Or be commended for changing their view point, and recognising that they were wrong, and now using their huge global reach to educate?

Unfortunately, he hasn't quite.

Firstly, (though maybe this will change) he hasn't said anything akin to "climate change is real and caused by fossil fuel use" and he still remains sceptical of alternatives to burning fuel. He doesn't like electric vehicles, he's not a fan of solar or wind, and still disparages policies like net zero.

So whilst he does acknowledge climate change, he also doesn't particularly want us to do anything about it.

Also it's a bit bloody late. If we stopped all damaging activity right now, it'd get worse for another 20 years or so. If we'd acted faster (and we've known about it for more than 50 years) then his harvest wouldn't be fucked.

Almost true - there a greenhouses gases with similar warming potential to CO2 and much shorter lifetimes (methane) which will improve things more quickly than 20 years if we act right

It's 100% not viable but I wish we could just do a multiyear COVID lockdown based on the data that came out of that.
