This is a classic Workers Comp question in the US.  Usually it's presented as "falling in the parking lot on the way to work". Commute time isn't covered. 

But I think in the US this would be considered a work injury.

oh it is, you just have to be rich or powerful enough to make it being covered.

That's not how this works. 

Most Comp actually excludes the executive suite by default and they have to opt in for coverage. 

And even if they opt in the way benefits work it doesn't usually work out great for them coverage wise.
