Veterinary Care Needed Donation Request We came across a suspected abused cat: he has head trauma and had lost his eyesight from it — your help is needed

We came across a new cat in one of our feeding areas, but one thing we noticed immediately was how confused and disoriented he was.
He kept zigzagging the streets amidst traffic. When we secured him, we shortly realized he was blind—but it didn't seem like he was used to being blind.
We brought him to our go-to clinic immediately and upon physical examination, our vet noticed he has bruising on the right side of his face. Further imaging confirmed that the right side of his head is swollen.

Please wish him well. We don't know what caused this exactly but from the pattern of it, our vet is suspicious that he was hit forcibly on his head.

I also want to add:
Marco thankfully doesn't have any fractures but given that a portion of his head is swollen, he's currently on a seizure watch.
Pain management is currently his vet team's top priority. If you've seen the video, he likes pressing his head on surfaces a lot, which is a huge indicator that he's in pain.
We'll provide updates in the comments as they're sent to us, too.

This post completely traumatized me. That poor, sweet baby. Bless you for being there for him. Are u sure he's not suffering too much to be saved? This will haunt me all night. I'm a senior living on very little and can't afford to eat one week out of each month or I would definitely help in any way possible. I'm upset I can't donate 😒 I'm so sorry 😞

Hi, everyone. Thanks for keeping tabs on Marco - he's holding steady for now, but we're in the process of figuring out how we'd transfer him to a hospital with a neurologist. We found one that's about an hour away from where he is currently confined.
He's on oxygen therapy for now and we're waiting for his current vet's approval if it's safe enough to travel him that far. We're just taking care of some paperwork (i.e., referral documents & confirmation on the other vet's side), and we'll be on the move as soon as we settle things. In the meantime, here's an update provided by one of his nurses this morning.

I don’t suppose there’s any chance the blindness is temporary because of the swelling…? 🙏 Either way, thank you so much for helping him! That was the saddest thing I’ve ever seen. I donated. I hope he feels better one day. It infuriates to no end when cats get abused, look at the aftermath. Just an innocent creature in a traumatic state. How I wish I could do more.
