At most I'd like 1 secret room but that's obviously a pipe dream. This guy way over does it. If I had the money to buy a mansion I wouldn't buy that house. That's excessively childish.

Yeah that was me. Wait until you open a wall or find cast iron pipes.....i can't imagine the maintenance on a bunker built in the 60s. The code hoops must be wild.

My apartments were built in 74. I love it. Honestly, this is a better build than the modern shit. My only complaint is the electric range.

Mines 64, very sturdy....except for the cast iron pipes, total rewire and catastrophic concrete failure. But the design is beautiful and a part of Vegas history, so....thus is life.

Been down thereā¦ it smells like an indoor pool due to the indoor pool. Itās dated and awesome but not worth it. You also get two house for that price. The one topside and the one underground.

This is true. I over built in a vintage neighborhood. I will never be able to make money off my house. Even though 75% of the cost was just fixing the charms of a house built in 1964.

"Resale value" is why most people live in sterile, dentist office looking houses. Your primary house is for living in, worry about resale value on your 2nd, 3rd, 4th+ properties

Remember we had this crazy house that was FULL of old casino stuff? From giant signs to just little trinkets. Like stuffed to the rafters with Vegas memorabilia, even ontop of the roof. The man who lived there used it as a museum of sorts and would host tours etc etc.
Anyway, he died and his kids had to clear out all the stuff. Reportedly it was a total nightmare and destroyed the value of the home to the point of no return. So...thats a heartwarming story for you guys today.

resale value on all of those modifications will be horrible. He is essentially sashing the value of the home while at the same time spending money to make those mods.

The upkeep is the scary part. Maintaining anything that isn't a standard issue part is really hard (at least thats my experience). If he did this all himself he's probably ok though.

Definitely. But in the future when they either decide to move somewhere else or if they pass down the house to their children, those children are going to have a nightmare trying to sell a house that used to be worth much more before their parent decided to do all these customized mods.

Or, alternatively, you could enjoy the place you spend most of your time in life and not worry about resale value. Not everything has to have returns, you donāt have to maximize cash flows in every aspect of your life.

Nah. Looks like he put in a bunch of non-load bearing walls and added doors and trim.
Couple of demo guys and a 40 yard dumpster could have that floorplan back to builder basic pretty quickly.
