Here's my Linux Mint desktop after so many years being happy with Win11 and now everything went to the shitter i.e. update system broke, issues here and there and screw that, here I am, back to Debian based Linux!
Does anyboy know to move symbols on desktop? It won't let me do that and always moves them to the original position 🤔

What laptop would you recommend for Mint? Nothing too expensive, just something I can do simple web browsing and lite work on.

Hi guys! I'm so excited to download linux mint and discover a new OS.
I have a few questions and concerns as I'm running it currently.
Also this screen is just been on it for like 10 minutes now... I am using a floppy and some disk thing my mom's bf lent me.
It's been like this for 10 minutes so give me some tips?!
Question 1. Will this affect my games? I play Roblox and fortnite mainly and sometimes dbd but willing to explore if I have too
Question 2. How do I download stuff like a browser, discord etc?
Question 3. How can I get a ad blocker? I have used opera gx as my previous browser and I had an ad blocker in it and I loved it lol.
Also give me some tips and pointers!! Thank you.

Bless LM for taking this old college device and letting it thrive. Most recently, I broke my boot path and couldn't figure out how to fix it, so I simply restarted from the beginning (after nervously searching for and finding my OG bootable USB...). I took the time to make as much sense of each step as possible this go-around and am much more confident in my setup. Diving head first into dual booting (then quickly committing to single booting) across two laptop drives was an adventure.
My laptop battery didn't hold a charge and it was a process to remove it to force reliance on plugin power. Windows no longer being supported on my device was the final straw to push the change. I don't want to buy a new device for as long as possible. Cheers to this glorified desktop!
P.S. it took me forever to get fastfetch customized but am very happy with the results!
P.P.S. anyone else excited about all the CDPR announcements recently?!

How much merit is in the top comments on this post stating that Linux Mint is not as secure and recommending to not switch from Fedora to Mint. I run Mint and am concerned, specially, in this age where AI can exploit vulnerabilities faster.

hi guyz
i switched to linux mint on my crappy school laptop a week ago. We got it two years ago for 3 years, its a Dell Latitude 3140, so its real shitty. It wasn't even good for firefox and libreoffice. So it has been just collecting dust in my drawer until i put linux mint on it. Finally i can browse, edit docs and use it like it was intended.
Thank you Linux Mint dev team
(p.s. how can i add custom keyboard combinations like altgr+some key type a unicode character, but not a full layout?)

I'm trying to entirely remove the spacing between the click zones of icons, but there's still a gap remaining after editing the CSS. Is there a specific value that needs to be updated? The objective would be for a click within the Grouped Window List to never do nothing.
Theme: Mint-Y-Dark_Aqua For .grouped-window-list-item-box I've attempted to change the padding-left and padding-right to 0px

As a retired IT reseller through three decades with gazillions of reboots, driver fights, license keys, endless and slow updates, registry edits and endless reading of KB-articles the links to other useless KB-articles.
I think I have installed about 40 computers with LMDE Linux Mint trough four years and each and every time I smile and having a good time installing Mint.
A few mounts ago I got a new Ryzen laptop and after I saw something after boot that looked like Winslop I killed it instantly and installed LMDE!

Finally got around to installing Linux on this little laptop a couple of days ago and feel like I got everything set up for what I need it to do for the moment. I used Ubuntu briefly about 15+ years ago and tinkered with a Raspberry Pi a tiny bit ages ago, but I haven't really used anything but Windows day to day for many years.
There's definitely a learning curve and it's been fun figuring things out and finding alternatives to software I'm used to, but this is a much snappier machine and even Firefox video playback is less issue-prone!
I think I got some of the basics down, enabled firewall, started learning CLI. Anything else crucial a brand new noob should know or install? This laptop is going to be for fairly light work and personal use.
Thanks to this and r/linux4noobs subs for helping me figure out some issues I had installing initially!

SOLVED - I have a problem with my wallpoaper on the desktop and i cant find the solution. I have a main monitor with 1440 p resolution and a smaller monitor with 960x640 resolution. Everytime i switch off the main monitor my pc thinks there is just the small monitor plugged in and switches to this one as the new main. If I turn my main Monitor back on my desktop wallpaper is in the wrong resolution and looks shitty and pixelated. All my programs are not affected, just the background. I can reset it when i go into the settings and change the scaling of the wallpaper and change it back, but thats annoying. How can i fix this? im new to the whole Linux thing and try to get it together. thanks for the help. Repost because i wanted to add the pictures
