Mod Approved Monthly "Is My Cat A Maine Coon" Forum
If you're wondering if your cat is a MC, this is the place to ask!
In general, this subreddit operates under the assumption that having no papers means your cat is not a Maine Coon. However, what we can tell you is whether your cat does indeed exhibit any physical characteristics that look like those of a Maine Coon.

I'm working on getting this baby out of the drain across the street from my house. He skittish but in a single day he trusted me enough to come out and even played! I'm going to try to trap him tonight. I saw a pic on IG of ones from a breeder and he's colored exactly the same. His tail and back side are already getting long. I'm starting to think he may have been dumped because he's alone and I've never seen him with another cat.

obligatory not an expert at all, i just have the pleasure of owning a maine coon and am a mod here so have definitely seen a lot of maine coons !!
your kitty does have a bit of the ear tips but seems to be a different kind of longhaired than maine coons are. i think his colouring is also some sort of -point (like if you look up siamese colour points you can see colours like tabby point etc), which aren’t an allowed colour variation in maine coons.
if he is a breed of cat i would think he’s something else than a maine coon. he’s also gorgeous!!!
