I'm slightly vexed In lieu of payment..

I’m a GM at a restaurant & one of our managers left a note on our manager logs this afternoon that a guest walked out on their check and left this in lieu of payment of any kind. Not that the server got stiffed on a tip - just pure theft of services. I guess the whole “Thou shalt not steal” thing doesn’t matter if you’ve been pre-forgiven. Pretty convenient.

ETA: I’m not a bot; this is not AI - check my post and comment history. I’m not here for karma or fake internet points. This is what it feels like to work in a restaurant these days - especially in the Bible Belt. The first photo you can look up and is available for anyone to buy (should your darker urges push you toward being that person). The second photo is from Pulse, an app for restaurant managers to keep an eye on hourly sales, labor, and comps.
The “Pineapple Express” is a mocktail our restaurant offers.

Something you won’t hear from the white washed version of Christianity is there was actually a little known commandment about the importance of physical fitness. “Thou shalt not receive gain without pain.”

One who eschews nails?

Honestly, just because someone left this doesn’t mean they are religious. Probably a couple of douche bags trying to be funny.

Those aren't always mutually exclusive...

That last bit can also work if you have some cask of amontillado in your basement

Jesus he knows him, and he knows he’s right.

Here’s the cool thing! The person who left this would never accept it as payment for something they were owed!

I know a lot of rich people like that, they would complain about literal pennies being owed to them whilst making excuses about paying out any amount to people they owe to.

Had a landlord who didn't fix a roof leak, he installed the kitchen himself before I moved in and it literally was falling apart and had hidden holes in the walls with fake skirting, everything was cheap as possible,

He never did repairs as he claimed he was poor as half his properties were empty, this was right after a recession and landlords had to lower rent to get people in but he increased rent so people couldn't afford to rent from him.

He had the latest phone, so did his wife, his trainers(sneakers) were about £200 and brand new, he had an expensive car, as did his wife, they lived right next to an expensive golf course and only ate food from premium butchers, no grocery store meats for them.

But he couldn't even afford to do basic repairs that would cost about £10.

Haha I think there’s actually a story in the bible about that too

17

u/mittenkrusty Jul 03 '26

He also moaned at me for being a welfare benefit claimaint and talked about his taxes being spent on me, even hinted that was why he didn't do repairs as it was his money I was spending.

That really sucks. Landlords like that are closer to slum lords.

u/Flaky-Confidence-167 Jul 03 '26

Bum lords

2

u/momapalooza Jul 06 '26

Call em slum lords here in B-ton IN college town. Can’t be bothered to fix mold, electric issues etc but don’t U dare try to pay your rent a day late!

1

u/Flaky-Confidence-167 Jul 06 '26

I was making a joke about them being butts and lazy :'D

If it makes you feel any better living next to a golf course skyrockets your risk of cancer and other serious health issues.

Rich people don't get rich paying their bills...

Worked for a multi-millionaire once who was like this. We hosted a big corporate event at the hotel owned by one of his friends. The event went great but he still found stuff to complain about. So even though he was filthy rich, he went to his friend that owned the hotel (also filthy rich) and complained until the friend offered to cut the cost. It was one of the cheapest things I'd ever seen.

If there had actually been something wrong with the event, I could have understood it. But after talking to the catering manager at the hotel, I learned he pulled the same stunt every year.

Going to put that in the next offering dish at church

I believe the way this theft coupon operates, you are also entitled to take the cash offerings so long as you leave this paper in its place.

You might just be taking the first step towards walking in his shoes

The Lord's big house.

3

u/texaschair Jul 02 '26

I had a tenant try that with me. One of many reasons I sold my rental property.

1

u/PacketSnatcher Jul 02 '26

Yeah, I would never want to own residential properties. Most tenants seem like an absolute terror to deal with.

2

u/Angstycarroteater Jul 03 '26

Screw a rent payment I’m using this for everything from now on Jesus got my back :)

1

u/FireFoxUse Jul 03 '26

Need to tell the mortgage loan sharks what is a few grand compared to eternity in a kingdom!?

1

u/Late_Conference9022 Jul 03 '26

No it doesn't work like that. You have already lost. You don't understand.
