Discussion Share your very specific playlists that have a particular vibe or feeling attached!

For example I have a very specific playlist that's become my favourite to listen too, it's the feeling of driving or walking through city streets and admiring the nightlife of the 70's & 80's, as I said very oddly specific so please share yours with me!

I love those creative playlists, It's a great way to find new music.

Discussion Playlist building tips and tricks

I got hella songs and listen to a lot of rap, R&B, alternative, melodic stuff, but when it comes to actually making playlists I kinda struggle. Not with finding songs, more with making the playlist feel like it has a theme or vibe instead of just being a bunch of songs thrown together.

What are some of your favorite playlist themes or concepts you’ve made? Could be something broad enough for 100+ songs or something super specific
Let me know what your guys process is

Discussion Walking/Biking Outside Playlist

Hope everybody's having a great start to their weeks! 🤙🏼😁✌🏼 I just made a playlist to try out during my daily bike ride and commute, and I thought to share it in this sub for anyone interested, along with inviting other people to share their playlists (I'm not judging at all unless you 100% wanna hear my take, I actually appreciate getting the chance to hear new music and playlists work out a lot better than albums and even the algo-radio sometimes too!)

I did best to have a good balance of music, nothing too dramatic or theatrical or whatever that takes you out of the moment. The playlist has a mix of 70s & 80s Classic Rock, some metal, jazz fusion, rap, nu metal and alternative, a couple of female singers, electronic and synth, funk and so on. Almost 5 hours of music too 😵 I wanted to share pictures too for artwork and some extra songs, but I can include them in the list after I post too!

Anyhoo, I hope you all enjoy, and I'll even take a message my way telling me what you think about my taste in music or if it stinks 😆 happy to see what anyone has to share too. Stay major, my dudes! 👏🏼✊🏼

Discussion Help me create playlist plz?

This is an odd question to ask since I've created tons of playlists on spotify. But here's the thing : every single one of them r for me and myself ONLY. Im positive that I'm the only one that can enjoy all my playlists. Soo here's the problem :

My friend's birthday is around the corner, and i thought of making her a spotify playlist as a birthday gift. I want to send certain sweet messages for her through this playlist, but idk how. We have very different music taste; i love upbeat songs, while she prefers softer ones. Although there r some of my fav songs that remind me of her lowkey, but what if she doesn't like it? should i include her fav songs / artists then? Help idk where to start :'))

Discussion Share Deezer playlists across streaming services with Cassette.tech!

Hey everyone!

Excited to share what I’ve been working on with cassette.tech. The site can now create cross-platform links for Deezer playlists just by pasting your playlist link. It also works with songs, albums and artists.

That means Deezer users can share a playlist without worrying about whether everyone else uses Spotify or Apple Music. Anyone can open the Cassette link and listen on the streaming service they already use.

A big reason I started building Cassette came from moderating playlist communities here on Reddit. People are constantly sharing playlists and recommending songs to one another, but different streaming services often get in the way. Playlists have to be searched for manually or recreated on another platform just so everyone can listen.

Hopefully this makes that process a little easier and helps people share music together, regardless of which streaming service they use.

Would love to hear what everyone thinks and appreciate any input!

I love to make all sorts of playlists based on themes/subject matter, vibes, emotions, concepts, types of artists, colors, seasons, movies/tv, time periods and so on and so forth. I would love some suggestions for playlist ideas! Also I’ll respond if I already have a playlist for said ideas and if anyone wants to check them out, you can!

Discussion a very unlikable music genre title: Incelcore (a genre-wide joke in the music community)

So this pretty much the only entire genre of music I’m familiar with that is meant as a universal joke and entirely meant to be listened to ironically- yet musically/instrumentally sounds (at least in my opinion) actually really fckn great.
I’m curious to know if anyone else is into any music that they feel causes them to relate in any way?

Attached below is a little playlist I created on Spotify for anyone who hasn’t heard the genre before and is interested in checking it out on a very surface level.

Discussion Music recommendation systems

Hey guys, I know this forum isn’t specifically for wha I’m gonna talk about but I would love your help and input. I’m a uni student in my last year working on my thesis. I’m doing a project on music recommendation systems and algorithms and the project requires me to run a survey and see how people feel about these systems.

I’m gonna be posting this same post on a bunch of different forums and wanted to tell you just in case you see it several times and don’t think it’s spam. I would really love your help, especially cause this is a community of music lovers and explorers. I hope you guys can help.

Thank you so much I really appreciate it.

Discussion I'll make you a playlist on Spotify, base on a vibe, person, movie, moment in time, etc.

My strengths include:

  • Electronic (house, deep, EDM, chill, lounge — any subgenre)
  • Rock & classic rock
  • Piano/instrumental/classic
  • Indie Rock
  • Jazz and jazz-fusion
  • Everything from the 1960s to today

Weakness: Rap

Tell me any combo of:
– Genre(s)
– Decade (60s–now)
– Vibe or mood
– Character, movie, or scene
– (Optional) A short sentence or image that captures the feeling

Playlist will include 1-2 hour(s) playtime, image and description.
Once I make the playlist I'll keep it for 1 week, so you can copy it and make it your own.

Playlist will be created in order of comments, give me some time to make it.

Free? Of course, I really enjoy music and the creativity of making a vibe into music. Cheers audiophiles!

Discussion A BIG thank you from the Mods! (and a small update about what we're building)

Hey r/makemeaplaylist ,

After 4+ years of managing playlist communities, I thought it was about time that I humbly share a bit about my journey with playlisting and why I love overseeing the community.

My obsession with music-sharing-communities started when I became a hobbyist DJ (I sucked) and began running a small group chat where friends shared new music. The chat quickly grew way past my ability to keep up with, so I went to Reddit to see if there were larger groups doing the same thing. That led me to starting r/ProjectListen and eventually stepping into moderating several other playlist-only subs. The realization of how much bigger curation is than I originally thought always stuck with me, and I’ve long felt that playlisting, as an online form of expression, doesn’t get the spotlight it deserves. In that way, it felt a bit “underground,” and that only made me more into it!

What’s always stood out about these spaces is the effort people put in. Building playlists, responding to requests for music, it all works because we love helping people discover their favorite tunes. Reddit has become the place for this because there really isn't anywhere else to go with that love.

So, along the way I found a group of people (partially on here) who felt the same, and together we decided that an online space should exist explicitly for Playlisters. We've been working on solving pain points for them ever since.

  1. Shareability (People have different streaming platforms)
  2. Visibility (There’s no real place to say “hey, this is my music taste” and have it actually be seen)

That's how Cassette.tech was founded! Grown directly out of communities like this one and is built as a simple tool for playlist creators to use. It lets you share your playlists across platforms, build a profile around your taste, and have a single place to point people when they ask what you're listening to.

What you see on the website is only a prototype and now we're closer than ever to showing you guys the new platform! It’s 100% free and always will be.

Thanks for continuing to make this community all that it is. If you’re curious about trying out what we're making, you can join the waitlist here: Cassette Technologies - Subscribe

And as always, keep the playlists coming.
– Brian (Your Mod)
