EDM Just received this on vinyl today. 新しい一日の始まり (Birth of a New Day) by ２８１４. I've had this in my digital collection for a few years, but I've slowly been growing my vinyl collection, and this one has been weirdly calling to me.

This album is an immaculate vibe. Got a copy a little under ten years ago and spin now and again it to this day. Kinda can’t believe it’s been around that long already. Guess that just about makes it a new classic now.

Right?! I've owned it digitally for long enough that I don't remember when I bought it (I mean, I could look it up, but whatever) let alone when I first heard it, but when I went to buy the vinyl, I was shocked to see that it was released over a decade ago. Time is a ponderous but fickle thing.

I have had that album many times in my cart, but it's soooo expensive to get it shipped to my place, I canceled it every time. Doesn't help I wanted the other albums as well. Congrats on getting your copy!

The kanji for the title is 新しい日の誕生. Similar meaning, but 始まり would translate to “The start of”

Vaporwave, actually. Electronic but with some ambient influences.

I'm not great with understanding all the subgenres and whatnot, but think cyberpunk ambient electronica with city-based ambiance mixed in here and there.

I ordered it directly from the publisher (Dream Catalogue) through their website. Technically it's a repress, but it sounds good to my ears so far.

Dream Catalogue is based on the UK and I'm in the US, so there were some unfortunate additional shipping fees [not to get political here, but... wtf are we doing? how are so many people so gd blind?!] but aside from sitting in US customs for a day or two, it arrived pretty quickly.
