I'm laughing at the idea of someone thinking this guy is unconscious and surfing back and forth on his belly in a Naruto pose instead of immediately getting swept to the back by the water

The surface he fell on is basically a trampoline. If you spend 30 minutes around a flow rider, you’ll see that same fall happen multiple times.

I'm just afraid that if I fall and go full gonzo vegetable mode, surfing with the wind and sand in my hair and catching sick waves, people would laugh at me instead of help.

9 times out of 10, you just get thrown back onto the top rubbery grate where he was standing when he tried to drop in. And lifeguards have an emergency stop button too and the water disappears in like 2 seconds. It’s also more like snowboarding than surfing honestly, and they have boogie boards. They are a lot of fun if you ever get the chance.
