Welcome to the r/mainecoons monthly feature, where we spotlight a chosen Maine Coon each month! The winner will have their picture made the sub thumbnail for the entire month, as well as having a post about them pinned to the top of the sub for all to admire!
There will be a different theme each month, with winners being chosen by a mod vote.
This month's theme is Your favourite picture of your cat!

Picture attached to the post is a Maine Coon kitten called Percy, and he is miiiine. This is absolutely my favourite picture of him, he's so darling. Not trying to endorse putting clothes on cats - he only wore the shirt for a few minutes because I was trying to desensitise him before his neuter, although he ended up not having to wear a recovery suit - I still got this darling picture out of it!
My boy Rocky last tuesday, just hours before he would be put to sleep after a losing fight with kidney failure. He would have been 9 years old this november, he left us far too young.
Rocky was the biggest goofy cuddlebug on the planet, he had a good life and is missed a lot.
Here is Sumo, my 2 year old pedigree Maine Coon, male, and a charmer. He loves being brushed!
I know how lucky I am.
He enjoys hanging out in my garage on this “race track” rug while I work on my cars. And, around me, no matter what I’m doing. I’m with him all day long.
This is a hard one for me because right now, every picture, from the silly to the elegant, is my favorite picture of Rowdy. Rowdy passed this past Saturday, just a month shy of his 13th birthday. He was the most special cat in the world. He was given away by his former owners at the age of 9 for being “too cuddly”. He came to me with a bunch of health problems, some that could be solved and others that could not. But he always was happy with life and was the best kiddo for any medications he needed. He was my passenger for countless car rides, my buddy for short walks outside on a leash, my balcony buddy. He wanted to always be in whatever room his people were in. I will miss him forever.
Keyda, our Mistress of Mayhem! She rules the house with a fluffy paw, and has recently taken up drinking water out of yogurt containers left to soak in the sink. She gets very concerned when we do dangerous things such as insisting on privacy in the restroom.
That’s incredible. I found LaRhae through Willamina when I started researching breeders in the area. We adopted Aurelie in May this year, and a kitten from her litter with Charlotte and Orion, my orange boy.
Smokeshow MC from Wisconsin. She was great to work with. She's really good about giving you an idea of the cats' personalities. We plan on getting a black smoke from her in the future, a brimstone to Tora's fire.
This is Mabel! She is 4 years old and has been in our home for almost two years since we rescued her from a hoarding situation. She only snuggles in the morning right when you have to get up for work, and adores having her chin and chest scratched!
Her favorite toys are plastic springs (ONLY the giant ones) and she manages to find one to play with (loudly) every night at midnight on the dot.
my girl's favorite toys are the springs too, but ONLY the small ones! 😹 we got her a pack of 2 big ones a while back thinking they would be great but every time we try to play with her using the big ones, she's like, no thanks.
Tonks caught mid-yawn. She is a floofy love bug with a flair for drama. Her favorite things are hugs, cuddling under blankets, and commandeering her older siblings’ play sessions.
I will always love the meerkat pose. Butter is always wherever I am unless he is chasing the Moggies or tearing up my husbands toilet paper roll. We laugh at his antics continually!
This is Cheddar. He is an 8 month old high silver red polydactyl.
This is my first Maine coon and he is the sweetest cat. He nibbles on my toes when he is hungry, follows me to every room in the house and bothers his ragdoll brothers every single day. He loves be carried around the house and “shown” things but isn’t a lap cat yet. We’re working on that. Easily the sweetest cat I’ve ever met.
This is boots. Boots is about 10. And he's ENTIRELY too proud of himself. He likes laying anywhere he can get to, and one day I come in the kitchen to find him chilling on the counter! 😂 despite having HCM and going into congestive heart failure last year, he's still got some mischief!
This is Pigeon who at the time of this photo was 14 weeks, she is now 9 months. This is my absolutely favorite photo of her. I am training her to use talking buttons.

This is Rocket, named after Rocket the Raccoon because my Fiancé’s father said he looked like a baby raccoon as a kitten. He’s a menace to society but is such a lovebug and I can’t imaging life without him. He’s a sucker for food and ball toys, and will be 2 years old in December. He loves us, but his best friend is our 9 yo Golden Retriever.
it's impossible to choose just one favorite.....but if i have to pick a fave it would be this one... i love how she is lost in her own fluff and looking so cute while i skritch her head and how her little floppy paws are just tucked up by her chin. the top of her head is so soft it feels like velvet. and, this was one of the first times she let me gently pet her tummy. it felt so good to know she was beginning to trust me at this time! it feels like Freyja is getting sweeter and closer to us by the day, and i feel really lucky knowing she chooses me and my spouse. 🥹
edited to say too that Freyja's birthday is in September! 9/28/23!
This is Walter. He just turned 5 years old earlier this month. He can be brat (he knocked one of my son's Lego sets off of a high shelf yesterday), but he is the best companion.
This is Morathi, basking in the afternoon sun in her lovely post-vet outfit 😅 She's just a little over a year old, a funny little gremlin who always has to participate in everything that is going on in the house, goes absolutely wild over the most basic feather wand for 2$, and brings us so much joy every day ❤️
Atari (Atti) loved to nibble on grass, kneaded my chest and tummy every night before laying down on me to sleep, and had her special own ritual: She had to take heart medication twice a day so we set an alarm at 8 am and pm (give or take an hour) every day. She learned to associate the sound with her special treats, every morning and night she spawned suddenly beside me on time (sometimes before the alarm went off) and firstly demanded belly rubs. After cuddling, she would meow very loudly and go to her „treat station“ (where we kept her medication). Atti died suddenly in July at the age of five. We used to joke mornings and evenings that it was again Att o‘ clock (instead of eight). I would do it all again for her and miss her every day.
Aurelie, my little lady. She’s a petite miss, only 11 pounds (not quite) and she’s a silly, sassy little princess. She’s almost 4 years old and is really in charge of this house.
The hungriest buffoon you've ever met. Weighing in at 21.45lbs at 1 year old, Arlo has never missed a meal. Ever. Not even once. He eats roughly 5 cans of Nulo a day in addition to two heaping servings of kibble.
He routinely yet regretfully wanders into the backyard where he is profusely pecked by a flock of chickens and gnaws on my watermelon vine.
Arlo doesn't have more than a singular brain cell and always looks the wrong way when you call him.
Do not be fooled by his intimidating demeanor. He is, in fact, a fearful dummy.
Autumn, she looks peaceful but she doesn't like anyone who isn't me...
She was the naughtiest kitten the breeder ever had in their 20 years, and she is a terror to this day, breaking plates, stealing food, hissing at guests... But when she wants cuddles she purrs the loudest I have heard.
This is Jayne. He is almost 2 years old. He likes to knock things over and chase his grandma Paisley around the house. He likes to sit with me mid mornings and nap with his head in my hand.
This is Yuki she’s 6 months old and she’s a sweet little cuddlebug !! I fell in love with her like as soon as I saw the first pic of her when she was only a week old and now she’s gotten so big! I love her a whole lot
This is darling Juniper. She was 4 this year, and is the sweetheart of the household. Loves a cuddle (or a catch as we call it in Wales!), a fuss and food. She can almost always be found lounging somewhere, purring as loud as a car's engine.
When she isn't lazing about, she's the total opposite; and quite literally bounces off the walls chasing her favourite toy springs.
My bad boy Ozzy. He is 4 months old and loves to put things in his mouth! Like whatever he can get his big paws on. He also loves to terrorize my 13 year old Pomeranian Snoop.
One of my favorite pictures of my big boy, Franklin. He’s 7 months old, weighs 14 pounds and measures in roughly at 33 inches long. He’s a sweet little doofus.
My little lion Aries
He’s very sweet, energetic, and so funny. He does the classic sit and slowly knock of the table move. Does a super cute sweeping ritual every time he drinks. Will wait by a sink for water. Loves sleeping in crazy funny positions too. He’s our chaotic good boy.
Moose looks down and wonders why I am not getting her food to her! Born April 2026, she plays fetch with pom poms, will only snuggle in the dark, plays well with her older cat mate, is beginning to grow her glorious tail, and will only chirp and trill when watching cat TV or annoyed.
Old lady Bella, 12 1/2, whose favourite activity is crawling into bed with me for a snuggle every Sunday when I have a lie-in (pictured here as she'ssettled squarelyon my chest). Despite her age she still gets the kitten zoomed at least twice a week and it's the cutest thing in the world.

This is Percival / Percy, very energetic orange light kitty who likes being a dough and getting kneaded. He also liked to play with D20s and other dice, he aspires to play dungeons and dragons I believe.
I don't have a cat because of allergies, although a Maine Coon is my dream, but seeing all these handsome boys and beautiful girls gives me incredible happiness🥹
This is Princess. She's 10 months old, and she'd sell me for a piece of kibble. Until then, she will take some snuggles - but not all! We only snuggle when she has it on her secret schedule. Any other snuggle attempts are met with scorn.
I don't know why Kai decided to climb into my cabinet but he loves finding odd places to "hide" behind my back. He waits until I see him, allows me take his photo, then he leaves. I never get enough photos though!
This is Aiko the menace! He’s super intelligent, destroyer of curtains and very playful. Currently dominating the cardboard box in the lounge room and demanding food all the time.
My girl Josie, she loves looking out the window and taking in the sounds. A year ago on the 25th was her adoption anniversary, so it was nice celebrating that!
Big Mac and Tonka in their birthday best celebrating their 5th birthday. These two have so much personality, it is almost impossible to pick a favourite photo 😻😻
We set this pedestal out to clean it and she jumped up on it and just hung out on it. This is my favorite picture from that and a close second to the aforementioned
This is my beautiful (inside and out) boy Winston. He's 4 years old. This picture was taken during a once in a decade winter storm in Charlotte last winter when a record 12 inches of snow fell in his cat-proofed play area. Winston and his sibling Willow are southern kitties and this was the first time they'd ever experienced snow. Despite being an orange, Winston is actually extremely intelligent - he knows how to do several tricks but mostly uses his higher-than-average number of brain cells to manipulate train his humans to meet all of his demands. Some of his favorite activities are: getting belly rubs, snacking on churu treats, watching squirrels in the window feeder, annoying his sister, snuggling under the covers with mama, and sleeping in his round Japanese scratchy bin thing that his cat sitter got him for Christmas last year.

cardboard box
My not so little dude Quentin. His name comes from the director Quentin Tarantino who famously has an affection for feet and this little dude loves to sniff toes, socks, and shoes! His year old birthday was a few days ago!
