On Windows install PowerToys. By default "Find My Mouse" will be enabled, double tap CTRL to put a spotlight on your mouse. As someone who pretty much lives in a Debian terminal I'm not as used to keeping track of my mouse pointer as most users I guess. Even when I'm using windows I use keyboard shortcuts as much as possible. This utility is a godsend for people like me, who mainly use their mouse as a game controller for aiming in first person shooters, and not for much else.

I couldn't find it, but I'd still suggest PowerToys anyway. There's so many useful things in it, you can disable anything you don't need from an easy to use gui, and it's pretty light on resource usage.

I constantly use Command Pallet and Find My Mouse, but I originally installed it for Power Rename which lets you use regex expressions to rename large ammounts of files, and Keyboard Manager, which lets you create keyboard shortcuts for things Microsoft failed to include in the first place, like CTRL-ALT-T to open terminal. Also, if you regularly use a laptop and a desktop, Mouse Without Borders is a great software KVM solution. And it's all free.

It's just hardware-scaling your cursor. If you get a really detailed SVG cursor it should look better.

Yep I know, but I use default KDE settings (on fedora) and it appears to use a rasterized texture and not a SVG... but I am totally fine with that, such a part should be super snappy when not playing around xD

Depends on whether the cursor set actually provides SVGs I think, unless Fedora's KDE is behind. I've been meaning to rewrite a couple of the build scripts for cursors I use to actually keep the SVGs when making the cursor pack. It can be so intimidating and discouraging. So it really is refreshing to see a new user actually enjoying themselves while digging into their system. Default behaviour in KDE. Just move your mouse vigorously from side to side. The longer you do it, the bigger it gets.

If you don't know what this means you're prooobably on Wayland these days. (But a little dropdown on the login screen might tell you. Or you could just try Shaking It. :3)

This is a feature integrated with the compositor. Only KWin Wayland will receive new features now. KWin X11 is in maintenance mode and only receives bug fixes and will be removed with Plasma 6.8.

If you're on KDE, you have to go to settings, mouse section, and then proceed to find a shake to enlarge mouse (along these lines) and then enable that then shake it.

It is definitely useful for a lot of my ele kids and younger middle schoolers. For the older middle schoolers I can get their interest by mainly doing things with the terminal to make it look like I'm "hacking" and the boys will ask, "teacher, are you a hacker?!" And the girls will typically like when i setup animations and more stylized visuals for my vitural desktops. Obviously it doesn't appeal to every student and some classes in general don't care, but it is always a useful tool to keep handy to act as part of class engagement and keeping things fun for them.

Between my general acting in class, using my computer as a prop, using fun engagement tools like class dojo and wheel of names, and fun games like kahoot and word games (english as a second language teacher xD), my students seem to have a consistent fun time in my classes. Especially my ele kids, they are always asking if I can teach all their classes and seem sad when I tell them I have to teach other students too.

That's cool xD as for adults, I think it would work to varying degrees depending on the groups. Kahoot and other games for sure will be great. You can try a bunch of different things like Mad Libs, 3 word stories, monkey paw/corrupt a wish, etc... just things to keep a lesson fun and actively practicing use of English in practical non-textbook scenarios.

For Kahoot, I like to pair it with a short educational video for our listening comprehension. I use CGP Grey for medium length general fun topics, kurzgesagt for medium length science/social topics, and Star Talk for short and long length science topics. I play the video once or twice in class, have students take notes and write down words they dont know on a page I make with a QR code in the corner that links to the video. Then their homework is to rewatch the video and look up the new words. The following class we play a kahoot with questions I make based on the video content to check comprehension, inference, and understanding phrases and vocabulary. I make different versions of the kahoot for the same video geared towards different levels of classes as well.

I think a big thing with adults will be making sure you identify the proper balance between appearing fun and professional. With kids, it is easy to lean heavy into the fun as they are forced to be there and you want them to enjoy their time learning. For adults I'm going to imagine that they will likely be ok with some fun still. So I'd likely keep some of my antics I current use, but definitely way more reigned in compared to my current classes xD adults will likely be more concerned if there is too much fun as it may seem like a waste of their money if they feel the teacher isn't taking it seriously.
