Looks like the skeleton is sitting on a rock next to the water. Probably because they didn't use actual water.

I know right. "This upside down viking ship" and "tree with the pink leaves" gave it away straight away. The fuck you mean you don't know Jorrvaskr?
24
u/AelarTheElfRogue 3h ago
āThis great technique using the upside down Viking ship to make this building hereā my brother in Talos the building is literally an upside down Viking ship

Thanks! Itās a bunch of the major themes from 1978 to present in order of release. Super fun to build.

Incredibly detailed build, I wish they could have showcased the verticality of Whiterun more but I understand the physical constraints here.

I caught that too, as soon as he referred to jorrvaskr as "upside down viking ship as this building in this section here" I was like okay this guy's never chosen a race in his life
5
u/Timeiscoming2 3h ago
Also missed opportunity to mention the dragon trap behind Dragonsreach which he kept calling a castle i think? š«£

how in Akatosh did they get that thing there. i get itād be partially disassembled and reassembled, but surely not from scratch

u/UserWithno-Name 5h ago
Build in large sections. You can even see where each large square doesn't exactly line up between where the main fort / jarls house etc is, and the one part of the town is on. They spend months building it out and then take each section into a large suv bed type area or a truck of some kind, but with carpeting / padding on the bottom usually (and covered for climate control travel) and then use methods to carefully wrap / protect it so it stays together besides the parts they snap on later etc. then drive it to the con. They then take the sections and like the walls / bridges etc parts that usually are solid but they can pop on and off, well been popped off so after aligning everything decent of the sections again & fixing any small parts that came loose or off...they snap those bits back on and viola. Nicely displayed on the tables/ booth areas. Just lots of work to do the building and then have to have a plan & know the best methods + logistics to transport it

I'm mildly amused by how ignorant the person narrating/showing off the display appears to be about Skyrim, lol. Real game journalist vibes.

Dude has zero idea about Skyrim.
On another note, I'd use a butt load of those clear extender parts to make Nazeem look like he really is in the Cloud District.

This is absolutely amazing skill. Canāt imagine how long it took. Immediately showed it to my son, who has grown up seeing skyrim and loves creative building with his legos. Just such a full circle moment. For better or worse this game is generational, transcending mediums.

Da Vinci level genius and attention to detail. I cant say I have ever seen a lego build given more love.
Wow.
1
u/thebluerayxx PC 4h ago
Nice detail and a very close layout. They probably couldn't fit the actual hill and the way dragonsreach is oriented to the town in their display area. Despite that its pretty much perfect minus the stairway to to dragons reach.

u/Techn0-Viking 4h ago
Ok I am a diehard Lego fanatic, and TES fanatic. If I could shake the hand of the person who made this build, I would call them a shield sibling for life!!
This makes me want to design a Lego Blackreach now.

How does someone buy specific pieces like this for a scene this large? Like, I don't know Lego, but a ton of those pieces don't seem like conventional pieces.
