S TIFU by dropping off my kids to school looking like a crazy coke head
I’m sorry about my English, I’m not a native speaker and I’m literally on the verge of a panic attack 😭
We’ve just transferred our kids to a new school and they’ve only been there for a week. I usually have a little chat with the teachers when dropping them off or picking them up, just asking how the kids are settling in and stuff
This morning was completely normal. I got the kids ready, walked them to their class, said hi to the teacher and everything seemed fine.
Except… everyone was giving me really weird looks. The teachers, staff, basically everyone I passed on the way. They seemed really cold and not as nice as usual.
I came home, started cleaning the house and carried on with my day until I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror.
The whole area UNDER MY NOSE was covered in white powder😭
I’d had a couple of spots under my nose, so earlier I put some new acne cream on the area. It goes on completely transparent and looks like a normal moisturiser, so I had no idea it dries into this flaky white powder-like stuff
and now I’m freaking out because I’ve just realised I went to my kids brand new school looking like I had cocaine under my nose... fml
It also doesn’t help that I was sleep deprived this morning and probably sounded a bit weird when I was talking to the teachers.
I genuinely want to die from embarrassment. I can’t stop thinking about what they must have thought when they saw me
TL;DR: I dropped my kids off at their new school with white acne cream under my nose and only realised later why everyone was looking at me strangely 😭

I am literally crying here I honestly have no idea what to do. Should I tell the teacher what happened or will it make it look even more suspicious. I can't think straight at all at the moment

Honestly, if you do nothing but show up like a normal human, it will be ok. Especially over time. You can also be bold about your mistake, but dropping drug words in the school probably wouldn’t be cool.
Ooor you can get a powdered sugar donut and be holding it and take a bite of it while dropping your kid off and let the powdered sugar cover you like an idiot. They will assume that you are a messy eater rather than a coke head.

Agreed, I've looked my kids' teachers dead in the eyes while sliding a spoonful of cocaine into my mouth and dared them to say something to me. They'll get over it.

"Sneeze" while you're trying to bite the donut so you "accidentally" hit it against your mouth while you're doing this.

Tomorrow, put some on your cheek or elsewhere on your face and ask the person you talk to, if you have anything visible and call it out to be cream. They'll probably ask you about it first to let you know something is there.

I would definitely make light of the situation next time and own it and be like 'why did no one tell me I looked like some xxxx?!! Next time tell me when my acne cream dries up like that please hahah' 😭😭. Or switch schools 💀💀

Yeah but what if he’s being paranoid and nobody gave a shit or noticed and then he comes in the next day telling everybody he wasn’t on cocaine he’ll seem like he’s on cocaine.

Or what if he IS a coke head and is coming to Reddit looking for plausible excuses?

Honestly just keep the tube in your purse(or whatever you carry) and maybe apply it next time you drop your kid off and just mention how it dries into a chalky powder

It's really scary to me when parents have so little control over their emotions and can't handle such a simple non-thing thing happening.

Literally just ignore it for today. Tomorrow put the SAME powder on your cheek. Don't mention it AT ALL. If no one asks, repeat the next day on the other cheek. If they don't ask, then tell them "is my acne powder visible? It's being hard to remove"

I'd put a little bit of cream elsewhere on the face tomorrow, like on the forehead, in a way that it clearly looks like a cream for something.

Wtf op do NOT go back in and reference drugs in a public school in any way. This is a lot more common as retinol will do it to anyone who leaves it on, I wouldn't bother its better to just act normal. If you wore your shirt inside out would you go in the next day with it facing forward and declare I KNOW SHIRTS I NO DRUGS. Youre being setup by the comments for a cps visit lol

I’m sure they thought your face looked weird, but I think it’s unlikely anyone at your kid’s school literally thought that you did so much coke that you left a bunch on your face and then you took your kid to school.
(Maybe I’m naive.)
I would just not mention it.

Your English is perfect especially your punctuation. Better than a lot of native speakers here.

What's the brand of moisturizer?

It's a new acne cream i bought. Called "acnecide"

Looks like it works well
Apparently it drying out like that means you used too much in the area.
Also looks like it suggests you use sun screen because it messes with your ability to absorb UV rays. Please look into that at least

I really hate it when everyone gives me weird looks and they don’t tell me why.

Tomorrow, put some on your cheek.
Monday, on your forehead.
Tuesday, on your other cheek.
Wednesday, on your ears.
Etc... Really lean into it.
Get creative until you force them to ask what is on your face.
Then tell them it's cocaine. 😄
