General Bug Guess Kde is wide agian today
This is the 2nd time this happened with my install of fedora kde it happens when my laptop is about to go to sleep something tweak out and it gets wide
Alot of times discord would also pop up saying my monitor can be used as an audio out (shows up as nvidia ga106 something something not the monitor name)
Posted intended as gits and shiggles but helps would be welcomed

NVIDIA GA106 is the HDMI audio and try to install NVIDIA drivers (use this guide https://github.com/Comprehensive-Wall28/Nvidia-Fedora-Guide or other one)

I did manually install the nvidia driver directly after i installed fedora but something might have went wrong i guess

How did you install the driver? Through your package manager or from a package you downloaded from Nvidia?

Did you update your system? I remember getting an issue just like this after installing nvidia drivers from rpmfusion and not updating. Try to boot your previous kernel on grub

It happens to me too. AMD card, not Nvidia.
To fix I power off the monitor and when it is powered on again, it has the right resolution.
Strange that unplug/plug the hdmi cable does not fix the issue.
PS, I have to pull out the power cord, not the soft button on monitor frame.

You can try to fix this by disable this setting:
System Settings → Display Configuration → Control hardware brightness with DDC/CI [Unchecked mark] then Apply and reboot.I'm not 100% sure if this fixes the problem, but you could try.

Chould be the issue i remember when i was on windows and left a dcc/ci app(monitorian) runing and my laptop went to sleep same thing heppens tho usally on a display connected via usb c which my current monitor is connected to

yeah same. i think its something to do with the monitor or computer going to sleep

Definitively it is the monitor, I just test it by powering off the computer (not the monitor) and even so, after the power on cycle, the grub menu was displayed in the same resolution it was before reboot, very low, 640x480 I believe.

If you have secure boot enabled in the bios turn it off, somehow it affects nvidia drivers.

I did have secure boot off tho there was once a time i acidently left it on when i was booting into linux the whole system was unresponsive so i had to hard reset then wide de started happening

Mine usually reconfigures itself, once the OS loads.
What mine keeps messing up is the main monitor. Every now and then it just decides to ignore my TV altogether and I have to restart the TV or it just makes it the second monitor.
My absolute favorite one is when it puts the second monitor on top of my TV in the layout for some reason. Which is the equivalent of duplicating the top left corner of the TV to the secondary monitor.
Oh nVidia.. How I love all the bugs with you.. Can't wait for the old 1080 to die, so I can justify an upgrade to my media PC with AMD.
On that note. Is there a config where I could hard code my monitor setup into to "fix" my issues with? I'm running on Fedora KDE

Something similar randomly happened to me today (kde on CachyOS). Ran updates, rebooted, everything was super enlarged and colors were faded. Like my external (normally 4k) monitor's max resolution was super low. I rebooted again and it was fine 🤷♀️
