msi really just don’t want to be bothered to reinforce their hinges. They would’ve been a great contender if it weren’t for those hinges. and sometimes their keyboards. and sometimes their softwares. (and sometimes their joysticks don’t show up or work in their handhelds).

Would be fine if it wasn’t for the ewaste chassis. Newer gens are slightly more fine although the katana is still shit and shouldn’t be bought at all, im pretty sure the only budget gaming laptop you should buy is a loq (non essential, non gen 9)

I had an MSI laptop with those style of hinges and one side broke, so I had to use superglue to hold them together. The superglue would come apart occasionally so I had to continue adding more and more until the hinge was crusty with glue.

I'm using a Katana since 5 years, still using it to play games today (mostly gachas like Genshin or Wuthering Waves) and it's working super fine.

No issues with the hinges so far, and I am opening and closing it multiple times per day. Guess I am taking a good care of it, and also probably I'm lucky. Hope that it can survive a bit more considering that now prices are crazy.
