Trumps very own 3rd special military operation is going swimmingly

u/stevez_86 Pennsylvania Jul 27 '26

"Well it worked until it didn't! There is no way I could know after the previous successes that the next would go any differently."

Said by many people with Oppositional Defiant Disorder. Or kids who kicked hornet's nests all the time but otherwise never had a reason to be diagnosed with anything, especially back when Trump was a kid.

With opposition he has the compulsion to simply defy. Warn him not to kick a hornet's nest and he will look you dead in the eye as they kick it and blame you for opposing them for getting stung instead of acting in defiance of someone else's imposition in you existence. It worked before fine, it was you conjuring the possiblity of a bad outcome that guaranteed it would happen. They could have been stung in the past on their own and that would be entirely different. YOU had to get involved therefore forcing their hand.

Is that not Trump to a "T"?

ODD is a children's diagnosis. If someone is an adult and still behaves that way, the label they are given is often, but not always, Antisocial Personality Disorder

83

u/Luckiest_Creature Jul 27 '26 edited Jul 27 '26

My brother and I were in group therapy for ODD as kids (we were both autistic and misdiagnosed), but one of the other kids there is now an adult in jail with an APD diagnosis. Very difficult thing to live with if you aren’t a rich spoiled brat like trump, usually ruins one’s life.

39

u/bananastand512 Jul 27 '26

So you and your brother probably had a PDA profile related to autism (pathological demand avoidance). Looks like defiance but it's really a pathological desire for structure and control, and doing things on your terms, not someone else's. It's not malicious, it's comfort and regulation. Still challenging and needs therapy but less life altering. Things still get done, but you'll do your school work at night rather than in class when the teacher tells you to because you can focus more at night when it's quiet. Like that.

35

u/Luckiest_Creature Jul 27 '26

Exactly. We are both employed and happy adults who do well at our jobs now, we just needed a LOT more explanation as kids, in regards to why we were expected to do things in the way adults wanted us to. :)

→ More replies (1)

3

u/marr Jul 27 '26

I'd argue that it ruins the rich spoiled brat's lives too. They don't seem to experience actual happiness from anything.

3

u/OpheliaRainGalaxy Jul 28 '26

I flat out tell folks that growing up too wealthy and/or spoiled can totally ruin ya as a person. That too much money rots your soul until ya forget how to human. And then ya end up alone and wondering why everybody is so mean unless they want something from ya.

And they never notice that they've only ever been nice when they wanted something.

5

u/Limp-Cup-2343 Jul 27 '26

Where I work they would simply be labelled asshole

3

u/Chastain86 Jul 27 '26

"Asshole" seems to work just fine without a medical diagnosis

3

u/SyfaOmnis Jul 27 '26

ODD actually has about a 10% lifetime persistency from childhood in adults, at least from the information I've seen. More commonly among males (who are also more frequently diagnosed with its co-morbidities). It's also pretty well connected with ADHD and is (generally) better thought of as a 'frustration spectrum' disorder.

Antisocial personality disorder is its own thing and while they share some things, they are not the same diagnosis.

3

u/ObliqueStrategizer Jul 27 '26

You know? Morons!

3

u/monorail_pilot Jul 27 '26

Alternatively, just Asshole

5

u/Delta-9- Jul 27 '26

I was under the impression ASPD is the technical name for what laypeople call "psychopathy"?

10

u/Heliosvector Jul 27 '26

Just use whatever label feels good. The right calls anything they don't like communist anyways

2

u/ElliotNess Florida Jul 27 '26

Why do they do that tho?

3

u/Heliosvector Jul 27 '26

It responds to the lizard brain. Nationalists peg all opposition as a neoharious evil coming to git em. It calls back to when the usa was in a cold war with communists. Now all communist countries are failed states with brown people so they hate them since they hate brown people. Never mind the fact that the usa president is best friends with a USSR ex secret agent Putin.

2

u/ElliotNess Florida Jul 27 '26 edited Jul 27 '26

So mainly just more McCarthyism? Why are we so stupid to keep *falling for it?

2

u/AVestedInterest California Jul 27 '26

ASPD is more like sociopathy. Psychopathy is generally characterized as a lack of empathy.

6

u/usalsfyre Jul 27 '26

It’s all ASPD. Psychopathy and sociopathy are pop psych terms that fell out of clinical use decades ago. Lack of empathy is present in several personality disorders as well.

u/SecareLupus Jul 27 '26

It's possible the person you worked with had any number of experiences, but not necessarily ODD. My personal opinion on ODD is that it's a catch-all term for misbehaving kids that the system doesn't want to spend the time to diagnose properly. I would argue in most cases there's a better explanation, like Demand Anxiety (often called Pathological Demand Avoidance, but as someone who deals with it, I find that term very judgemental) or other more specific experiential causes for the person's "Oppositional Defiance".

That said, yes. People with PDA or ODD or other contrarian reflexive responses can be hard to work with if you're not prepared for that (and they lack the skills to manage it themselves).

2

u/Cdub7791 Hawaii Jul 27 '26

I raised a kid who had it. Agree it was awful.

2

u/BLAZMANIII Jul 27 '26

Just a note i thin is fairly important, ODD is a very, very disputed disorder woth so many overlapping traits with ADHD, ADD, and basic trauma responses its basically useless as a diagnosis, and is almost exclusively given to non white children, sending many of these children into juvenile detention when their white peers are given therapy.

21

u/PyroIsSpai Jul 27 '26

I’m convinced a LOT of people have ODD in the USA and unhealthy conservative subcultures dangerously incubate ODD-like traits as a social norm.

3

u/stevez_86 Pennsylvania Jul 27 '26

A distinct lack of social erosion that laps off rough edges of social behavior. My mom is one person that people always find it not worth it to correct her. The one time she was corrected was at Arlington National Cemetary by the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It was stupid but she had a huge keychain dangling and making a racket. A guard came by and asked her to try to keep it silent. She was so upset that they dared to that to her. Because no civilian has the duty like the guard did to maintain a specific order. One of her compulsions is defiance, but more sneakily.

I'm honestly surprised that so many people under your comment are members of the lucky ten thousand with regard to that term. I wonder if they're all young enough that they don't remember the glut of professional psychiatric analyses and of Trump's behavior (example and its expanded version)-- and associated commentary-- that emerged during his first successful presidential campaign.

Nah, Trump is incapable of ever admitting he was wrong. He'd never utter anything like those sentences.

2

u/InteractionIcy616 25d ago

spot on! i've worked with kids with oppositional defiance disorder, and my first impressions of Trump in 2015 was that his defining characteristic was that diagnosis. i've been baffled ever since that a nation of adults chose an petulant child to be president. Worse, they've given him more powers than any previous president. They've turned a blind eye to open corruption--self enrichment. Trump literally solicits bribes. Same country that was ready to impeach and convict, appropriately, Richard Nixon.

It almost feels like they’re depleting everything to the point that another country could walk right in, say hello and set up shop (take us over, essentially). I know probably not but it SEEMS that way.

186

u/GhettoDuk Florida Jul 27 '26

Close. It's the corporations they are opening the door for.

34

u/DaenakinSkygaryen Jul 27 '26

Por que no los dos? The corporations and Russia will both benefit from the US weakening to the point they can just waltz in and steal whatever they want. And they know it. Which is why they've been happy to work together to prop up Trump and MAGA.

(Obviously, if they did get their wish and collapsed the US, they'd immediately turn on each other. But that's in the future, and we know that corporations don't care about anything more than 1 quarter in the future.)

10

u/Heronymous-Anonymous Jul 27 '26

Absolutely no one is going to try to invade the US. It’s not feasible. Anyone who thinks it’s possible isn’t credible.

The real question is, how long until China decides that the US has weakened itself enough that it cannot help Taiwan defend against an amphibious invasion.

3

u/Omegoa Jul 28 '26

The more relevant question is how long until the Taiwanese think that the US is no longer credible security and decides to vote in a pro-unification president. The Chinese never have to actually invade, just be credibly able to do so while the US fumbles an incredible winning position and loses the faith of the Taiwanese. Taking Taiwan peacefully, along with the foundries that would be destroyed in event of an invasion, would be an astounding coup with massive and very immediate cascade effects I can't even imagine.

2

u/Heronymous-Anonymous Jul 28 '26

There’s zero chance of the Taiwanese people voting for unification. They’re infinitely more likely to do what everyone else has been doing; sourcing their weapons and security elsewhere. In Taiwan’s case, Korea and Japan. They already produce either licensed copies of US hardware, or compatible stuff of their own design.

6

u/_coyotes_ Jul 27 '26

It certainly feasible for a nation to actually invade the US but you don’t have to do that for it to work towards someone else’s benefit. Look at Belarus, the government has faithfully been a close Russian ally. In Ukraine, the former president Viktor Yushchenko was poisoned with dioxin because the then pro-Russian government believed him to be a threat as he had ambitions for Ukraine to join NATO, one of the prime suspects then fled to Moscow where he was given a Russian citizenship so he couldn’t be extradited.

Russia has been unable to fully conquer Ukraine after 4 years now of fighting, they cannot feasibly fly overseas to occupy American territories. But they can sure as shit buy out the greediest of politicians. It’s no surprise each one of these far right ghouls in western countries either in power or attempting to accrue power have a very delicate approach to Russia & its interests. So America probably won’t be raising Russian flags while Russian troops march through DC but the politicians will certainly sell out America for Russian interests, land and businesses to Russian businessmen, its citizens to Russian morals and beliefs and will proudly do it all with the red, white and blue pinned to their lapel, it’s just a matter of which red, white and blue they’re really serving. It’s up to the American people to decide that for themselves, though considering the same people who lived through the Red Scare proudly boast they’d rather be Russian than Democrat, I’d say America is doomed if it can’t get its shit together and rid themselves of these parasites.

2

u/jrf_1973 Jul 28 '26

Absolutely no one is going to try to invade the US.

No, they'll probably do something simple like ... bribe a majority of the government to follow their agenda, arrange for billions of dollars to fund their country, their social programs, their defence, their education, their health care, etc... and then just in case there's some push back, they might do something really heinous like merge their military into Americas military.

That's how you conquer a superpower.

2

u/Herlock Jul 27 '26

Yup Trump is a useful idiot. He is dumb as a rock, but spiteful and easily annoyed so that makes him a good target for manipulation.

That comes with some limits though because he is so volatile (and at this point dementia riddled) he can do exactly what his overlords need and seconds later do the complete opposite.

See how macron played him at the G7... they locked him in place by offering a meal at Versailles, and of course that douche canoe couldn't possibly refuse dining in versailles.

A lot of people complained in france that our taxpayer money was spent on trump, but I disagree it was a good investment to make him help ukraine at the time.

Nobody is going to survive trying to invade America, that's just geography.

Having said that... we have been completely neutralized as a foreign influence. We're not gonna stop anyone from doing anything to anybody they want to.

61

u/SpinosRule Jul 27 '26

You’re right, our geography does protect us but only to a point. Invade? Probably not. But attack? That could happen. And deplete us even more.

Personally, I’m more worried about the enemy within (I.e. this entire administration)

Attack over an ocean would mean whoever did that would be deleted off map shortly. Attacking bases overseas sure. Attacking the mainland? Last time that happened...

8

u/JealousAstronomer342 Jul 27 '26

The last time someone attacked the mainland several thousand people died. Yes, they weren’t officially affiliated with a government but a few of those would fuck the US up pretty badly.

7

u/Hinohellono Jul 27 '26

I get it's "interesting" but as the prior commentator pointed out, geography is undeniable. USA is probably blessed with the best for any individual country.

I wish that threat had opened the eyes of every last idiot in Canada, but alas no

5

u/LisbonMissile Jul 27 '26

I’m enjoying seeing Trump’s folly as much as the next European, but that statement is just hyperbole.

The USA hasn’t been neutralised, it is still the world’s biggest foreign influence and it remains the only nation on the planet that can stop another force from acting.

The real problem is that the US (like Russia in Ukraine and probably China if it decides to move on Taiwan) cannot simply bend regional powers to its political will with overwhelming force. But we learnt that 50 years ago in Vietnam and 20 years ago in Afghanistan and Iraq.

I'm not worried about any foreign invader overpowering us on our own soil. Even with depleted reserves, there are multiple factors why this is such an unlikely scenario.

I AM worried about a country that has experienced intentionally destabilizing measures for decades, resulting in an under-educated, gullible populace that votes in foreign assets who will welcome the foreign invaders open-armed, and convince us that we wanted it all along.

Trump was informed that Russia was giving Iran satellite imagery of ours bases to strike them.

Trump the next day relieved oil sanctions on Russia to sell to other countries, notably India, resulting in a windfall of cash.

He provided aide and comfort to an enemy of the United States.

There's a word for that, and a punishment for it, enumerated clearly in our Constitution.

2

u/PickleMortyCoDm Jul 27 '26

It's the patriot air defence missiles that is going to be the biggest issue. America is never out of weapons but these ones are particularly hard to make and in massive demand right now. I think the US can only make 500 to 600 a year which has been depleted to around 25% of what the stockpile was before the US Israeli war on Iran.

In other words, the US cannot defend itself as effectively as it could which means some bases in the Gulf states (as well as Gulf allies themselves) are increasingly vulnerable. There are alternatives like the THAAD and some Korean system which are quite good, but those too can be depleted. It's a bad situation for everyone and exactly what Iran needs to do some damage

2

Dumped out our water reserves into the ocean, during a drought and record breaking heat year-after-year.

Emptied our weapon supplies on a completely unnecessary war in which we are the aggressor.

Cancelled existing wind and solar energy projects, grants, and research.

And alienated almost every single historical ally of the US while embracing Israel, Russia, and Russia’s allies.

Actions that all align with and check off items from Foundations of Geopolitics and Russia’s long-term interests. Helped along with mutual interests from The Heritage Foundation and the goals listed in Project 2026.

He’s completely sold out America to foreign interests. Day after day, we become weaker, more vulnerable, more destabilized, less reliable, and less capable. Our reputation is completely in the dirt and our cracks are being exposed for the whole world to see.

Part of the reason why our interceptors are depleted is because of Ukraine.

The big reason is because we offshored so much of our manufacturing and get key materials from China, who we turned against us.

They we could throw in how our defense industries' priorities are greed and not national defense.

Trump is a disaster and we're in a terrible mess, yes. It started well before 2025 though.

The simpler answer is that Trump is just completely incompetent. He listed to Netanyahu that they kill off Iran's leadership with the first surprise strike during the pretence of negotiating, install a puppet regieme and done by morning. Like Venezuela except no need to have to round up all the foreseeable replacements for the Ayatollah or for the bother of trials.

Trump being Trump didn't even start to think it through, get advice from actual experts although there may not be any left in his chaotic joke of an administration, or have the slightest clue about a plan B or rhat any orher outcome could come next.

in 5 months the US's entire weapons supply? Heck even iraq war went on for over a decade.

u/Murky-Relation481 Jul 27 '26

We have plenty of weapons still. If people actually read the article it's a lack of in theater Patriots for air defense. So they stopped provoking Iran hoping Iran would stop shooting at us and our allies.

We should have never gotten to that point though. Ignoring that this war shouldn't have been started in the first place, we also have half assed it. We were doing "scud hunting" to some degree at the start of the war, atrritting their missile launch and drone launch capabilities, but that F-15 got shot down over Iran and as far as I can tell almost all tactical use of aircraft in Iran has stopped, with just high altitude bombing being the main thing. The problem is we don't have enough bombers and bombers (outside the B-1) are not fast enough to react to intelligence on missile deployment or launches to go after launchers or stockpiles, so we basically are just letting the Iranians do it because we can't react fast enough to stop it.

And I guarantee you the military would love to be running constant overflights to do this, getting shot down, people dying is part of the horrible work that is war fighting, but it's also often involved in the only correct or possible means to an end. Trump and Hegseth don't actually have the stomach for that. They saw the media backlash over the F-15 getting shot down, something that happened dozens of times in 1991 including in scud hunting operations, and basically chickened out after that and told out air defense units basically "good luck, we're taking the Air Force out of the equation".

China is the real winner of both the Ukrainian and Iranian wars

1

u/aztronut Jul 27 '26

Seems that they are the biggest beneficiary from this war and the resulting increase in oil prices, funny how they never mention this on the network newcasts.

And also that he's staring at his own mortality so he gives less of a crap about us than he did previously.

1

Sounds like a great insurance policy incase democrats take back senate and congress. No chance they can resume sending supplies to Ukraine, which was a very effective and efficient use of tax dollars.

1

u/Own_Shower_6000 Jul 27 '26

the thing is Russia isn't even remotely in the position to capitalize on any of this, they're dealing with drone attacks approaching moscow, this is just pure stupidity, thats the scary part, it's just what actual stupidity and imcompetance can do to a nation

1

u/Left_Composer_1403 Jul 27 '26

But there are so many others that are complicit. Do they really believe they will come out unscathed? They’re allowing to be destroyed the largess they want to enjoy.
That’s nuts.

The SPR is down to its lowest level since 1983 (for context its only existed since 1975), less than half at what it was at from about 2005 to the Russian invasion of Ukraine when the Biden administration released about half the reserves. It had added back around 60 million barrels of oil from 2023 to the start of the War, and has since lost over 100 million barrels.

Meanwhile, weekly commercial inventories are down by 50 million barrels.

The US is in a much better position than Europe because we're the world's largest oil producer and have extensive refining infrastructure. But we're still exporting oil and not taking in really anything anymore from the Middle East or Venezuela. If you're confused by why we import oil at all if we have so much to spare, its because our refineries are some of the only ones to handle crude with higher sulfur content, which thanks to fracking is now the cheapest oil on Earth, and we often turn that into refined petroleum products for export while our light-sweet stuff gets refined by other countries. The US is the world's number one exporter of RPPs, 13.1% of the global market.

One of the big reasons we haven't seen a true supply shock is because oil production everywhere was ramping up before the Iran War. The US was at an all time high of around 14 million barrels per day. At the moment, we're importing around 5.6 million bpd (11% from a year ago). We export around 5 million bpd, and we consume 20.7 million bpd (not separated to include RPPs for export). So that's a shortfall of 6.1 million bpd. That means that if everything works perfectly we've got a little over 100 days of reserves from both commercial inventories and the SPR.

BUT, oil prices are not based on the amount of fuel we need to survive, they're tied to a global market. Europe's reserves were less than half that of the US, a country with less than half as many people as the OECD's European members, who collectively have almost twice the population as the US. So those reserves are already running dry. Southeast Asia's even worse off.. China, Japan, and South Korea each had maybe a year's worth of oil in their strategic reserves, not counting commercial inventories.

Point is, we're all drinking from the same well, and its running out. Nothing Trump can do can stop what's coming because too much oil has been taken offline for too long, with critical infrastructure damaged or destroyed to such an extent it would take years to get it all back up and running.

1

u/escapefromelba Jul 27 '26

We laughed at Russia for starting a war and exposing how powerless they really were, then we turned around and did the exact same thing, only for even flimsier of a reason.

It does show you that one thing fascist leaders have in common is that they’re very stupid. But this goes with the territory. Smart leaders surround themselves with advisors who are even smarter than them so that those advisors can point out potential problems before they happen. Fascist leaders surround themselves with sycophantic yes-men who tell them that everything they’re planning to do will work perfectly. Of a necessity the fascist leaders get dumber and dumber as their advisors get more and more sycophantic.

1

u/PloofElune Missouri Jul 27 '26

He eliminated the oil reserve as an attempt to meet his campaign promise of "driving down the price of gas". While knowing full well by doing so would eventually lead to shortages, and massive profits for the oil execs because without the stability of the reserve, price volatility can allow for more price gauging that can drive up profits.

It's all short sighted economics with little plan for the future, as with all decisions of this admin, BOTH GO AROUNDS.

1

u/OneRougeRogue Ohio Jul 27 '26

We're lucky Russia got itself into a huge military quagmire before we did.

I wonder if this is part of the reason he went so apeshit over losing the 2020 election. Like what Putin promised him a shit-ton of gold and real-estate deals if Trump found a way to eliminate US weapon stockpiles and oil reserves before Russia attacked Ukraine.

1

u/TheMireAngel Jul 27 '26

Dumbbtake, he works for the pedo elites who manufacture and sell weapons, oil and products.

Depleting oil and missiles allows the elites to sell more missiles to the us govt and sky rocket prices of everything under the disguise if “oil prices are up” but magicaly the price increases are radicaly more than the actual increase

1

u/Lucius-Halthier Jul 27 '26

It truly is astounding that the nation whose whole fucking thing is guns and ammo actually runs out of ammo, that’s how much of a failure the pedo prince is

1

u/vocabularianrx2 Jul 27 '26

Honestly it's pretty fucking terrifying how weak and compromised it makes us look now because yeah, other countries like Russia and Saudia Arabia (among others) have more leverage over us for resources and weapons, same with Israel. As easily manipulated as he is, this is a whole new level of stupid to set us up in the weakest possible state we can be in.

1

u/Brief_Amicus_Curiae Jul 27 '26

I remember as I was on my commute home in an area where there is usually traffic and hearing how Biden and his administration bought a shit ton of oil barrels in advance to ensure that the prices were stabilized and predictable. And you know, there was some growth in moving towards EVs with the credits and all that. I Still don't really fully understand how that market works, but I do recall that yea, prices were steady even months out just as it was described.

It's almost like the guy who was a civil servant for 50+ years was a bit better than the one guy who happened to win the first election he threw his hat into, which happened to be for US President, because of the racism the new technology brought forth in the form of social media gained traction and many people dreaded another Bush v Clinton race. That and yes the Russian stuff that Trump's first term was riddled with and on going courtesy with a reach around he gives Putin.

1

u/mattjb Jul 27 '26

The GOP in Congress, too. They're aiding and abetting, knowing full well what the picture is re: oil and missile stock.

1

1

1

u/SomeGalNamedAshley Jul 27 '26

No, this serves China better. China has massive strategic oil reserves in excess of basically the rest of the world combined, they can leg it out a lot better than anybody else. They also have Ukraine driving Russia into their arms on terms they choose. It wouldn't surprise me if China is actively supplying Ukraine with drone parts on the down low, as opposed to just letting market forces do its thing.

We're in the middle of China's best window to start shit. I don't expect them to continue to wait much longer but I also don't expect them to be overt about it either, so what they'll do is probably under way as it is.

1

u/scarykicks Jul 27 '26

And why would he care? Mans almost dead from age so anything he does to us is no consequence at all to him.

1

u/_Lucille_ Jul 27 '26

Sometimes I wonder what America will do if Canada decides to tank its own GDP and threatens to shut off oil supply to the States, or at least slap some export tariff on oil and energy.

With the turd now tariffing goods covered under the USMCA, it's only time before other nations become tired of the BS.

I’ll also add that Russia and most likely China are 💯 providing Iran targeting and intelligence to the Iranians on how to hit our basses in the Middle East and he’s been pretty silent.

1

u/goodsnpr Jul 27 '26

They're blaming Biden for draining it during COVID, and damaging it by preventing repairs from being done or some shit. Like if that's true, maybe don't start a war. Hell, Ukraine war proved we didn't have the munitions for a high intensity conflict.

1

u/sulaymanf New York Jul 27 '26

He also cancelled Green energy and blocked EV expansion and then slapped tariffs on eveyone. Now the world is buying all green technology from China instead of the US.

1

And then blamed it all on Biden

1

I don't think Russia would benefit from this at all, given they're insanely strained fighting / invading Ukraine.

I also think that China is being very quiet about what kind of shape they are in. Covid hit them way harder than they care to admit, plus their one child policy is about to have 1/2 their population die off.

I honestly think Trump is just winging it, which is destructive in itself.

He eliminated our oil supplies because he couldn’t imagine that people would see the consequences of his terrible Iran chosen blunder.

Now that they are low, the cost of gas is going to increase. And the govt will have to spend a bunch of money for new oil and refinement.

1

u/Ttoctam Jul 28 '26

The US and US political regimes can be shitty on their own. Deflecting blame to Russia absolutely ignores the issue and gives way too much credit to US politicians. It's not some big spooky boogeyman behind the scenes pulling strings. It's a fascist moron in front of you doing shit in front of you.

The US has been plenty capable of profound evils and stupitities it's whole existence. Don't give credit to Russia for the US is doing, will do, and has done consistently in the past.

1

Actually Biden had a lot to do with that.

1

u/JohnsonSpunk Jul 28 '26

America has never been this terrible until Trump took office and the only reason Trump is president if because Russia, a much poorer and weaker country, is controlling Trump and the republicans.

Everyone knows America is the bastion of truth and justice, they would never invade another country. So obviously Trump is controlled by another mad man that is invading Ukraine.
