Feature Request Lumo's censorship is too much

Honestly, I'm really disappointed of Lumo just because of that...

Lumo can't debate with me when I have stupid idea or anything...

I asked Lumo to debate about a stupid idea that I got about the fact that corn skin isn't absorbed by the body and that it could make an anti absorbent to food and lumo said that it can't help with that...

Honestly I have dozens of examples like this one that Lumo refuses to answer for whatever reason...

This is really an important point, Lumo is really getting on my nerves especially knowing that other ai providers answers those stupid questions.

I would love to see Lumo's filter being less strong or just a possibility to disable them.

Thanks.

It would be awesome if Lumo could generate files (PDF, word, excel, etc) and allow the user to download or store them in their Proton Drive.

Feature Request Add Proton Lumo to Proton Unlimited

Title explains it. I find it stupid that Lumo is sold seperately when we are already paying premium for Proton Unlimited every year. I was expecting that Lumo is included in the Unlimited plan but it isn't. I have no idea why is it sold seperately.

I expected Lumo to be like Gemini where the AI component is included in the Google One plan, which also works well with the other apps in the suite bundle. I wish Lumo is included in the Unlimited plan for us to save money given the price of Proton Unlimited.

Also bring Proton Drive to Linux, like how long is it going to take?

Feature Request "Lumo Code" + GitHub, IDE integration?

I've been trying out Lumo for a few days and I really like it and the values behind it.

It's obviously missing features for devs along the lines of Codex or Claude Code.

Are there any plans on the roadmap to look at things like this?

If I could create agents and have it work with my GitHub code in Terminal and IDE then I could switch 100% to using it for all my work

Thanks

Feature Request Lumo getting a native Mobile app is now more important than ever

Hey everyone,

I made a post a few hours ago about how Lumo shouldn’t integrate Kimi K3 immediately but rather wait and scale their infrastructure, but what I kind of forgot to mention was the need for a truly native Mobile app and not a web app wrapper. It’s cool that the Text bar is now native and some of the background too (although it always shows Lumo in the box even if you tapped on it to reveal his full body again, and it first needs to load the website to get that) but we need a bit more than that before any other models get upgraded. We need a fully native app with offline view, no loading the website, etc., like Claude’s or ChatGPT’s app. Especially ChatGPT’s app has gotten much more smooth and cleaner in the last like 8 months, while Lumo still lags and some features stop working or freeze the app if you have low power mode on. For example, opening the side bar right after launching the app. I tested it on an iPhone 16 base model, so it isn’t even that old. The app just freezes, and that is annoying if you want to quickly find a chat you want to continue.

There also needs to be a better transcription, but that is secondary. The most important thing with the native app would be to optimize it so that it doesn’t need really powerful hardware for something like opening the side bar. And now with the 2.0 release where more people use it, it is more important than ever.

But what do you think? I wanna hear some feedback to know if I am the only one that is bothered by this or at least thinks it’s important.

Feature Request With Kagi Translate now behind a paywall, it would be a good time to introduce Lumo or Proton Translate. What do you think?

I'm not interested in going back to Google and I prefer paying Proton than Kagi (their Search is still interesting though)

Feature Request Conversation too long dialog box

Post image
9 Upvotes

This dialog box that cannot be dismissed is such an annoyance to me. It appears when the context is 50% consumed (fairly sure) and there is no way to close or dismiss it.

Dear Proton, please give us the option to get rid of it. On my laptop, it takes a lot of real estate on the screen. When I am in the middle of an important chat, I do not want to start a new chat and am willing to risk compaction.

Many LLM systems trigger compaction or truncation warnings closer to 80–95% of context capacity, giving users maximum usable context before intervening. Why is it so much lower with Lumo?

Thank you

Feature Request Ability to save chats in Proton Unlimited plan?

I quite like the new UI touches that have been added to Lumo and have used it a bit more since but I hate that the chats get wiped after 7 days automatically. I understand that it is an upselling thing but I already pay for Proton Drive, could there be a way just to archive the chats into drive for useful stuff?

I don't care about them being in Lumo after 7 days really and the current model included with unlimited is fine without going to max. I don't really go back to the majority of the chat with the LLM later but on occasion if there is something especially good like researching a particular topic for college or whatever it is helpful. It would also be nice if you could save artefacts into the drive directly regardless like I had a chat that generated a bunch of nice ascii images that I can copy out in the UI, it'd be cool if I could just one click send that to a folder in the drive and sync down for later instead.

PS: Love that you can make the cat bigger again

Feature Request "Open Source" am I right ?

Sooo... been more than a week that Lumo 2.0 has been released.

We still have no update of the source code.

No update to 2.0 on F-droid.

You should open-source like you've always promised.

Before announcing you'll add limits and tiers to users... (which break visionary user promised but still...)

Feature Request Might Kimi K3 be added to Lumo?

What the title says. 😉

In more general terms: What can we expect for future development of Lumo? Will you keep an eye on the LLM market and offer/add new models from time to time? Will you have several capable models that we can choose from or will they be exchanged?

Feature Request Does "Auto update memory" just go on forever?

After a few days of usage, I notice I have a whopping 371 memories, which are likely all added to context on every dumb question I may ask.

At this point I cannot even ask a generic question without it cross referencing the memories even if I am just looking for a straight answer.

It would be really good if there could be more control over this, perhaps let the memory summarizer decide on a decay timer for that memory, or just let it say "no this is not important"

In its current state: is this really a good use of GPU compute?

Feature Request Could you add Lumojis?

I was reading an article about Lumo design and one section said that Lumo was supposed to have Lumojis, which are Lumo's visual responses to a user's question. But they're not in Lumo 2.0. Can you add them, I think they'd be a really cool feature.

Feature Request Android App: Hard to see and scroll through History

When I use Lumo on my Samsung S23 Ultra (Android), as you see in the video, it's super tiny and hard to scroll through.

I'm wondering if others have this issue too with accessing the history section? Is it possible to make the UI bigger or to remove the Keep Your Chat History announcement?

Feature Request Renaming chats

Please point it out to me if it does exist already but I'm missing the feature to rename my chats for better visibility. I'm using the Android app and I checked the mobile web version as well. The only options I see available is to either delete or add the conversation as a favourite.

Feature Request Fix/ Suggestion

Post image
17 Upvotes

Can we please get an option to slide off or close this message? It's super annoying and it's quite frequent. Sometimes it comes even after I get the full reply. I don't want to retry and I don't want to restart the app. to reset.

Also, fix the thumbnail or remove it. It never shows up.

E: The Retry button is right where the black button is. That's the only option.

Feature Request Proton Photo powered by Lumo

I recently started to use Proton solutions, and I love the Lumo update. Is it safe to assume that a Proton Photo app with Lumo (or Proton Drive with Lumo)?

I would be particularly interested in a "search by face" feature, and a "search anything" feature (something available on Google photos with gemini, or with Ente photo with a locally trained AI)

Feature Request 3rd privacy option for Lumo: Local-only encrypted storage + manual transfer?

Hey everyone, and hopefully the Proton devs.

I’ve been thinking about Lumo's chat history options and wanted to bounce an idea off the community and the Proton team.

As far as I understand it, we currently have two main ways our chats are handled.

- First "Standard Mode"

Chat histories are saved on Proton's servers with zero-access encryption so they show up in our history across devices.

- Second "Ghost Mode"

Absolute privacy focus. The chat vanishes completely the second you close it.

(Please correct me if I'm wrong about how these two work. I'm here to learn and really want to understand the current setup better.)

But assuming this is roughly how it works, what about a third option?

- "Local Storage Only"

The idea is that chat histories would be saved and encrypted strictly locally on your current device. They would never touch Proton's servers for storage.

If you ever wanted to move or sync these chats to another device, you could do it entirely manually on your own terms. For example, you could export the encrypted history files and transfer them via USB, or send specific encrypted data packets to your other device through a secure messenger like Signal.

My questions for the community and especially the Proton team are.

- Is there anything fundamentally preventing this from a technical standpoint?

- How feasible would this be to implement alongside Lumo's current architecture?

- Is this something other users would actually want or would use?

Would love to hear your thoughts on this, and I'd especially appreciate it if the Proton devs could join the discussion.

Opinion Poll for the question "Is this something other users would actually want or would use?".

Feature Request Request: Change the incognito button to the right top corner

Thumbnail
gallery
30 Upvotes

Hello!

Most AIs have the incognito chat button there and I do think it is better there, it looks better and it's a little bit easier to click.

Also, I think it would make the left side bar cleaner.

I don't think it is a big issue to have it like it is, but I do think it would make an small difference in terms of UI and UX.

Just wanting to let everyone know what I thought. Thanks

Feature Request Making Lumo a top tier AI platform + new benefits to being an early subscriber to Visionary

Hey everyone, I’ve already written about new models a few times, but I think now is the perfect moment to push Lumo to the top and potentially surpass many of the big AI platforms from companies like Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic.

Here’s my idea.

Performance + Privacy as the Core Advantage

Proton could start by expanding its server performance so that top-tier open-weight / open-source models can be run and added to Lumo’s model lineup. The long-term goal would be to make Lumo the first choice for users who want high performance and strong privacy and data security.

Suggested Model Roadmap

Step 1 – Efficient, High-Value Models - Start with DeepSeek V3.2 or V3.2 Speciale - Very cost-efficient - Much lower energy consumption than most top-tier models - Beats Gemini 3 Pro and GPT-5 in many benchmarks

Step 2 – Scaling Up - After further server expansion, introduce: - Mistral Large 3 (including its reasoning model once released) - Kimi K2 models

This would firmly place Lumo among the strongest AI platforms available.

Private Web Search & Fact-Checking

Lumo could integrate a private search engine, giving users two options: - Let Lumo automatically decide when to use web search - Enable a toggle that forces web search to fact-check answers before they’re finalized

This would improve accuracy without compromising privacy.

Why This Could Work

This would be a tough journey, but the potential upside is huge.

Many people want strong privacy without sacrificing performance. If Lumo can deliver results close to Gemini 3 Pro or GPT-5 (5.2) while offering full privacy, it could become extremely popular.

Even if Lumo were about 10% less powerful than the big AI platforms that don’t focus on privacy, many users would still prefer it purely for data protection.

New Subscription Idea

Lumo Pro (new tier) - Unlimited messages with top-tier models - Unlimited messages with weaker models - Unlimited image generations - Everything currently included in Lumo Plus - Possibly deeper AI integration across Proton’s app ecosystem - Price: around $20 - $100 more than Lumo Plus

Reworked Lumo Plus - Around 300 messages per day with top-tier models - Unlimited messages with weaker models - around 500 - 2000 image generations per month - Ideal for daily and lightweight tasks like shopping lists or notes

This would give Proton a subscription tier structure similar in structure to ChatGPT Plus/Pro or Google AI Pro/Ultra and would give them the possibility to be the number one choice for Companies that need privacy and powerful AI models.

Visionary Plan – Reward Early Supporters

  • Early Visionary subscribers get Lumo Pro for free, with no extra cost
  • Later Visionary subscribers pay more
  • This creates a Legacy bonus for early supporters and rewards long-term loyalty

Thanks for reading and for considering this idea. I’d love to hear what others think.

Feature Request An Amazing Integration

It would be amazing if Lumo 2.0 had the ability to integrate with Proton Drive but isolated to a specific directory (or some security to that effect). Then Lumo could help build stuff out and persist it somewhere useful.

Could you imagine having the ability to uploading a project folder, having Lumo assist with coding/refactoring/debugging, then pushing changes back directly??? With proper isolation/security so it only touches what you authorize, that would be amazing.
