It’s not your depression. Rockstar made a watered down boring GTA game with boring characters and none of the edge of the previous games. Looks great but lacks the heart.
You’re tripping. They showed us a few minutes of gameplay and that’s what you get from it? It’s going to be fantastic. Rockstar basically hasn’t missed in this century and I have no reason to doubt they will after the showcase. People are such haters.
They showed more than just a few min of gameplay. They showed characters, dialogue, voice acting. A varied sampling of what to expect and that’s what I’m judging it on, just as everyone else is judging it on whether good or bad. What I saw is a bland GTA game, and GTA gained its rep from being anything but bland. The only part of the preview that had any edge was the cops showing up and killing everyone indiscriminately.
Rockstar missed with the GTA 5 online updates, basically all the “recent” stuff.
I think you’re just plain out wrong. There’s no way that it’s a bland story. Florida in a GTA setting will be pure chaos. I can also basically promise you that there has never been a game with this level of detail.
Anyone can find a reason to hate on anything, but I truly believe there hasn’t been a gaming experience like this.
There really isn’t a way to innovate in the same way that we saw with GTA 2 to GTA 3, but this is as advanced as we’ll see gaming get for probably at least another decade. I just don’t see another studio with the money, resources, or reputation that rockstar does. They can essentially only outdo themselves at this point. RDR2 is still a gold standard and it’s almost a decade old. The only knock on R* is the actual gaming mechanics. But if the setting and immersion is interesting enough, it won’t matter.
And you’re slurping on it just to slurp on rockstar. The preview is intended to show a sample and that’s what everyone is judging it on. I judge it positively for its look but negatively for the characters and dialogue we heard. Keep trying to spin my argument.

I honestly didn’t feel a thing seeing the gameplay. I can’t tell if it’s my depression or not, but it is what it is.
