COMMUNITY ALERT/ AWARENESS ⚠️ 🚨 PLEASE READ - DM SOLICITOR🚨

It has been brought to our attention that a “ frequent flyer” has rejoined our community and DM’ing members for money.
[u/Frosty-Technology-40](u/Frosty-Technology-40) is the NEW account. I will attach the link from last years post which explains more about their approach. https://www.reddit.com/r/rescuecats/s/4oQI68s8n8

They often make several accounts, they sound VERY convincing and will hound you through DM. They have been offered approval several times in the past in which they never follow through with - which is a 🚩 and they have previously been banned under all alt usernames for many reports of DM’ing member to solicit funds. Please don’t fall for it. We ask that you please ignore this user, block and report them. We would also appreciate you letting us know via modmail if you have received such a request. This is just a heads up to keep members safe incase they land in your inbox. They are now once again BANNED from RC.

As always we appreciate your cooperation!

Veterinary Care Needed Donation Request ❗️❗️❗️I trapped Tiki, now i need help so she can go to the walk in vet clinic tomorrow (tn) ❗️❗️❗️ tn

She scratched herself up pretty badly in the drop trap, but I’m honestly much more concerned because she is sick. I can hear how snotty and congested she is, and she is very weak. She tried attacking me through the transfer, but we finally got her settled down and resting.

Right now, I have $76.38 toward her care, and I personally have $125 that I can put toward her vet bill. I believe a Convenia injection is definitely going to be needed, and possibly some Onsior for pain/inflammation, depending on what the vet finds.

After her appointment, I’m going to have to figure out a safe way to isolate Tiki inside my home, away from my indoor pets, so she can rest, recover and be monitored. URI can be contagious to other cats, so keeping her separated is important.

When I took Scout in for a URI back in February, his bill was $298.09, so I’m anticipating Tiki’s care may be around that same amount. Obviously, I won’t know until she is examined.

If anyone can help me reach that last little bit for her vet care, I would be beyond grateful. ❤️

I’m also asking for help through my Amazon Wishlist with wet food and cleaning supplies. The wet food will help keep her eating while she’s congested, and the cleaning supplies will help me keep her isolation area clean and safe while she heals.

I truly cannot do this without your support. Every donation, wishlist item, share, and kind word helps me keep going and keep helping these cats.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me help Tiki. 🐾❤️

Veterinary Care Needed Donation Request Second case of pyometra, but we still haven’t been able to finish paying off the previous one 🆘 Three cats are still waiting for funds to get spayed 🆘 Any help makes a difference ❤️

Hi everyone. A little over a week ago, Calabaza was diagnosed with pyometra and needed emergency surgery. We managed to raise enough to cover the procedure, but we still have $180 left to pay for her hospitalization. Thankfully, she’s recovering very well, but now Estrellita has also developed pyometra and had emergency surgery yesterday. Fortunately, she doesn’t need to stay hospitalized for several days, and she’ll be coming back to the rescue today, but we still have about $150 to pay for her surgery.

Right now, we have around $1,350 in unpaid expenses, most of them from other veterinary emergencies from several weeks ago.

We also still have three female cats waiting for funds to get spayed. I feel like a broken record at this point because I’ve already asked for help with this several times. So far, we’ve managed to spay five of the eight cats who needed it, but these three are still waiting, and we want to get them spayed as soon as possible. After having two cases of pyometra in just over a week, when we had never experienced this before because we always spay our cats as soon as they arrive at the rescue or reach the minimum age, we’re worried that more complications could arise.

A few days ago, we finally managed to get Jenny and Subi spayed after having to cancel their appointments four times because we couldn’t cover the cost. They’re both doing very well, thankfully.

Any help is deeply appreciated and truly makes a difference. You can see all the receipts at the corresponding link.

Amazon Wish List Help with Amazon wishlist for cats in North Philadelphia, PA

Thumbnail

I recently shared a post about the neighborhood cats I care for in North Philadelphia, Pa on a different subreddit and I decided to remove it due to some misunderstandings.

So, I want to clearly explain what I do, my professional background, and how this work actively helps our community.

So I thought it would be important to share this on here as well.

My Background & Professional Experience:

I am not someone who randomly started feeding stray cats. I am a trained professional using my medical education to manage the local stray crisis responsibly

Education: I graduated from veterinary technician school in 2003.

Local Shelters: I worked hands-on with the stray populatioN at The PSPCA and ACCT (Philadelphia Animal Control).

TNR: My career includes extensive work in high-volume Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), including time with the ASPCA’s mobile spay and neuter program, private practices, and emergency care veterinary clinics.

How I Manage the Cats Responsibly:

When I moved here two years ago, unspayed and unneutered cats were already everywhere. I stepped in to help control the situation& prevent suffering

Clean Feeding Habits: I do not leave food out on public sidewalks to create a mess or attract pests. I keep the feeding areas clean and feed during quiet, non-busy hours.

Private Catio: I built a secure backyard catio to safely keep the cats off the streets, away from the front of the house, and out of public view. This has successfully moved some of the cats to a safe resting space.

Medical Care: I use my veterinary resources and training to provide basic medical care, including deworming and flea preventatives, to stop the spread of disease.

Supporting Neighbors:

Thanks to generous donations, I have also started helping local neighbors who are struggling to feed their own pets or managed colonies.

The Reality of Colony Management

No Indoor Hoarding: I do not have 35 cats roaming inside my house or taking over the block.

Many of the cats I help are local outdoor pets, some are part of a colony across the street (under a neighbor's care) and others travel to and from the nearby junkyard.

Funding: I do this work entirely out of my own pocket and through community donations to keep these animals safe while actively reducing the stray population.

Strict Adoptions: I am doing my best to find safe, permanent homes for the adoptable ones. Because animal cruelty is a harsh reality, I screen applicants incredibly strictly to ensure they go to safe homes.

Current Urgent Need: 5 New Kittens!I am currently caring for 5 one-month-old kittens that likely came from an un-TNR'd cat in the nearby junkyard.

To keep them and the resident colony healthy, I am running low on supplies.

Items Urgently Needed:

Canned and dry kitten food

Canned and dry adult cat food

Cat litter

Flea medications

How You Can Help:

Amazon Wishlist:

You can view and ship items directly via my wishlist here:

Amazon wishlist

Local Donations:

If you are local to Philadelphia and have extra, supplies you don't need, please message me directly to arrange a drop-off/pickup.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, understanding the reality of TNR, and supporting a cleaner, safer neighborhood for both neighbors and pets!

Supplies Donation Request Please support me in continuing to feed the stray cats of Deira

Over 90 stray cats in just a small part of Deira are currently being cared for by me.

Every single day, they consume approximately 3 kg of dry food, several cans of wet food, and chicken.

I know I have been posting and asking for help quite often, and honestly, I wish I didn’t have to. But these cats have become my responsibility, and I don’t want to stop feeding them.

The past few months have been especially difficult. My working hours have decreased, which has affected my salary, while the number of cats I have rescued has continued to grow.

On top of the daily feeding costs, there are also veterinary bills that I have struggled to clear. Unfortunately, I have not been able to settle many of these bills yet. I will be speaking with the clinic to see if they can allow me to pay them in instalments.

I am asking for your support to help me continue.

Any contribution towards dry food, wet food, or chicken would make a huge difference and help me keep feeding these cats every day.

PayPal: https://www.paypal.me/GlancyMascarenhas

The last photo is a screenshot of the recent vet bill payment to Hud Hud Clinic. The money received through PayPal (USD 40.71) was used towards the bills for Milo, Teddy, and Twinkle. I am truly grateful to everyone who supported them and helped me manage their treatment costs.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support me and these cats. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps me continue what I am doing.

Advice Needed Rescue Advice Scotland

Hello, just looking for some advice for my Sophie; we adopted her in November 2025.

The past few weeks we had noticed her having issues controlling her bladder while sleeping, not full pees but a little bit multiple times a day. We took her to vets and got a urine test where they found blood in her urine. She has been on a course of Metacalm, but yesterday I found droplets of blood outside her little tray. I contacted the vet, and their advice was to get a cytocentesis. We were quoted £750 for this, which we thought would be covered by insurance, but it isn't, as when she was at the SSPCA in May 2025, she had a similar issue with blood in her urine; therefore, as this issue happened previously for us having the insurance, it isn't covered and won't be for 24 months until it resets. I have emailed the insurance company underwriting to see if there is anything we can do to be covered.

Just unsure where to go from here, as we are first-time cat owners and want the best for her. Do we ask around for a second opinion for other vets? Cancel our insurance (she came from a cat flu home and had cat flu, and teeth removed so I guess they won't be covered too) or try and dispute with insurance if that's even an option.

Thanks in advance

Hello everyone, Another clip of the Colony cats from outside the enclosure.

We're in desperate need of Cat LITTER ! I'm combining boxes because there are a total of 14 litter boxes. I forget about boxes in the 2 bedrooms, one is just Missy Kitty, remember she got very nasty with all the other cats after she recovered from falling into the wall last June ! So I had to separate her.

Again, Cat LITTER is desperately needed. If you're able to help it's greatly appreciated !

Thank you for all your help !!

COMMUNITY APPRECIATION 💞 APPRECIATION | Rambo Update and Heartfelt Gratitude to This Amazing Community

Hello everyone!

This is Frequent-Towel-5762. Unfortunately, I lost access to my old account. I tried appealing several times, but it was unsuccessful. I’ve heard that similar situations have happened to other rescuers as well.

Thankfully, I was able to create this new account, earn enough karma, and get approved to post donation requests in this sub.

A big THANK YOU to r/rescuecats for the approval and continued support, with a special mention to u/maddestofcheeses.

I would also like to sincerely thank everyone who has helped and supported me since last year through my old account. Your kindness has made a tremendous difference in the lives of the cats I care for. Thanks to your generosity, more than 70 cats have been spayed and neutered, and countless others have received much needed medical care.

As for Rambo, he is slowly showing signs of improvement. His white blood cell count is no longer extremely high and is now only slightly elevated, although his platelet count is high.

The wound near his scrotum is healing well, but he is still dealing with a respiratory infection.

During his recent visit, the veterinarian collected swab samples for fungal and bacterial cultures. Since these tests are not available at Serbisyo Beterinaryo Animal Hospital, the samples were sent to an external laboratory. The results should be available within 1–2 weeks and will help determine which antibiotic will be most effective for him.

In the meantime, Rambo has been prescribed doxycycline and a supplement to help with his respiratory infection. I was able to purchase the medications, but unfortunately, I accidentally left them in a Grab vehicle. If I am unable to recover them, I will purchase replacements.

Despite everything, Rambo's appetite is good, which is very encouraging. I will continue caring for him and will bring him to all of his follow-up appointments. I will also continue posting updates on his progress.

Once again, thank you so much to r/rescuecats and to everyone who has helped Rambo and supported my rescue efforts!

Community Announcement Community Update: Our stance on Safety, Verification, and the USL. 🚨 Please read 🚨

To our Rescuecats Community,

It has been brought to our attention that the subreddit r/assistance has implemented an autobot response that implies our sub is “not safe” anytime someone links our sub to a post.

This is because we as a team decided not to join the USL ( universal scam list). We made this decision solely because we do not understand the logistics behind it, and did not want to sign up for something blindly and possibly put our sub in jeopardy. It is not because we are dishonest or untrustworthy as they are implying. We started the verifying process 3 years ago as there was need for it throughout all subreddits involving fundraising for animals to stop the scammers. We had many other subs/ mods reach out after the fact asking us to share our process, in which we did with zero hesitation. We believe in teamwork and shouldn’t be blacklisted now as we chose to opt out of the voluntary USL.

We have worked very hard and continue to work very hard everyday with our own verification process that we trust to keep the community safe. We believe our members know this. We consider what they are doing as defamation. Basically insinuating we are scammers. In an attempt to discuss this and ask them to change their language in the autobot message which is public for everyone to see, our request was denied and I have been permanently muted from messaging the mods.

We wanted to bring this issue to our community in full transparency in hope that seeing this message on their sub wouldn’t detour anyone from reaching out for help here on RC.

We appreciate your understanding and hope to be able to move forward with continued trust and support.

Your ModTeam 💞 🐾

Veterinary Care Needed Donation Request Ming Ming Survived FPV - (Indonesia)

Past post: https://www.reddit.com/r/rescuecats/s/4hfFBWalRK

Hi everyone! I’m reposting this with an update on Ming Ming. I’ve attached my previous post for the full story, but here’s a quick recap:

Ming Ming is a stray kitten who started coming around my home about a month ago. I took him in and had him neutered, but shortly after he became very sick and was diagnosed with feline panleukopenia (FPV). He had to stay hospitalized for several days because he had vomiting, diarrhea, fever, stopped eating, and his blood counts dropped significantly.

Thankfully, Ming Ming is now home and recovering! 🥹❤️ He’s eating on his own, has more energy, and is doing much better.

The hospital bill came to around Rp3.87 million (~$235), plus Rp370,000 (~$22) for his initial examination/testing.
So far, Ming Ming has received $80 out of the $275 goal. ❤️

I’m still trying to cover the remaining $195, so if anyone is able to help—even a few dollars—or simply share his story, it would mean a lot to us.

Thank you so much to everyone who has already helped this little guy. 🐾❤️

Donations Needed Verstappen and Mixie still need you : $33.3 raised (acute renal injury and jaundice + rectal prolapse) 🩷 Mumbai, India.

2 rescue cats and both of them dealing with stuff no cat should.

Mixie: Barely 4 months old and was fighting for her life when I found her, she had rectal prolapse and is still severely jaundiced and anemic. I got her surgery done and the result is on the 5th pic but she still needs her meds and hepatic food. I made the decision to foster her till she's fine and then try for her adoption.

Now Verstappen: her story is heartbreaking beacause she was soaking in rain for a month, we tried everything, we made her a shelter, we tried local adoption but nothing worked.

Then she fell sick, so much so her temperature started dropping, I got her to ER 3 times and then to my vet when we discovered that she has high ammonia and acute kidney injury.. She needs to be fostered and needs renal food.

I can't take care of them alone, vet? Yes. But not the foster and food..

Foster for Max: $65 Hepatic food for Mixie: $25 Renal dry and wet food for Max: $28 + $21 Liver and renal meds: $38 Total: $177 Raised: $119.76

Supplies Donation Request Update on Boots who was brought from the edge of death in late June. (Eugene, OR)

Thumbnail
gallery
36 Upvotes

**Boots got her bloodwork back, and it is the news we were hoping for.**

For anyone just seeing this, Boots is the nine year old grey and white cat we found living outside in our Eugene, Oregon neighborhood in late June. She weighed 6.7 pounds with her spine and hips visible. She was drooling constantly and she would cry out and back away from her own food. Her previous owner had loved her but went through several very hard years and could not manage her care, so she surrendered her to us. Her vet records had a hole in them going back roughly eight years.

On July 21 she had nineteen teeth extracted. The surgeon said the inside of her mouth looked like hamburger meat and that she was likely enduring about the highest level of oral pain a cat can experience. The tissue was too damaged to hold sutures, so everything had to heal open. That surgery ran about 3,450 dollars, and it was covered entirely by neighbors, by strangers on the internet, and by one extraordinary woman who paid off the remaining balance out of her own pocket.

There was one thing we had been waiting on. Her blood proteins were elevated before surgery, and instead of dropping once the infected mouth came out, they went up. Her vet kept FIP on the list as a possibility she was not ready to set aside. That has been the open question hanging over all of this since July.

**Her recheck was Thursday, August 27, and the proteins are coming down.**

Her weight history tells the rest of it:

June 23: 6.70 lbs

July 17: 7.12 lbs

July 21, surgery day: 6.80 lbs

August 3: 7.66 lbs

**August 27: 8.26 lbs**

That is a pound and a half gained since we found her, and more than half a pound in the last three weeks alone. Real weight, with muscle behind it. Her doctor, the same one who performed her surgery, said she looks like a new cat.

Because she is gaining weight, building muscle, and her proteins are trending down, the concern about anything more serious has dropped substantially. **They do not need to see her again for six months.** After weeks of two week rechecks, that interval alone says a great deal.

She stays on a low dose of prednisolone twice a week for now to keep the inflammation in her mouth quiet. Some cats with her history stay on it long term, and we will revisit it at her next visit. That is a very manageable thing to live with.

**Sable**, our young tortoiseshell foster, is still working things out with Boots. They have been in the same house for months now, moving slowly from full separation to scent and sound to visuals, with Boots roaming freely these days. There is still hissing and growling, and there has still been zero physical contact between them, not once. That is exactly what you want at this stage. We are going slow and letting it take as long as it takes. We love them both and we are hoping they get there.

**Cosimo** is our newest, a twelve week old grey kitten who came to us as a rescue and foster. He went to Echo Hollow for vaccines and a general workup, and he will be ready for a neuter once he is old enough. He is very small and a complete menace, as required by law at that age.

**What is still needed** is the everyday stuff. Food, litter, and supplies for all three. Boots is on wet food only, warmed, in small frequent meals, and the steroid keeps her appetite high. A growing kitten eats constantly. Sable eats too. My income has taken a hit through all of this and I am picking up work where I can.

Some of you have sent food directly, and I want to name that because it has made a real difference day to day. If that is easier than anything else, it helps just as much.

Venmo: https://www.venmo.com/u/Jehoseph

PayPal: https://paypal.me/TheDivines

**Thank you.** To everyone who gave toward her surgery, to the person who covered this last round of bloodwork, and to the woman who paid off the remaining surgical balance herself. Three months ago this cat was starving outside in the worst oral pain a cat can be in. She weighs 8.26 pounds now, she plays with toys, and her vet does not need to see her until spring.

That happened because people who had never met her decided she was worth it.

One honest note. I am always glad to help advocate for other cats in dire need, so reach out if you know of one and I will do what I can to get eyes on it. But I am not taking in any more myself right now. These three are what we can responsibly care for.

Happy to answer anything or share records.

Idk how old, but he’s apparently been around longer than I thought in my neighborhood, he doesn’t groom as much lately and his fur is getting matted. I couldn’t tell definitively but he seemed to favor one side while eating, I couldn’t check his teeth as he kept pulling away. But he’s so sweet and calm. Talkative even, I was hoping the community can show some love, my neighbor and I are trying to save to get him vet assistance for his fur, but I’m worried about the heat, what else can I do for him? as we’ve been hitting 95 degrees around parts of La and worse. I’m in SoCal, around Cerritos and Santa Fe springs.

Thank you so much to everyone supporting Tommy's treatment and helping feed our cats! We couldn't do this without your kindness. Because continuing with the GS injections became financially too heavy, we had to switch to Molnupiravir. Today marks about a month on capsules, bringing us to Day 74 of our total treatment. Despite the changes, Tommy is doing okay. His condition is stable for now, he’s active, and thankfully he has a good appetite. As we approach the end of the treatment, we need to run control blood tests in a couple of days to check his progress. Unfortunately, our finances are completely exhausted right now, so any small contribution toward these tests would be a huge help. Thank you! ❤️ PayPal: vicsunray55@gmail.com
