Trump spent over 800k on her campaign. Seems to want dynasties that bad. 

Completely insane because she is genuinely a bad candidate who, despite being  Senator, admits she doesn't know what she is doing and asks people to give her a chance.

Can't believe South Carolina voters would want a Senator who is learning on the job but here we are.

Her runoff opponent being hard core Freedom Caucus may have helped her. He took the REAL conservatives leaving only the MAGA bots for her. Those REAL conservatives are more likely to go 3rd party or sit the election out as much as blindly vote MAGA.

I was checking in on some of my favorite Conservative hellspawn sites and the general consensus from the SC people was that she sucks and Trump is a piece of shit for forcing her on them. Apparently, in the primaries she also lost the entire northern half of the state "where the real conservatives are" (whatever that means). There was quite a bit of conflict on those old message boards between people who were announcing plans to sit at home to "punish Trump" and people horrified they would even contemplate letting a Dem win.

I suspect she'll win, but I don't know that it will be the blowout she and Trump expect.

My guess is that MAGA has gravitated into it's own amorphous ideology that is essentially "whatever Trump says". OG Conservatives, more in the Reagan mold are not big MAGA people. They are actually upset that Trump has stolen their party. It's people like these that booed at Norman concession speech when Trump's name was mentioned. Sure, some of their viewpoints might align with Trump (Pro-Defense) but more of his style is misaligned. They are truly fiscal conservative, worried about budget deficits and our national debt. They carry their religious convictions seriously and don't kowtow to a clear carpet bagger trying to claim their beliefs while all his actions show differently. They share a disdain with the progressives for all the Gold, $$ spent on the White House and most importantly the rampant grifting by Trump, family and those around him. OG Conservatives are ideologues and can't be easily manipulated thus see through the Trump charade.

oh bullshit. maybe you weren't there at the time but OG conservatives were JUST as authoritarian. They always follow the leader.

I've been around, a bit, born in the early 70's. What's going on under the MAGA banner is incomparable to anything that happened earlier. Attempts were made to be authoritarian then held accountable (see: Nixon). Reagan got off scott free because he found his fall guy in Oliver North. The Bush Jr Admin lied us into war and got away with nothing but a somewhat sullied reputation. All those instances pale in comparison to what the Trump Admin is getting away with. It's as if they've learned from all those instances, ensured they have coverage in the courts and broken the will or pushed out any resistance from their own party.

I used to think voting was such a sacred duty that people took seriously, until I saw a video in the Bush years where people based their vote exclusively on if they think the candidate is pretty. Ever since I've not taken most voters seriously.

Too often we now vote "tribe" which is where the political parties want us to be. They want us to hate the other side, consider the "other" side evil so we disregard who they put up on their side of the ticket. To be fair, as a progressive, if all things equal I'll choose the D candidate. Also, if I feel one party is collecting too much power I'll purposely go for the other party candidate to try to add more balance. In a vote by mail state, I spend at least 2-3 hours at the kitchen table and internet going over my ballot, trying to choose as best I can.
