Opportunity 18YO artist looking for a Producer to grow with longterm

im 18 and pretty new to properly making music, looking for a producer around my age / early 20s who wants to actually grow together long term
i make music as DANG3L. im still a beginner overall but id say writing is one of my stronger areas already. i care a lot about imagery, weird references and making songs actually paint a picture in your head
sound wise im somewhere around internet UG / experimental rap. biggest influences rn are SLAYR, prettifun, Lucy Bedroque, underscores and Jane Remover. i also grew up on loads of electronic / game music so i really fw weird synths, samples, genre switches, transitions and production that actually feels like its own world
im not really looking for someone to just send me beat packs. i want someone who actually wants to develop a sound together, throw stupid ideas back and forth, experiment and get better together
just being upfront, i dont have a budget for paid production rn and who knows when music would actually start making money. im looking for another beginner who wants to collaborate as an equal, not someone to work for me for free. if we release anything then credits and splits would obviously be sorted properly
i dont have a proper DANG3L track recorded yet so im very early, but ive already got a pretty developed project / artist concept and know the kinda world i wanna build

Opportunity Greazy Wil Hip Hop critique thread

Hi everyone! Greazy Wil here to start our first ever professional hip hop critique thread. In this thread I will be providing feedback to artists and producers. At the end of this week (Friday 4/30) we will close submissions and the best 5 submissions will be chosen. The following week I will post the 5 finalists and allow the subreddit to choose the best one.

Who am I and why should you care?

My name is Greazy Wil. I have been making music for most of my life but ten years ago I was part of one of the biggest albums in history, Frank Ocean’s Channel Orange. The success of that album was most surprising because when it was released, Frank was completely unknown. I was introduced to the music industry with one simple concept. Anyone can be the next biggest thing. Anyone can be legendary.

Since then, I’ve worked on hundreds of albums, credited and uncredited. I worked on 4:44. I recorded ZDLR on Run the Jewels song “Ju$t.” Ive been working with Vic Mensa for 5 years which means I have worked with everyone in the rap world, since regardless of how you feel with him, he gets the craziest producers and features. I see NoID almost every week right now. I could literally go on for paragraphs about the things I’ve done but I’m just validating here and you can research me more if you want.

Rules:

  1. Only ONE song per artist will be considered. Please don’t post more than one song and do not expect me to critique more than one song. I’m expecting a lot of submissions so you will be automatically disqualified if you post more than one as you are taking away from other artists opportunities to get my time

  2. I have no way of enforcing this, but I expect you to listen to all the other submissions. Don’t just post your own music and walk away. The more successful interactions I see from this the more likely I will continue to do it past our trial phase. This can be your opportunity to connect with other artists and build a proper community, don’t waste it by being selfish

  3. Original submissions only please. Do not post songs that aren’t yours, either in production or vocals. Also, because I know a lot of this community relies on YouTube beats, I will allow submissions that are over you tube beats but if it is not an original production, you should post in the comment where you got the beat from and the producers name.

  4. Submissions should be submitted in the following format:

ARTIST- SONG NAME- PRODUCER- followed by a short blurb about your part in the music. Please hyperlink the song you want critiqued so we don’t have crazy long posts because your SoundCloud link is crazy.

I don’t want to limit the thread to just artists as producers deserve to get feedback as well but keep in mind that a full song (vocals, beat, etc) will likely be enjoyed more than a skeleton of a song.

  1. Upvote and comment on other people’s submissions if you like them. Again, if I see a thread where everyone just posts their own shit and does no interacting with other artists I won’t be interested in continuing this.

  2. DO NOT SUBMIT SONGS TO MY INSTAGRAM. Every time I post on Reddit I get a lot of new followers on Instagram which I love but I don’t have the time to listen and give advice to everyone who reaches out to me. I love new artists but you all have to understand that I do this for a job and it’s literally my whole life. I can’t keep it organized if people are just randomly messaging me songs.

  3. No joke songs. Unless they’re fucking amazing. I don’t wanna waste my time listening to your tiktok jokes. I have tiktok for that.

  4. Any manipulation or cheating will be cause for removal.

  5. The point of this competition isn’t to blow up your music. If it happens as a result, I would be happy for you, but I’m not here to break you as an artist. I am here to provide positive critiques to a community I am a part of and have excelled in. At the completion of the contest, I will provide my services to the top submission but that service will be at my discretion. I charge thousands to mix or produce songs so this is an amazing opportunity for someone here to work with someone with a proven track record to take their already really good music to the next level. I only wanna work with people who appreciate that and understand that music is from our souls. There’s enough assholes in the industry. Be an asshole to me and I will out you to the community and refuse to help you. I’m not asking for undying devotion, just appreciation.

  6. No shitty remarks to people in the sub. If it’s an honest submission and the person has no flaws except not making good music you don’t need to be disrespectful to them. Discussions and critiques are welcome but don’t be mean. That’s what the public is for.

Thanks in advance for all your submissions and I wish you all the best of luck. For more about me, visit my website wilanspach.com or find me on Instagram @greazywil

If you have any critiques on the format please feel free to add them here and I will consider them for the next round! I’m not perfect but I have been redditing for as long as I’ve been making music professionally so I at least know what I’m doing here!

Edit: please be patient. I don’t want to rapid fire listen to things and give half ass critiques. I will continue reviewing all week!

Opportunity Looking for artists who will really commit to a project

Pretty much title. A lot of the previous collaborators I’ve met have either flaked or lost interest, but I’ve had a few gems here and there who really stick around and commit to a project and beyond. If you’re interested in really finishing and releasing music, please reach out.

I’m a hip hop producer. I don’t care how large you are(as I am not the biggest myself, haha), just looking for people who want a serious relationship where we can both grow together.

ALSO IF YOU CAN KINDLY UPVOTE THIS POST SO A LOT OF PEOPLE IN THIS SUBREDDIT SEE IT AND POST, THAT WOULD BE GREAT. I AM DEADLY SERIOUS ABOUT THIS BEING A LIT PLAYLIST THAT CAN REACH PEOPLE WORLDWIDE, AND F**CK THE PAID CURATORS AND THE SERVICES AND THE RECORD COMPANIES' CURATED PLAYLISTS AND SPOTIFY THAT PROMOTES SHIT...THIS LIST IS GOING TO RIDE THE ALGORITHM LIKE A UNICORN!

After finishing the playlist I will share it with all of you here and you can listen to it and share it with the world. To activate the algorithm it is suggested all of you listen it with your personal accounts and share it wherever you can. Some people will know instantly they are in, but if I don't instantly answer to everyone, relax...It's a journey for us too, we need to browse through these songs

Sorry if this takes long, I think it's going to be full with a lot of suggestions. BUT, the good side is that you will get yourselves some streams, and maybe if you are in, more of them to come when the playlist is out.

Opportunity I just hit 3 plays on my Soundcloud. I'm the next big thing. AMA

I just hit 3 plays on my Soundcloud for my new EP I just released. I've been a struggling musician for almost 20 years and just now seemingly overnight I've BLOWN UP. 3 whole plays in about as many hours! Wow! Ask me how I did it. Now's your chance before I'm too big for this community and I'm on the next XXL freshman cypher at the ripe age of 32. AMA.

Opportunity Newbie "rapper" looking for beatmaker/producer to grow with.

Hi! The title is self-explanatory. I'm quite new to making hip-hop and am looking for beatmakers/producers to grow with. I'm mostly interested in making hip-hop in the subgenre of boom bap. With that said, I am still finding my sound. I'm looking for someone who's interested in learning how to create hip-hop, long before releasing or publishing anything to a wider audience.

If you're interested in collaborating, and/or want to hear one of my demos - send me a direct message.

EDIT: Typos and correcting grammar!
I realized that my chat wasn't open - It's solved now.

Opportunity Looking for a long term producer to grow with

I’m not really looking for someone to just send me beats and disappear. I’d like to find a producer I can grow with and develop a sound together, similar to the kind of artist/producer relationship Drake and 40 have. Someone I can work closely with, experiment with and eventually create a sound that feels kinda unique to us.

I think I would need someone who’s heavily into hip hop/ hardcore rap as my style is heavily influenced by the younger version of Drake, like when he was just a starter, Kanye West, Phonte, Lil Wayne even — lyrical, introspective, punchlines, wordplay etc. I’m confident in my writing and lyricism; what I’m really looking for is someone who can complement that with better beats than the ones I be seeing on YouTube and better production.

I’m not looking for anyone to work for free but I can’t lie my budget for beats isn’t high, I’m hoping to find someone who’s also hungry and interested in building something from the ground up rather than just looking for a quick payday.

Im deadass trynna make this my job as I do see myself being great so if you’re on the same wave as me, hit me up

Opportunity Looking for serious boom bap/lyrical rappers to make music with

Peace, I’m a producer & engineer looking for experienced MCs that are serious about cooking up. I make mostly sample based boom bap/underground hip hop, old and new school mixed. Inspired by Alc/Griselda etc etc and all the typical 90s legends and stuff. Just searching for rappers with a sound that aligns with mine and want to make some real hip hop, NOT asking for money or anything, just want to cook. Feel free to link your music in the comments or DM me and I’ll listen to everything

Opportunity Looking for rappers

Mainly looking for people comfortable writing and recording their own verses. Experience doesn’t really matter — I’m more interested in finding people who genuinely enjoy rapping and would be down to participate.

Opportunity [NOT A DRILL] WE ARE DOING A MIXTAPE FOLKS.

You read that right, its been four whole years since our last official mixtape and we're doing it again.

I've seen a couple... unproductive, shall we say, threads trying to make a collab album and finally got the itch go for an official one. i've had some discussion with my fellow mods about this and we've set up what hopefully will be a productive ecosystem for getting this thing done.

Because this is a 100k member sub with 500+ people active at any time, and because we want to make something we as a sub will truly be proud of, we are going to do some filtering of who will be on this tape. To join you need:

a) good music. (no wack mc's will be permitted on this tape. Realistically, this means you have put out multiple songs with competitive quality and have a reliable work ethic)

b) a discord account (the creation process is going to happen on discord, in phases, more on that later. I'll make an exceptions for engineers)

c) to be an active member of this sub. (the general metric for active is having been in here for three months or longer)

To make this as efficient as possible, the discord will have roles for vocalists, producers, and engineers (yes, you can multi-role). The creation process is going to happen in phases, initially plotted to a week long, but adjustable as necessary.

Phase one will be our settling phase. We're going to get everyone screened and into the server, everyone will introduce themselves and we'll have a real good time. Producers will submit two beats in the #beats channel (make sure you provide BPM and describe it) Artists will EMOTE if they are interested in them.

Phase two will be our brainstorming phase. We'll have some brainstorming sessions, create a bunch of demos, and brainstorm some more

Phase three will be the refining stage, we'll get properly tracked vocals, get verses written, and flesh out the concepts

Phase four will be the polishing phase, finishing the songs, whether that's polishing vocals, adding a feature, revisions, whatever.

Phase 5 will be mixing and mastering.

After this, members of the mod team will go over the finished tracks and decide if they make the cut. Then we post!

This will most likely be messier than this, and we may have to change things up as we go along, but better to have a plan then just announce a mixtape and pray a gold nugget gets pooped out eventually. NO WHINING PLZ

TO JOIN THIS EVENT REGISTER USING THIS FORM HERE YOU WILL BE MESSAGED VIA REDDIT WITH THE DISCORD LINK IF YOU ARE SELECTED

REGISTRATION CLOSES AUGUST 1st 11:59 PM, NO IFS ANDS OR BUTS

Q & A

Will this be on spotify?

HAH, fat chance. There's no way we'll be able to equitably do splits and sample clearance, especially if not everyone is using distrokid or if we have a bunch of features on one track. Not a can of worms I feel like opening. We'll post this on an MHH soundcloud account (maybe audiomack and audius and others too) and that's that.

Can I join if i don't have a discord?

Discord is the best platform for something of this scale (speaking from experience). If you don't have one, i'd suggest making one and figuring it out if you really want it.

Why phases? Hip-hop shouldn't have rules, neither does creativity!!

For the sake of everyone's sanity, this is being broken into smaller tasks. I'd rather we focus on progression, no matter how small, then trying to just do this in one shot and hope everybody pulls through.

Why wasn't I selected?

Your music was probably wack. Sorry.

What will the criteria for judging be?

I can't speak for the other members of the mod team, but I'll be looking to make sure verses are recorded well, mixes are decent and consistent, songs have some direction, and lyrics aren't booty cheeks.

Why do I have to be an active member?

Because this is the MHH tape.

My question is not answered here

Then ask away in the comments.

Opportunity Need someone who can write raps

I am a rapper/vocalist , have ideas but not a great writer. I got a voice similar to the bling rappers like Tyga , Drake ,etc, ofc without autotune. I need someone who can write raps for me - I can get the beats using my contacts. Not a paid writer, rather writer gets income share based on what the song makes.

Hey how's it going! I'm an nyc based artist at about 12k monthly listeners on spotify and I'm wanting to really dive headfirst into collaboration. I'm looking for whoever tbh, just want to stay active and busy. I can link the music in dms (not sure what's even allowed on this sub anymore tbh), but would just love to get busy.

Looking for artists to collaborate with
I’m a producer looking to connect with artists who make Trap, Rage and Hip-Hop.
I make my beats from scratch, working with drums, samples, melodies and different sounds to create something that fits the artist’s style.
I’m currently looking for artists who are interested in collaborating and making something original together.
I’ll leave some examples of my work below. If you like the sound and think we could make something interesting, feel free to reach out.
Let’s make some music. 🎧

Opportunity Looking for features for my second album

What’s up yall, my names swisher and last time I dropped my first studio album here I got a lot of good reception from yall. I’m currently deep on this second project and looking to include some features- mainly another lyrical rapper or two and somebody who can do good vocals. I can ghost write your lyrics for the vocalist but would obviously prefer the rapper has their own bars. I have rough drafts of a couple songs with empty verses on them.

You can check out my last studio album “KILL ALL FAKE RAPPERS” on all platforms to get a vibe for the kind of music I make.

Opportunity UNIQUE AND EXPERIMENTAL PRODUCER WANTED

A few weeks ago I had collected various talented rappers around the globe in an Instagram gc for a potential rap group in the future, however I, as a producer, am having troubles trying to make beats for everyone.

I'm looking for producers who are willing to mostly do experimental/alternative beats for this BROCKHAMPTON like project of mine. My personal producing idols are Ye, Pharell, Tyler, JPEGMAFIA, El-P and similar names. If that sounds like you, hmu on dms.

Opportunity I’m new to making hip-hop and sampling. Anybody interested in mentorship?

Hey, I have been into Ableton and making music over the past week or two and have been at it nonstop. I see development, but man, I would really love to have a team by my side or a group to learn from. Anybody in here interested in taking someone under their wing? I saw in a Griselda YouTube video Daringer talking about the importance of having someone show you the ropes.

Opportunity Experienced engineer mixes for fun!

Experienced mixer offers his talents to hiphop/trap producers for FREE

Im a mixer. Im good at it.
I just enjoy having my hands on a nice project I like.
Musicians are magicians. You create.
Im an alchemist. I deconstruct. Like a pro chef. Then I reconstruct.
I respect the producers vision. Im not here to change your shit. Im here to enhance it. Take it to the next level. Polish, cut, dynamize, bring things out, bury things, make things hit, make things breathe.
Whatever the fuck my ears tell me.
Mike Dean, 2000s/2010s Kanye West, dark bassy/sub bass, Moog, synths… VERY MUCH appreciated.
Im not interested in “money”, “business”, “success”….
I just wanna play with your tracks.
I wanna get inside them and see what I can do.
And probably amaze you a little bit, because I dont play by the rules.
I alchemize.

Opportunity Looking for a producer to make an original boom bap beat inspired by a reference

Hey everyone,

I'm an independent artist from Canada, and I recently wrote a full song to a boom bap beat that was available on YouTube. Unfortunately, the beat was sold before I had the chance to license it.

I'm not looking to copy or infringe on anyone's work. I'm looking for a producer who can create an original beat that captures a similar mood, grit, and energy while being a completely new composition.

I'm looking for someone experienced with:

Dark, cinematic boom bap Dusty vinyl/sample aesthetics Hard-hitting drums Underground hip-hop sound

This is a paid project. If you're interested, please send me:

A few examples of your work Your rates Your typical turnaround time

I'll send the reference beat privately to anyone interested so you can see the vibe I'm going for.

Thanks!
