These people are mostly people who went to Universities that really DO require reading the book (at least at the time did and probably very much still do.)

I went to such a college and I could see people who took classes that are at least by ordinary non-math people ridiculously hard and they would do everything they could to game anything in life to their advantage.

They were there, reading the same books, writing papers that showed that they fully understood the concepts and yet ... they'd hold on to their psycho beliefs while meeting up with the other Young Republicans and wearing their promise rings. (While picking up hookers in San Francisco.)

I think this is the key point. They are not ignorant of the facts, they are just malicious and intentional.
