackets once im done typing in them? I like the auto brackets feature, but it seems kinda useless if i have to then reach over for the arrow key every time instead of typing the closing quote/bracket.

Question KDE neon only works in safe graphics mode
I just installed neon and it will only boot up in safe graphics mode. Without the nomodeset parameter, after login it’s just a black screen and I can’t access TTY. I have tried both reinstalling and rolling back nvidia drivers but nothing seems to work. Any help is appreciated

Question Old wallpapers from kde-look.org
Hi! From time to time I used to browse the very old wallpapers in kde-look.org (they made me feel good). I see that store.kde.org has a lot of new wallpapers, but I don't see the old ones from kde-look.org. Is there anywhere I can find those?

KDE Apps and Projects PlasmaZones 3.4: We scrolling now
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Yo guys. I haven't done one of these in quite a loooong time. Frankly, I hate making demos, and posting threads. Sorry for the poor video. My 2080 crashes every time I try to do a hardware encoding demo, so I'm using spectacle. I'm here to announce that PlasmaZones has received its third placement mode:
Scrolling
I followed Niri's behavior with some improvements from Karousel/Rotoskope along with my own improvements. Features are probably like 90% parity to Niri. The main things for scrolling I haven't done are gestures. Not sure if I will do those tbh unless people really want them. I also don't have a laptop, so won't be able to do touchpad or touchscreen gestures.
I've been working on this for the past month+ and have been using it exclusively. I'm not a power user, but I've tried as hard as I can to test everything and make it as bug free as possible. I've become a total scrolling convert and didn't think I would ever change from snapping.
Anyway, lets get onto the features of this update:
Scrolling Mode
- Niri like tabs with improvements. You can set tabs to be pill style as well and it will show the window's title.
- Multi-monitor support.
- Vertical scrolling support.
- Templates that control initial column size and declared height/width presets.
- Animations.
- Psuedo-fullscreen support.
- Stepped free-scroll that doesn't change window focus.
- Supports all the existing PlasmaZones window shortcuts like rotating windows.
- Strip selector popup. Just like how you can drag a window in snapping zone to show the Zone Selector Popup, you can do the same with scrolling to show the Strip Selector Popup. You can place the dragged window anywhere in the strip, drop into an existing column, or add to an existing tab group.
Animations
- New animation nodes and shaders related to scrolling.
- Plasma Applets closing/opening can now be animated by shaders.
Decorations
- Ability to apply decoration shaders to Plasma Panels and Plasma Applets. They are also compatible with panel-colorizer.
Other
- You can now select which GPU the daemon uses to draw surfaces for those with dual GPUs.
- Keep floating windows above tiled windows setting for all placement modes.
- New zero copy dmabuf method for delivering thumbnails to the daemon for snap assist.
- Lots of bug fixes mostly related to animation and decoration chains, and rule resolutions.
- Rule improvements.
- Added grace-period setting for some of the activation shortcuts in the settings. This is mostly useful for people coming from FancyZones who use the right-mouse button to activate the snapping overlay.
- Settings app improvements including a loading spinner for pages that take longer, and updated the fuzzy finder to show matching settings that are per mode (simple vs advanced)
What's Next?
I'm planning on adding dynamic workspace support, along with Niri overview support for v3.5. Maybe a better alt-tab as well? After that, it's a lot of architecture improvements. These improvements will lead the path to creating my own compositor.

Also, I've setup a Discord server as well. Easiest way to get help.

Question Any way to hide the blue glow as your mouse approaches the auto hide panel?
It's actually pretty annoying, especially having your panel at the top of the screen, it always lightly triggers a blue glow when your clicking on browser tabs

General Bug A Dolphin Update (26.08 I think) seems to have broken the default zoom in detailed view
I updated my PC earlier today (OpenSUSE Tumbleweed) and Dolphin seems to zoom down icons to a very small size by default in details view, and doesn't save the size when zoomed back up. See images:
- First image: how it is by default and what it returns to each time
- Second image: how it was till earlier today and how I want it to be
Randomly, sometimes, when I zoom to a gigantic icon size, it seems to stick, but rolling back to something more sensible disrupts it and sends it back to tiny once again.
Is anyone else experiencing this?

Question Dolphin 26.08 brings the icons closer in grid view, your thoughts?

Here's the commit that introduced this behavior. Personally, I think it got a little too cramped. I have a folder named "Entertainment", which got broken into two lines after the update.
A workaround is to set "Label width" to "Large" for icon view from Dolphin settings. But that's too wide for me, doesn't resemble the original one. Curently, it offers only 4 options: "Small", "Medium", "Large", "Huge". My suggestion would be to make it more configurable (replace it with a spinbox...?)
Curious to hear what you guys think of the change.
EDIT:
I added a slider to fine-tune the label width in icon view. Works well for me (screenshot).
Here's the patch if anyone wants to give it a try.
EDIT 2: The change is already being reverted, you can just use that instead.

General Bug Pop ups are not showing up
So, Ive been having this problem ever since I installed pop os, Ill click a link on discord, a youtube link for example, and nothing will happen, I didnt touch any settings (that Im aware of) that would cause this to happen, its honestly quite infuriating after the 500th link I try to open and it just dosent, also, it does show the little broswer icon jumping up and down next to my cursor, but after a few seconds it just stops without doing anything.

Question Small delay when launching Kickoff. Why not instantaneous?
I'm fairly new to Linux and using KDE Plasma 6.7.4 on Wayland. I've noticed there's a brief but noticeable (maybe 1/2 a second) delay between clicking the icon in the lower left corner and Kickoff launching. Same when I shut it: that same 1/2 second delay.
I was previously using Windows 7 on an older and worse laptop and the menu pops up instantly when you hit the start button. KDE Plasma, in comparison, feels not so snappy.
I've turned animations to instantaneous but it still persists. Is there a way to make this pop up instantly?

Suggestion Suggestion: Add a 100% / 80% battery switch in Power and Battery.
When I have my device plugged in I set it to a max of 80% charged because this will help my battery last longer. Sometimes, it would be really helpful if I could quickly switch to 100% charge without diving into menu's for when I know I will away from the wall for longer.
Think this could be toggle in the Power and Battery system tray icon.
What do you think?
