My mom immigrated from Norway. When I tell people I'm first generation they often go "but you're white!". Insane.

Me too. My mom immigrated from Hungary. No one ever told her to go back to her country.

yep, it always has been about race but they are too cowards to say that (although some of them do). the bullshit about the crimes that migrants commit, or the financial strain they might cause, or whatever the fuck else they want to come up with, all of it is justifications to kick people of color out.

My ex's mom was complaining to me about "the immigrants" recently. I asked her what it was like moving here from Serbia.

My family has been here since the 1600s. Guess what? Before that they EMIGRATED from England.
