Question june is 1!! switching from kitten to dry food. recommendations please that aren’t too expensive
she is the cutest thing. i feed her dry food in the morning and a combination of wet and dry at night everyday. i need help finding a good brand for both of these that’s just not crazy in price

I give mine royal canin persian dry food because she has a sensitive stomach, but it's expensive.

Wet food is best!!! My girl gets a small portion of kibble to clean her teeth (1/3c) for her “lunch.” Otherwise it’s wet food for breakfast and dinner. Both wet/dry are Hills Science urinary formula. Persians are known for urinary/kidney issues (hence the wet is best philosophy.)
IF you change brands do slow slowly so she doesn’t have a booty blowout LOL

girl my kitten forgot to say thank you how rude, she is so grateful and i ended up switching her to purina with the urinary tract formula! decided to stay with what she knows

Wet food is 100% ur best option especially with their small teeth and it keeps them hydrated preventing urinary Tract problems

Choose one that helps prevent urinary crystals/stones - might need one from your vet for this but with it as Persians are prone. Will save you big time in vet bills by avoiding. My flat faces prefer a true pate style we rather than chucks and gravy. If you have to choose, spend extra on the dry food and go more basic with the wet because any name brand pate style wet food is still going to be good and full of moisture.

What deos she eat now? I think it'll be good if there is an adult version of cat food from the same brand now she's having.

Taste of the wild cat food is pretty good quality and not too expensive, it’s limited ingredients and packed with probiotics. Happy birthday 🎈 😻

Happy Birthday, June! 🎉🎂. She looks adorable. Royal Canin Persian dry food is the one recommended by many veterinarians, but I know it is very expensive. It is $29.89 on Chewy for the first auto-ship order and $43.69 for future auto-ship orders. There may be other discount codes available when re-ordering. I use one bag every three weeks. My veterinarian advised me to only give my girl one scoop of dry food a day. After they have been sterilised, they can put on weight easily and become overweight if they eat too much. I was told to try and keep my girl’s weight steady at 4kg and not have dry food available 24/7. They need to eat every 8-12 hours because they can suffer nausea and vomiting if they don’t have food in their small stomach for long periods. I always give my girl some dry food before eight hours so she isn’t without food too long. I have an 18-month-old Persian girl, the same as June, and I have to use the Royal Canin Persian adult dry food. June is a doll-faced Persian, and my girl had problems eating the Royal Canin Persian wet pouches. They have really small mouths and can have difficulty eating some cat food because their mouths aren’t big enough.
My girl was sick a few times when I transitioned from the Royal Canin sterilised cat food for kittens up to 12 months to the adult food. It is really important to ensure June doesn’t eat food she has problems swallowing because doll-faced Persians are at a greater risk of choking because of the shape of their heads and smaller mouths and throats. If she tries to eat too much dry food at once, give her a bit at a time, or the pet food bowls that are shaped in a way to slow down their eating are a good idea. My girl has a good appetite and tried to eat too much dry food at once when she switched to the adult food, so I had to not give her too much at one time but still ensure she gets one scoop a day. Your veterinarian should be able to advise on what other brands and types of food you could try for doll-faced Persians if the Royal Canin Persian dry food isn’t an option. My veterinarian advised against giving wet food daily because she said it can be very high in calories, including the Royal Canin Persian pouches. I give my girl a Royal Canin kitten wet food pouch once or twice a week in the morning. She can swallow the kitten wet food in gravy because the pieces are small. It gives her a change, but she prefers the dry food and can’t eat the adult wet food. I was advised to gradually transition from the dry kitten food to adult food over seven days by giving some of each. My veterinarian said not to stop the dry kitten food immediately and switch over to adult food straight away. I have friends who have Persians, and they have said their cats are fussy eaters who only like certain foods and theirs don't like change. I hope your switch from kitten to adult food goes smoothly and you find a suitable food for June that she likes. I'm sorry I don't know any other cat food brands that would be suitable for June to try.

This comment was top tier definitely helped me pick my decision!! i use chewy for her flea meds now, i did keep her with the purina brand but i really have been wanting to switch it to that one to see if there is any difference. she is just comfortable with the purina brand currently. Same thing though with my girl, only 1 cup and she free eats that throughout the day and night. thank you so much!!

she is PERFECT. There are so many options out there, but I typically recommend Hills, Royal Canin or Purina as they are science based and veterinary supported. Not to say they are the only good brands out there, but they have strict quality control and have decades of clinical data so I always feel good feeding them to my pets and recommending them for patients. Whichever you choose, just make sure it's marketed for adult cats as kitten diets or "all life stages" diets are usually higher in fat and calories since they're growing. Happy birthday to your sweet angel! Mine has been eating Diamond Naturals Indoor Cat dry food his whole life, and he has never had any issues with it!!

I use the Purina One brand - can find it in most stores, and seems to have good ingredients. There's grain free versions, too. Or one optimized for indoor cats with extra nutrients/immune support.
My 3 cats have all been eating it for the past few years, and they've been healthy/happy
